*Hyderabad**, September 20, 2010:* The *‘Joy of Giving Week’* to
becelebrated across the country from September 26 to October 2, 2010
will see
several initiatives by various organizations to make it a grand success this
time also. The various activities lined up provide an opportunity to reach
out to someone less privileged – by donating money, volunteering time,
providing your skills and even just saying a kind word to someone who may
not have expected it from you. Joy of Giving Week is an open platform of
connecting people from all walks of life from every corner of the country to
experience the joy of giving.

The activities in which citizens of Hyderabad can participate and be a part
of Joy of Giving are

1. Have fun and help and NGO at the Karmayog Seva Mela

2. Trek to light houses of people in remote villages

3. Cycle and Sail at Necklace Road/ Hussain Sagar for your good health
and help the needy

4. Donate Clothes – old/new, all kind of clothes

5. Seven Day Seven Givings – During the week, just plan to give
anything, your time, effort, money, gifts to needy people in your
office, home, locality etc. One gift to one person every day

6. Buy a ticket to the Rotary’s Dandia Nite and help the needy

7. Request your company to hold a blood Donation Camp

8. Put a large Piggy Bank in your office, apartment, etc and donate.
The money can be used for a cause that your corporate/society supports

9. Get your kids to donate their old slippers and school Bags. Svechha
will collect them

10. Develop a social entrepreneurship business plan and make your dream
come true at ISB Idiya

11. Organize an event at your own campus

The Joy of Giving Week will be an eventful week in Hyderabad with several
institutions, NGOs, associations planning a slew of events during the week.
All these efforts will become a bigger success with your support. Please
find brief details of the events with key contact information below:

*1. Karamyog Seva Mela** – **Visit the mela on **October 1 and 2 at *SEVA,
Kowtha Swarajya Vihar, 10 Padmaraonagar,* with family and have fun, by
indulging in Fun rides, games, shopping, exhibition, and much more. All the
proceeds from the mela will be used for several noble causes. **Karamyog**:*
www.karmayog.org is a unique free platform for concerned citizens for social
and civic issues & connects citizens, civil society groups, corporates,
academicians, media and government through online and offline methods.

*2. Cyclothon & Sailing by HBC & Yacht Club of Hyderabad **– Will be
organized on Sunday 26th,between 6am & 11 am. Participants can bicycle
around necklace road and sail at Husain Sagar, meet cycling and sailing
enthusiasts. All the proceeds raised will be donated to reputed NGOs
identified by *Hyderabad Bicycling Club* **and Yacht Club of Hyderabad. *

*3. Trek2Help by Svechha** - Register for trekking with *Svechha *by
sending a mail to in...@svechha.org *for a trekking in Araku Valley for a
nominal fee, between *Sep 26 & Oct 2. *Svechha a non-profit organization,
has lighted up the dark lives of almost 400 families so far and is looking
forward to take this number much higher.

*4. Dandiya Nite By the Rotary Club of Bhagyanagar **– Register with
families to be for the Dandiya nite being organized by Rotary Club of
Bhagyanagar on Oct 2, from 7.30 to 10.30 pm at GVR Gardens, New Bowenpalli
and contribute to spreading joy in the lives of the needy. The proceeds will
be used for projects in the areas of Health, Drinking water and Education,

*5. Kids2Kids by Svechha** - * Kids from the advantaged group can donate
their excess stuff like school bags, a pair of new slippers of her/his size
to kids from a less advantaged background through Svechha between Sep 26 to
Oct 2. Write to in...@svechha.org to arrange for a collection of the stuff.

*6. Street Children Day out by Svechha** – *Svechha is planning a fun day* *for
*S*treet Children during the week. These kids will be taken to the zoo and
have a fun filled day, enjoy the activities which volunteers conduct and

*7. SEVEN DAYS SEVEN GIVINGS** – The young folks from Arora College are out
there to lead by example in what they believe. All the students are
participating in “SEVEN DAYS SEVEN GIVINGS”. Other
Schools/Colleges/Corporate/Society/Individuals can make contribute different
things daily during the week and the same will be distributed amongst the
needy people. Dates of collection of items at Arora College, is between Sep
26 to Oct 1 and distribution will be done on Oct 2. Write to

*8. Shadow the CEO by ISB** - Students of ISB will bid to shadow a CEO of
their choice for an entire day. The funds generated from this initiative go
towards a charity of the CEO’s choice. The objective of this programme is
twofold – engage ISB students in the act of giving and provide them with a
lifetime opportunity to observe and learn lessons by spending a day with a
CEO. Several distinguished CEOs are already onboard the programme including
Rajat Gupta, Narayan Murthy, Adi Godrej, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Sanjay Nair,
Pramath Sinha, Deepak Parekh, and GV Sanjay Reddy. *

*9. ISB Idiya – **A social entrepreneurship contest where executives and
aspiring entrepreneurs will participate. They prepare a detailed social
business plan. The contest is evaluated by a panel of judges. ISB support
the winner to implement his business venture. Interested aspiring
entrepreneurs can register between Sep 26 to Oct 2 with Sriram

*10.** **Blood Donation Camp **– Get your corporate/housing society/etc to
conduct a blood donation camp and help a needy patient. Collection of blood

*11. Rotaract Club of Hyderabad East Events **– The Rotaract Club of
Hyderabad East is conducting multiple events like Craftoon, Naye Rang,

Challenge, is India’s first online giving challenge. It provides a way for
NGOs to raise even more money for their cause through a matching grant from
GiveIndia.
