Dear Friends & Well Wishers:

This is an update I have on this new initiative from PCT. Please go over the attached document for complete details of the program. We are all set to begin our initiative in some selected schools & colleges starting next week (Jan 2010).

This is our first attempt to dicument the programme and we will keep enhancing it as and when we learn more on our way.

I have also attached a note at the very end of the document on our initial experiments on this programme.

Your feedback and suggestions will help us in great deal in this attempt. Please take few minutes to go over the document and provide your inputs.

Best Regards,

Dear Friends & Well Wishers:

Here is some information on a New Intiative Project that we are thinking of at PCT. This is still in the planning stage and I would love to hear from you with any suggestions, recommendations as well as your willingness to be part of this Project Team.

Andhra Pradesh name today is on the map of education and ranks; model to all other states because of our systematic taming of young minds. While feeling happy & proud for our students' success stories, at the same time I am also pinched & concerned by few things.

Lately, we keep hearing about several pretty bad occurrences of suicides, attrocities of various levels on college girls in Andhra Pradesh. I personally am very disturbed by these tragic stories and wondering what as an individual and as an organization can do to help our younger generation.

The Project we are seriously thinking about is to mentor the school/college children in rural villages to strenghthen them and make them realize their own potential. Once we are able to create a positive attitude in them, no matter what happens, they WILL SUCCEED in life. Our main focus is the villages where there aren't enough resources available to motivate the children.

I believe, our students are power-house of latent talents. We need to awaken the sleeping genius within them.  The need of the day is a Paramahamsa to find out a Vivekananda in Narendra!  To be short enough, the goal of this Project is to inform (as many as possible), reform (as much as we can) and transform (as best as we can) student minds!

One of our young PCT volunteers in Hyderabad (Ms. Rajyalakshmi) has already started preparing some material on this subject. She also happens to have a good exposure to this topic. The Project is in the planning stage and I am still working on the timelines, approach, reach & financials. The reason for giving you heads up now is to see if YOU can offer any kind of help. Ideally, I want to form a dedicated team for this project with people from diverse backgrounds.

PLEASE let me know if you (or someone you know of)  can be part of this project.

I will keep you posted with the progress of this project as we move along.

Its a great initiative. We at Soch!!! an NGO working to change attitudes about road safety go to rural areas and cities but sometimes it is very hard to get appointments as they have so much to study and portions need to be completed. Sometimes the management of certain schools feel it is a waste of time and show no interest though hundreds of youngsters die on the roads.
Do you have a plan of how you will contact the schools or any network?
Wish you all the best

Dear all,

It is about time this kind of programs are to be made a regular part
in the schools/colleges.

Especially with the current education system coupled
with our society's excessive obsession with success that too
at any cost which completely disregards the individual's potential.

A.P accounts for 2nd-highest number of suicide as per a recent study.

Hope this kind of programs will help.
(it would be great if combined with career guidance programs)

R Krishna

Hai Birds,

Good initiative , we at SRUJANAVANI are also experimenting on similar lines for the past 2 years in and around Visakhapatnam schools and colleges. The key challenge always lies in convincing management about importance of such initiatives. Our experience is clearly showing that we have spend much on convincing managements to make this program success. Anyhow i wish Good Luck for PCT.
