Hi All
Sondela left Las Palmas on 13th December and arrived in Grenada on 6th January.
Both Genoas went for a swim which slowed us down a bit. Happily the main one is now reinstated!
Water is great for swimming.

Interesting. Did you manage any HF communication?

Hi
Sadly not with the crossing group. We did talk to both a  UK  friend and a Jersey Ham who gave us news and weather forecasts each day.
An ARC boat was in touch by email, while we were in the Canaries, but as we didn't get our Pactor set up we couldn't make contact on passage.
We saw 2 yachts on the way but couldn't make contact.
Glad to have arrived

Thanks.
And is your Jersey ham on any sched?

Which sheds do you favour in the Windies.
It’s hard to acquire info from the real world!!
David.

Hi
The  Jersey contact is Steve GJ7DNI. He works,  so is on frequency weekends at 10.00 GMT. The bad news is that this is a bit early to hear him this far South.
We moved our other contact to 11.00 GMT which gave better comms.
However if you are within range it's worth a try.
Cheers
Kim

On our way to  Barbuda and St Martin now Latter will be our next Internet opportunity.
Hope to hear you on the air.

Hi David
Dan Hogarth has already left . Copy of email sent to us
I usually listen to the OCC Net at 0730L (1130Z)on 6227 switching to 4027 about 0745L .  It runs from Mon - Sat with a different controller each day so reception can be a smidge variable but usually one can hear someone - esp at present when there are 3 of us in the bay.  I used the 6MHz crossing last year and it worked fine for up to about 1,000NM.  The alternative was 8152 which also worked fine.  To start with we listen to the OCC and then took over when they switched reverting to 1130Z once out of range.
Thoughts?
We still listen to Mike and hopefully the Jersey Ham will kick in too.  This doesn't help boat to boat but maybe we can find a frequency and time when we can talk direct. Mike could relate the frequency
Hope this helps. We hope to leave tomorrow from St Martin - Terciera.
