Dear friends and colleagues,
I'd like to take the chance to introduce a recently completed
demonstration house built by INBAR in Bhutan with support from the
Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Social Forestry Division. You can
find a small write up about the building on INBAR's website at:
http://www.inbar.int/show.asp?BoardID=98&NewsID=791
We will be supporting Bhutan to build a further three bamboo
structures in 2012 and hope to produce a publication on our
experiences by the end of the year.
Recently, I was also approached by UN Habitat for information on any
good case studies where bamboo has been used in urban slum upgrading.
If you have been involved in any such projects, or know of good
examples, please contact me (obf...@inbar.int)
Many thanks,
Olly

Dear Pulaha,
Thank you very much for sharing this project with us. We have also recently been reviewing construction techniques in the Northeast for an ICAR funded project and we definitely will bear these things in mind, while, at the same time, also respecting the architectural culture and local vernacular of Bhutan.
Thanks again for sharing,
Mr. Oliver Frith
