Over in Virginia, 20 year old Curtis Lee White, who went on a stabbing
rampage inside of a house where a bunch of teen girls were having a slumber
party, stabbing four teens, and killing a 17 year old girl, has decided to
enter a guilty plea, after several different psychiatrists told his lawyers
that an insanity defense would not work for Curtis, based upon his demeanor and
rationality. He still faces the likelihood of a Life prison sentence. In cases
like this, it really doesn't pay to plead guilty and throw yourself on the
mercy of the court, IMO, unless there is a CLEAR plea bargain deal under which
prosecutors agree to specifically ask the judge to impose a lenient sentence.
For some reason, this case reminds me of a teen slasher movie scenario.
House full of young teens having a slumber party, and a slightly older male
gains access and embarks upon a stabbing rampage. This incident occured almost
two full years ago, so Curtis was in fact only 18 years old himself when he
undertook this stabbing spree. It was in August of 1996 when he broke into the
house where SIX teens were spending the night, in classic slumber party
fashion. One of the teens was Curtis's estranged 17 year old girlfriend, but he
did not specifically target her for death. Instead, he raped a different teen
girl, then repeatedly stabbed her, 18 times, killing her. He did stab his
girlfriend, along with two of her siblings, but those stab wounds were not
fatal.
It's interesting that he chose to spare the life of his former gal-pal, and
rape/murder someone he apparently did not know well, if at all, when both
females were equally accessable and vulnerable to him and his knife.
I wonder if Curtis was familiar with the horror movie, "Slumber Party
massacre"? As I recall, the plot of that movie was VERY similar to this actual
crime, although of course more young gals DIED in the movie. We get some nicely
detailed accounts below, of exactly how the stabbing rampage played itself out.
Curtis initiated the rampage just HOURS after his gal-pal broke up with him
over the phone. In a rage, he stormed into the house, and yelled at his former
girlfriend and the other teens: "You never thought a crazy person could come
into your house." He tried to kiss his former girlfriend, bit her on the neck,
then forced her and her friend to take off their clothes. He then verbally
stated to the two girls and the other 4 teens inside of the house that he had
just SHARPENED his knife and: "I always wanted to know what it felt like to
kill someone." He then ordered Michelle, the girl that he ended up killing, to
perform oral sex on him, while at the same time he tried to have vaginal/anal
sex with his former girlfriend. He then stabbed Michelle 18 times with the
sharpened steak knife that he had brought with him. The other teens then jumped
curtis, and managed to fight him off for awhile, until Curtis's own FATHER, who
lived nearby, managed to tackle and hold Curtis for police. He did stab 3 of
the other teens, but was unable to kill them.

horny stabber, just point your web browser to:

Yup, believe it or not the insane god myth does play a role in these
killings, with Curtis praying out loud to god just after inflicting his fatal
stab wounds on 17 year old Michelle, and then declaring that god does not exist
and talking about the devil.
Oh well, at least Curtis got to express his rage, via this rampage. Only
killed one, but it was a colorful attack, that deserves mention here at the NG,
IMNSVHO.
Take care, JOE

Man pleads guilty in slumber party stabbings
CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - A man accused of crashing a sleepover and stabbing four
teen-agers, killing a 17-year-old girl, pleaded guilty after his lawyers
realized they couldn't establish an insanity defense.
Curtis Lee White II, 20, pleaded Monday to a reduced charge of first-degree
murder and six other felony counts.
The plea deal came as White was preparing to stand trial in Chesapeake Circuit
Court on charges of capital murder, burglary, forcible sodomy, attempted rape
and three counts of malicious wounding.
White faces a maximum sentence of two life prison terms, plus 90 years, when he
is sentenced Oct. 9. The deal did not include a sentencing recommendation.
Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Nancy Parr said prosecutors previously had
decided not to seek the death penalty. A capital murder conviction would have
carried a mandatory life sentence, Ms. Parr said. First-degree murder carries a
maximum of life.
White quietly responded ``guilty'' seven times as each charge was read aloud.
He made no other statements in court.
Judge Russell Townsend accepted the guilty pleas, but said he would wait until
the sentencing hearing to formally convict White.
White's lawyer, William P. Robinson Jr., told Townsend a psychiatrist and
psychologist had determined that there was not enough evidence to support an
insanity defense. Robinson said he plans to explain at the sentencing hearing
that there were mitigating factors in the crime.
During the hearing, as Ms. Parr laid out the prosecutors' evidence, members of
the slain girl's family buried their faces in their hands and wept at the
gruesome details.
Outside the courtroom, the mother of the girl who was killed, Michelle Harper,
said faith in God had helped the family deal with the tragedy.
``Both families are going through this,'' said Betty Harper, wearing a gold
chain with her daughter's name and a heart on it. ``To lose a loved one is
hard. Now they are doing it as well.''
White's family declined to comment.
On Aug. 23, 1996, Ms. Parr said, White broke into a home in a quiet,
middle-class neighborhood where six teen-agers were spending the night.
White's 17-year-old girlfriend, her twin brother, and their 13-year-old sister
lived in the home with their father, a single parent who was not at the house
at the time. Michelle and two other teens were visiting the home.
According to Ms. Parr, witnesses said White came to the house from his home
across the street after his girlfriend broke up with him over the telephone.
After breaking into the house, White tried to kiss his girlfriend, bit her on
the neck and ordered her and Michelle to remove their clothing. Witnesses said
White told them he had just sharpened his knife, and said, ``I always wanted to
know what it felt like to kill someone.''
He then ordered Michelle to perform oral sex on him, attempted to rape his
girlfriend and stabbed Michelle 18 times with a steak knife he had brought with
him, Ms. Parr said. Michelle died at the scene from a stab wound to the chest.
White's former girlfriend said she woke her brother, who was in another room.
White and the brother fought, and the brother and his two sisters were stabbed
in the melee. They were treated at a hospital.
The two other guests escaped unharmed.
White was arrested at his house moments after the stabbings.
After the hearing Monday, Robinson said he knew of nothing in White's
background that hinted he was capable of such violence.
``The Harper family must have hearts as big as all outdoors to have gotten
themselves to the point where they can forgive Curtis,'' he said. ``All of us
have a breaking point. There is a dark side to all of us.''

