Dear Sir,

We invite a technical article for publication of your recent success
of construction of the bamboo house
(http://www.inbar.int/show.asp?BoardID=98&NewsID=791) in our journal
IJAREEP , a print version, which is also made available online, please
check web site at https://sites.google.com/a/ijareep.org/www/ for
earlier articles.

If you could please include design details, tips for construction,
joinery details, foundation details and other relevant information,
which could be beneficial for replication in our south parts of
country, we would highly appreciate the same.

with warm regards,
P Purushothaman

ps: we also request other members to contribute technical papers in
our journal of action research and engineering.

Dear Olly,

I am attaching a document and an a picture on bamboo housing that I have been working on. I think that the work done in Tripura would be more relevant to your project in Bhutan, the picture is from an ongoing work in North Bengal quite adjacent to Bhutan where seismic factors have been taken into consideration also.

I guess we met during the INBAR meet in Shanghai and Beijing during the recent world fair.

    Dear friends and colleagues,

I'd like to take the chance to introduce a recently completed
demonstration house built by INBAR in Bhutan with support from the
Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Social Forestry Division. You can
find a small write up about the building on INBAR's website at:

    http://www.inbar.int/show.asp?BoardID=98&NewsID=791

We will be supporting Bhutan to build a further three bamboo
structures in 2012 and hope to produce a publication on our
experiences by the end of the year.

Recently, I was also approached by UN Habitat for information on any
good case studies where bamboo has been used in urban slum upgrading.
If you have been involved in any such projects, or know of good
    examples, please contact me (obf...@inbar.int)

    Many thanks,

    Olly

    Dear Pulaha,

Thank you very much for sharing this project with us. We have also recently been reviewing construction techniques in the Northeast for an ICAR funded project and we definitely will bear these things in mind, while, at the same time, also respecting the architectural culture and local vernacular of Bhutan.

    Thanks again for sharing,

    Dear Pulaha,

The model bamboo house (model.b.jpeg) is awesome.  Can you give me an estimate of how much it might cost?  Has this been built?  If so, I would like a picture of the completed structure, and if possible, the building steps and pictures of its construction.

    Thank you very much.
