Have you created the data.img on installation?
This is necessary for installing to ntfs.

Hi. I had the same problem and my thread is here:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-x86/browse_thread/thread/0e49574f3e2062e4

But in short:
Be carefull and read all the questions during the installation. Do not
cancel the attempt to create the space for user data.
And one more thing. Booting android from the stick (without
installation to HDD) will not save the user data. It is just for
"taste it".
Regards,
Marek

Sry, i wasnt very complete. Yes ive created user data.img and sd
during install. I am running from hd and NTSF will only work...Ext 2
and 3 come up with error 17 on bootup, strange eh? Ive also tried 3.2
Asus and Tegra2 and4.0 Tegra2 iso's and none will save userdata.After
install i goto market and install file expert to verify userdata
exists and also in windows the file exists but is empty. I install
with read/right option also. Dont get it!

Hello,

did you created the ext3 partition within the Android installer? If yes,
do again, with gparted live iso. This seems to be the same problem we
runned in with the WeTab.

NTFS is not a good soulution for Android root file system as su does not
work (suid not supported) and Android Market / Google Play isn't working
well with it - you always have to reset your google account on the
Android device to be able to download apps.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Seems like NTSF and fat are the only
formats being writen by the installer. Didnt have any problems with
android market but was useless having to reenter info everytime. I
like how fast it is compared to my GT I5500.

Now ive used gparted and formatted my partition to ext3. Good thing i
have other comps cause it rewrites bootloader so theres no goin back
to android/windows menu. during reinstall of android i choose my ext3
pasrtition, no format, but i dont get option to create user image. Ive
tried before with the built in tool and when choosing anything but
ntsf you never get option to create user data. Any idaes? I cant just
make a data folder cause its an iso