Guilty plea could bring two life terms plus 90 years for slumber-party murder
and rape
BY NAOMI AOKI, The Virginian-Pilot
CHESAPEAKE -- Almost two years after going on a rampage at a back-to-school
slumber party in the Camelot neighborhood, Curtis Lee White II pleaded guilty
to first-degree murder and other charges for crimes he committed on that August
night.
White, now 20, admitted Monday in Circuit Court that he forced his way into his
former girlfriend's house on Aug. 23, 1996, sexually assaulted her and her
friend, and stabbed her friend to death.
He also stabbed and wounded his former girlfriend, her twin brother and their
younger sister.
White could receive up to two life sentences plus 90 years in prison. He is
scheduled to be sentenced in October.
After Monday's proceedings, the parents of Michelle Harper, the 17-year-old
murder victim, said they have compassion for White and his family. They said
they pray for the Whites. Outside the courthouse, White's mother and Harper's
mother hugged and tried to comfort each other.
``My daughter is gone and won't be back, but I have peace in knowing that her
soul is resting with Christ,'' Betty Harper said. ``I put myself in a mother's
place. Knowing and having to face what their son has done and that he is going
away for life, I sympathize with them.''
The Harpers said they approved of the plea agreement, which allowed White to
plead guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree murder. Though White originally
had been charged with capital murder, prosecutors did not plan to seek the
death penalty.
``It never was `a life for a life' with us,'' said Ronald Harper, Michelle's
father.
``I feel the need to put my arms around Curtis,'' Betty Harper said. ``He needs
to know that he is loved, that it's not the end of the world.''
Still, the Harpers said, they are glad that justice is finally coming.
Michelle Harper lived with her family on Darius Court in Camelot. She was a
rising senior at Deep Creek High School.
She was a joyful child, her mother said -- sweet, bright and always the first
to make peace with her brothers and sister after an argument.
``I'm grateful for all the good times that we had,'' Betty Harper said. ``When
I get sad, I can reach down deep and pull up the happy times.''
From testimony of surviving victims and witnesses and physical evidence in the
case, prosecutor Nancy Parr gave the following version of the events early in
the morning on Aug. 23:
Michelle Harper was at a slumber party with five other teens at a neighborhood
friend's house in the 3200 block of Bruno Drive.
The friend, who was White's girlfriend, and her twin brother and younger sister
were among the teens at the home. White, who lived across the street, had known
the family for years and had been dating the girl for about four years. The
family is not being identified because the girl was the victim of a sexual
assault.
On the night of the slumber party, White called the house four times. During
the fourth call, sometime after 3 a.m., his girlfriend broke up with him.
Minutes later, White showed up in the doorway of the girl's bedroom, where the
girlfriend and Harper were watching television.
``You never thought a crazy person could come into your house,'' White said to
them.
White sat down next to his ex-girlfriend, started to kiss her, then bit her on
the neck. He was holding what looked like a steak knife in his hand.
White then ordered Harper to take off her clothes and forced her to perform
oral sex. When Harper pushed away from him, he turned to his girlfriend and
tried to have sex with her.
White, who had been holding his girlfriend by the hand, cut the telephone cord
and tied her up with it when she tried to get away.
Then he turned back to Harper and stabbed her several times in the chest.
White's girlfriend saw tears in White's eyes. Harper was praying, asking the
Lord to help her. White told her there was no God and started talking about the
devil.
When the girlfriend begged White to stop hurting Harper, he stabbed the
girlfriend.
Then White left the room, and Harper and the girlfriend ran into her brother's
room and woke him.
White's girlfriend escaped through her brother's bedroom window. She told
Harper to come with her and ran to get White's parents. But Harper did not
follow.
A struggle ensued between White and the brother.
White stabbed him in the back of the neck. The two struggled all the way down
the stairs. White stabbed him again along the way, and twice more in the
kitchen.
The younger sister tried to break up the fight by getting between the two men
in the kitchen. She suffered a stab wound before White pushed her out of the
way.
White then chased the brother through the dining room and up the stairs. The
brother threw a chair at White and slammed his bedroom door to keep White out
of the room. But White kicked the bedroom door off the hinges and came in.
At one point, the brother had control of White, and White said: ``I'm tired,
let me go.'' If he would, White said, he'd leave.
The brother let him go when White's mother arrived.
Then White dragged the brother into another bedroom and tried to barricade the
door shut.
The terror finally ended when White's father grabbed White as he ran from the
house.
Harper was found collapsed at the bottom of the stairs. She was pronounced dead
at the scene. She had 18 stab wounds and six cuts.
Monday, White's head hung and his voice was barely audible as he pleaded guilty
to first-degree murder, attempted rape, sodomy, burglary and three counts of
malicious wounding.
Circuit Court Judge Russell Townsend accepted his guilty pleas. But Townsend
said he was going to wait for a pre-sentencing report before pronouncing a
final verdict.
White's attorney, William P. Robinson Jr., said there was nothing in White's
past to indicate he was violent. Robinson said the man who wielded a knife that
night was not the same man in court Monday or the same man his friends and
family knew.
``It's a tragedy. It's awful,'' Robinson said. ``In a real sense, the Harpers
have lost a daughter, and in another sense, the Whites are going to lose a
son.''
