The most important thing about the AutoControl plugin is that it changes the way we interact with the browser, which is basically the entire world we live and work in. It’s like when humans first jumped from slow walking to cars.

In terms of interaction details, design, stability, and versatility, it’s just top-tier while it’s FREE. What’s really unfortunate though is how low-key it is online—people’s lives would definitely be better with this extension.

I saw so many design details that really match my vibe on the settings page. The interaction details, like the small tutorial animation triggered by hovering over the pointer, and the white mask transitions, make everything look as refined as a game UI. And then in Options > Mouse Gestures > hit the “Test Gestures” button, the whole screen turns white. The text “try your gestures now” quickly turns dark gray, then slowly transitions to light white, with the gray and pure white backgrounds almost blending into one. When I noticed this design, I was almost in awe. It’s the epitome of user-friendly design. It is nearly the design I dream of creating. Everything is so smooth and intuitive. It’s just such a well-thought-out experience.

What hit me even more is the Play Audio module they added into the chain. The first time I discovered this feature, along with the detailed advanced settings and preset sound effects that can be customized with local files, I felt like there was a deep connection between me and the developer. I’ve always had a dream of creating a custom gesture interaction and sound feedback system for Windows, one that frees people from the pointless task of moving the pointer to those tiny 28x41px ugly buttons, allowing their attention to be spent on creating something meaningful. Sound effects are an essential part of this. It’s like after you perform an action, you ask your good buddy for something, and he comes over, pats you on the shoulder, and says, “Hey buddy, I got you.” Instead of the usual void of no feedback.

If this plugin had more visibility, it could easily be a go-to for so many people. It’s a shame it’s not getting the recognition it truly deserves.

Question:
How likely is it that you could develop a piece of software with similar logic and functionality to AutoControl, but one that maps actions not just within the browser, but for global navigation across Windows OS?

Where can I donate for AC💗?

Agree on 100%! Fantastic extension. I can't even image how much effort the developer has put into it.
I believe many people who installed this extension are using only about 5-10% of its functionality.
I have learned many other options from running scripts to running local files and I am still behind :)
Totally agree, this extension deserves a prize and must be on the very top in Chrome Web store!
I have been using this extension for years now without a single issue. Without it, I feel armless now.
Amazing piece of art!

Very widely I am using it for auto-filtering websites' content, automatic age verification, tabs operations of course, downloading videos from any source, using any API on internet including ChatGPT, executing local programs in the context of a web page, modifying website content on-the-fly, running all sorts of custom scripts, interacting between the browser and the local system, and many more... Tons of amazing features are hidden under Advanced actions, where you can play with a clipboard, local system, desktop, sound and screen, menus, windows and bookmarks...

It's technically possible to do that already. Some AutoControl users have connected an AutoControl script with an AutoHotkey script in order to execute any action supported by the AHK language.
See here for an example:

This allows you to use global AutoControl triggers (those which can run when the browser is not the focused program) to fire all sort of actions outside the browser.
