Hi all!
Thanks to Naveen, im now the ecstatic owner of a 8" goto celestron telescope!
Saw an amazing number of sky objects :
Telescopic objects :
1. Jupiter with 3 of its moons and 2 bands
2. A half Venus (phase) must confess, half or not,, it sure looks like a bulb in the sky!
3. Mars with it polar caps and a dark lane of dust
Constellations : naked eye
Cannis major (Sirius) , face, body, legs and tail
Leo,in full form with Regulus
Puppis quietly following at a distance from C Majoris
Cannis minor with its alpha Procyon
Gemini, with Pollux and Castor
Orion - special was realizing Mintaka has a binary!
Bootes, with Arcturus
Virgo with Spica
Now for the super interesting telescopic objects :
A globular cluster - M79 in Lepus. - (wow - so many thousands of lite yrs back)
Another globular cluster - M78 - in Orion
An open cluster M67- which has moved out of the band of the milkyway by abt 1000 lite yrs away! This was in Cancer, which we couldn't see at all!
Asterisms :
Arrow Head ( in Minocerus? )
Saw one more, but I forgot :-(
Many binary stars:
Iota in Cancer
Castor in Gemini
Mintaka in Orion
And at least another 4 more, but now my mind is swirling like a galaxy!
And tertiary stars, probably in Monocerus. Whoa, first time saw one!
All this Thanks to Naveen Nanjundappa spending 5 1/2 hrs with me and my family!
