PLEASE BE AWARE:
Friends on a large catamaran hit some unlit fish farms at the southern end of Gran Canaria at night.
They had to call the coast guard to evacuate the wife and children.
The husband stayed with the boat and was towed off the circular fish farm in the morning.
The boat sustained damage.
Location is: N 27 46.796 W 15 25.734.
Our chartplotter (Raymarine with Navionics) does not show the fish farm at this location. It does show a fish farm further west.
There are several farms in the area and are unlit.
Beware!

Hi Terry. I was in the office this morning and the marina is full with a waiting list.  You would be better off visiting the office now open again at 4pm and talking to Fernando, he is very helpful. Alfred Deubler is an SSB expert but I'm sure if you call him he can help/advise. 0034 626314933.

A lot of us are leaving over the weekend and there is a meeting at 4pm tomorrow at the sailors bar.

Kind regards and welcome to Las Palmas!

Jo

Hello all,
Arrived in Las Palmas 7am today.

VHF radio blew a fuse while I was tying to call the marina.
Anyone know a contact to get it repaired

Also, does anyone have an idea about wait times for a marina spot?

There are a group of sailors in Las Palmas planning to leave around the same time, mid January when the weather settles down, to Barbados via Cape Verde.  We are hoping to establish a daily net and share offshore contact details.  If you are leaving at a similar time either from Las Palmas or one of the other islands you are very welcome to join us. Just let me know ASAP.  Thanks, Jackie, Rivalady
