Access the Passaportes (which are on the CCA) through Tombo.pt. Once you are on the Azores page, the passaportes links will be on the main screen, in the middle.
It took the Peninsular about 2 weeks to get to the east coast. I'd start with 9 June 1894 and work my way back in time. Yeah, it's impossible for the ship to make it in a day, but I wouldn't want to miss my ancestors either. It's probably only 10 extra minutes of looking.
