I just wanted to know if this is normal. Only some of my apps aren't working now. Skype is broken, Camera is broken and a lot of old 2D games don't seem to run to well either. 3D games run a lot better but I had seen that as one of the main fixes in 5.1-rc1. I know this is in alpha/beta so its expected that things are either broken or tend to break from time to time so I just wanted to know if this is happening to anybody else.

As far as I know in 5.1-rc 1 camera works fine and some other games too but Skype doesn't work due to arm libraries

Interesting I had Skype working in previous versions up until 4.4 where it broke completely as well as other apps that used to work one of them being Striker 1945 that shmup game.  As for camera I guess it would work however the app to use it locks up and for some reason I can't move forward with it.

Open /system/lib/arm and tell me how many files are there just 1 or 2 or many?

There seems to be a lot of files in there.  I'm going to attach some screen shots and hope that works.

There is only one file.  CPUINFO as seen in this new screenshot.  Did the format not work properly?  Should I reinstall?

Instagram worked fine on Kitkat.
I don't think this has anything to do whether the device is detected as
a phone or a tablet.

(there are tablets with phone functionality).

Yeah I don't believe it has anything to do with that.  We have to remember that this is in development so any of the issues that I am having can be in regards to issues with development and could be bug related.

You should check this option and then try to run Skype but first connect to a good stable network and wait for some time so that arm libraries can be downloaded automatically by the system. After some time check arm folder again for files

Thanks for the info it actually works now.  The camera app freezes so I suppose there is a few more files that need to be downloaded or it might work upon a restart so I'll give heads up later on that.

Happy to know it worked for you :).I know there are graphics problems in 5.1 rc1 btw 4.4 rc3 graphics are better than lollipop 5.1 rc1. For solution maybe wait for the next release :(

Hey Guys,

After enabling App Compatibility Apps like Snapchat and Facebook messenger finally worked after I installed them form Google Play YAYY :) thank you!!

However Apps like Angry Birds and Google Maps get blacks screens as if there is some graphical issue. Angry Birds is completely black and Google Maps is only black on the actual Map section (the right side) but the left where you type in the location and see a picture of the city works.

Any idea guys? :) wonder what the issue is hmm :/

"Not good" is a very imprecise and non-technical word. It doesn't provide any useful information we can address.

A useful report should include your test environment and devices (especially the graphic chip in this case), the problematic scenarios, and related debug information (logcat, dmesg, ...)

I'll State again, Because in one way or another I believe this needs to be an Option, I'm STILL RUNNING 4.4-RC2 because Fuzzy Made a Kernel for me, The Kernel Emulates the TOUCH SCREEN with a Synaptics Touchpad, and Works with a Mouse (As a Mouse), So I have the Best of BOTH worlds on an OLD 1750 Dell Inspiron.....

Okay well I have a touch pad but for some reason that is emulating the mouse.  I wouldn't mind doing keyboard and mouse either that would really help getting some games to run.  I can't currently play those Relic run and jump games cause the mouse isn't emulated to play them.

it's extremely hard for a developer to very what's a persons eyes sees....therefore PROOF
is needed, that's why there are logs....sometimes one person doesn't see what a developer does and
therefore the information gets skewed and post / answers tend to go on...and on...and on......and the real
issue never gets addressed......so just provide the information requested if possible...!!!

I do remember there was a small issue with Uno Friends and possibly that is the reason why you are saying its unplayable.  I believe if I remember correctly you had to put in your age I can't remember the trick I did but I believe I used the virtual Keyboard and typed my age then pressed next and you were on your way.  You don't need Tincore to play the game either it works out of the box.

Another issue I have is with the Mic.  I've tried using the ALSA app and it doesn't do any better.  However what it does is record noise its not even usable for Skype conversations.  Like I said this laptop is pretty mashed up a friend gave it to me and the only reason for using it was this nice little project.  For me the system is starting to run better.  I found turning off notifcations for Facebook, Messenger and Skype help cause the system takes time to load all the information of messages you received friends and trust me it can be a big number if you go days without using your machine.

For your mic go to /etc and open init.sh as text now search for 'Internal mic boost'after finding it erase the 'Boost' in it and restart it'll work fine

okay i'll give that a test.  I really wish I could get the camera to work as well.  I don't care about getting the app to work to much but for some reason the OS turns the Camera upside down.

Try turning mic volume to 2 or 1. Mine was set to 3 and all it recorded was static..

I've tried both methods of course I got the root error so I used Turbo Editor.  Went to System/etc then opened init.sh.  Changed the Internal Mic Boost to Internal Mic and of course changed the 3 to 1.  I boot up my system and the Android logo is removed and will no longer boot.   No worries I do know I can reinstall without format and that'll fix the init.sh file.

Verify your file permissions. And in my version there was already an internal mic and mic boost... So instead of changing I'd just add.

Just use the x86 version one, don't use x86-64, the 64-bit kernel is unstable with x86 android

I may already be using the x86 version as far as I know.  There is an option to install EFI bootloader but my system of course doesn't take advantage of that being an older machine using the legacy bios method.

Have you guys managed to get Snapchat working in any of the Android versions?

It opens for me but then crashes when I attempt to sign in. Guess it's something related to the camera...

I found out the issue for me was that my computer wasn't fully compatible.  Do note that this is still in early stages so its possible that, that is the reason why a lot of things don't work properly.
