Isabel da Costa was born 02 Jul 1679, married Manoel Rodrigues Afonso on 19 Nov 1711 in Martiz Sao Jorge, Nordeste.  He was born in Sao Pedro, Vila Franca and died before 1741.
Daughter Maria Franco born abt 1720 in Matriz Sao Jorge, died before 1792.  She married Felipe Araujo son of Manoel Aguiar Jr and Maria de Araujo on 15 July 1741, he died 23 May 1774.
Francisco Franco son of Felipe Araujo and Maria Franco was born 14 Nov 1744 in Matriz Sao Jorge, Nordeste and died before 02 Mar 1783 in Matriz Sao Jorge, Nordeste.  He married Josepha Medeiros Pacheco daughter of Francisco Pacheco and Isabel de Medeiros on 23 May 1774. Josepha was born 19 Mar 1748 in Matriz Sao Jorge, Nordeste.
Manoel Franco Pacheco was born 24 Feb 1775 in Matriz Sao Jorge and died 01 Sep 1842 in Matriz Sao Jorge.  He married first time to Maria Francesca Pimental daughter of Francisco Furtado and Maria Pimental 06 Mar1795 in Matriz Sao Jorge.  She died 22 Feb 1810.
Manoel Franco Pacheco married second time to Rosaria Maria Pacheco Viera daughter of Manoel Viera and Antonia Pacheco on 28 Jun 1810 in Matriz Sao Jorge.  Rosaria was born 28 Dec 1778 in Matriz Sao Jorge and died 05 Sep 1848 in Matriz Sao Jorge.
Manoel Franco Pacheco was the start of the Franco Pacheco line which still exists in Pedreira, Nordeste.
 
Josepha Medeiros Pacheco is a direct descendent of Pedro Vaz, Marinheiro, born abt. 1460 in Portugal.  He is listed in Rodrigo Rodrigues and was one of the earliest settlers of Sao Miguel.  All I know about him is that he was involved in ship building.  He lived in Ponta Delgada across the street from the "prison".  Two of my grandparents descend from him.  Does anyone know anything about this man?

I'm sorry, I thought I sent this to you as well as JR.  This is Josepha's ancestor chart to Pedro Vaz, Marinheiro.  I descend from his son Diogo and his brother Diogo.  Am also checking on a connection to his son Duarte.  The marriage of his son Joao needs to be verified.
There was a mistake and I don't remember if I corrected it.

This Manoel da Costa Ponte married Maria de Medeiros is the grandfather of Josepha Medeiros Pacheco in my chart.  That is all I have on him.

I also have a Manoel da Costa Ponte son of Jose da Costa And BeatrIz Goncalves, born 23 Apr 1645 in Sao Jose, Ponta Delgada, married Catarina da Costa 1690 in Santo Antonio alem Capelas, died in Capelas 29 Jan 1741.  He is in my paternal line.

I can get you more on him if needed.

I found a few children for Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros, including your Isabel (b. March 2 1713 in Matriz Nordeste). Your Maria de Medeiros was native of Faial da Terra, Povoação. I wasnt able to find Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros marriage (I looked before 1707, as I have first child Maria b. Dec. 29 1706, in the parishes of Faial da Terra, Matriz Nordeste, Achada and Achadinha but nothing)

You say that Antonio is the son of Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros? Would this be Antonio de Medeiros and Ana de Pimentel, married Nov 21-1737?

It seems the marriage of Manuel Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros is not in my database. Did you try Nordestinho? I found it quite difficult in the early part and tried slogging through the baptisms. There is no question some marriages are missing in Nordeste in the 1646-1650 era and later in early 1700's, such as the period of 1698-1710. The records there are quite difficult, even in the baptisms.

Yes. That is the same Antonio de Medeiros married in 1737 I didnt bother with Nordestinho cause they were having children already in 1698. While marriages in Nordestinho only start in 1700. Since Maria de Medeiros was born in Faial da Terra, that would be my first bet for where they married, but marriages only start in 1696. Since they were having children in 1698 maybe they could have married where the records are lost (bef. 1696) or as you mention in the time period that Nordeste records seem to be missing.

I recall retrieving some baptisms pre-1700 from Nordestinho. I just looked it up, and it starts circa 1687.

Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros had children in Matriz Nordeste, and most likely married in Faial bef. 1698. The Nordestinho records from 1687 and forward wouldn't add any new info, except some more children. But to find Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros parents I would still need their marriage record. At same time this family doesn't seem to have ties to Nordestinho. Manuel was born in Nordeste and Maria in Faial, as some of their children baptism records mention

That's correct, Antonio de Medeiros Ponte is my 8th ggf , married to Ana de Pimentel, daughter of Antonio de Simas and Manuel Senra Nov 21 1737 in S. Jorge, Nordeste.

I have not been unable to find his Parents' marriage, either.  Thanks for suggesting Nordestinho I didn't think to look there.

Manuel da Costa Ponte and Maria de Medeiros were having children in 1698. Nordestinho marriages start in 1700. I hardly doubt you will find a marriage in 1698 or prior when the records only start in 1700

So it may be that Antonio de Medeiros is related to Cna de Medeiros and is therefore the child of the same Estevao Afonso. Maybe not. Anyway, the point is it worth investigating and that is how I try to go around dead ends. You may never find the actual marriage. But it is possible to piece things together indirectly.  JR
