Hi,

I'm trying to get BEAST 2.1.0c to read my data file and I get the following error:

Parsing error - poorly formed BEAST file, X694-7-a.xml:
The '<sequence>' element with id, 'seq_d0009.300.15', is incorrectly constructed.
The following was expected:
Exactly one ELEMENT of type Taxon REQUIRED

The first line of the alignment has this syntax:

<sequence id="seq_d0009.300.15" taxon="d0009.300.15" totalcount="4" value="ATTTGGAAAGGACCAGCC.....TGA"/>

I was successful in getting the RSV2 tutorial data set to work and it appears to have the same xml code for reading the sequence data as far as I can see.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Jerry

Dear Jerry,

If you are willing to email me the input file I can try to ascertain what is wrong.

Cheers
Alexei

Was this resolved? I am getting the same error.

Hi Rebecca,

The error message appears to be a BEAST 1 message, while the XML looks like BEAST 2 XML format. The XML formats of the two versions are not compatible. Just run BEAST 2 on your XML and the problem should be fixed.

Cheers,
Remco

Hi I have exactly the same error, even running the testdata that is provided in tutorial (run1.xml), the other problem is that I cannot run this through BEAST v2, because I get another error indicating that according my .xml file I should use v1.4
