Interesting. It's been a while since a new route was introduced there.

Is the NorthConnex tunnel still numbered M11? If that's the case I wonder how (or if) they'll link the two....

There have been some A11 signs popping up along the A6 as the A6 signs are replaced. It looks like A11 will replace A28 between Northconnex/M2 to the corner of Cumberland Highway and Marsden Road, then replacing existing A6 from Carlingford to Heathcote? A11/M11 will then go from Heathcote to the end of Northconnex at Wahroonga and M1.

This a continuation of https://groups.google.com/g/aussie-highways/c/AlUTepn2rr8.
It looks to me like A6 is becoming A11 to avoid confusion with the new M6.

Hi all,

I went for a drive to the Heathcote / Princes Hwy intersection after seeing that post. Only 2 signs were changed heading north on the Princes Highway to the intersection.
Strangely enough the sign on the opposite side still has A6.
I drove north towards Menai, and back to Heathcote Rd but no other mention of A11.

Perhaps the A/M 11 is seen as an alternate A/M 1 through Sydney.

The question remains where would the A6 / M6 go?
The M6 will be 4km for at least a decade.
The A1 / M1 will continue as it is.

Was the sign on the other side still the old one or had it been replaced recently also?
Sam said in the original conversation https://groups.google.com/g/aussie-highways/c/AlUTepn2rr8 that there's half a dozen between Kissing Point Rd and Parramatta Rd manufactured by G&B in November 2024, that have the borderless A6 on a cover plate. GSV shows one at Holker St.

"I think I saw an A11 route number on Silverwater Road near Ermington"

"Yeah that one's been there for quite a while now. Seemed like it was an error because there weren't any others but they're coming through now. A bit weird near    Auburn because they've got A6 and A11 signs on the same intersection."

It leads me to think the cover plates have now been taken off to reveal A11.

I'm sticking to the theory that the A6 will become A11 to avoid confusion with the new M6 and the route will connect to the M11. If A11 appears along Pennant Hills Rd between the M11 and Marsden Rd then I think that would confirm it.

just related to the M6 construction is back underway to finish tunneling. Look forward to more information on what methods they are using to stabilise the ground and construction timeframe now. The contractor wanted to walk away from the job apparently, not sure what was true or not.
