Mr. Carr,

I have reviewed all the certified documents and this is what I found:

You opened an account of 04/13/2018 for 1 year high speed plus for $95.40 to renew every year.

You cancelled the account on 04/29/2020 (after being billed 95.40 a total of 3 times: $286.20)

You submitted a chargeback with your credit card and the credit card company reimbursed you $97.85.

You requested a refund from EasyNews. EasyNews stated they needed your PayPal email address to refund the money because the charges were too old to refund on the credit card.

You then demanded $1,000 from EasyNews. Due to the uncooperative nature of your correspondence with EasyNews they stopped communication.

EasyNews is willing to refund you $190.80 for the two charges. However, they need either an address or a PayPal email address. I understand you don’t have a PayPal account. If you could provide me with an address I will give them the information.

Thank you,

Hello, Mr. Carr. I’m attaching a fully electronic version and a handwritten version of our statement; you can choose to use whichever one suits you best. Please provide as much detail as possible about your complaint against EasyNews, including dates and payments if available. Please do also state whether you would like to pursue criminal charges. If you have the ability, the statement should be notarized and then emailed, faxed, or mailed back to Winter Park PD. If you are not able to have this notarized, please sign the form and we can work on an electronic notarization process.

As before, please let me know if you have additional questions that I can answer. Once we receive your statement, I will generate a report case number and provide that to you.

Greg,

I don’t recall getting any complaints regarding this business. We research our records for complaints or investigations involving Easynews, Usenet, and Omicron, and the only thing we found was a complaint against Easynews Holdings in 2009. Ultimately, the investigation revealed that nothing occurred within our jurisdiction and the case was unfounded. I conducted a search for Easynews Holdings, Inc through the Florida Division of Corporations and located an active business with an address of 127 West Fairbanks Avenue, #209, Winter Park, Florida 32789, which is the UPS store.

Because these complaints are internet based involving multiple jurisdictions, I suggest that a complaint be filed with the FBI Internet Crimes Complaint Center. The complaint can be filed on their website at https://www.ic3.gov/

I hope everything else is well for you.

Greg,

I am a detective with the Brookings Police Department. I was asked to look into your complaint regarding USENET. As of right now I don’t have a ton of answers but wanted to let you know what I’ve found out so far. The address listed for USENET is actually our local UPS Store. I was able to confirm with UPS USENET does have a mailbox at the store #146. I have identified the person who set up the box as a male out of Winter Park, Florida. It also appears he has a similar online business set up called Easynews, which comes back to a UPS store in Miami Florida. The phone numbers for both businesses appear to be out of Phoenix, AZ and I believe they are both VOIP numbers, which is quite unusual for a legitimate business. I believe I have also identified a legitimate business which this guy does work for in Winter Park, Florida so I am planning on doing some follow up with that company to see if I can find anything else out about him. I know these aren’t real answers right now but I can tell you there is no physical business her in Brookings, South Dakota that business operates out of and as far as I can tell no “employees” for the business here either. Why he chose to use a UPS mailbox in South Dakota is puzzling as well but I will continue to dig on this and see what I can find. I will let you know what I do find out regarding this. If you have any questions please let me know.

Fraud Committed By Usenet Server Against Me.

Greg Carr <greg...@yahoo.ca>
To:fa...@antifraudcentre.ca,bell...@antifraudcentre.ca

Sat., Dec. 5, 2020 at 12:34 a.m.

These ppl scammed me for around $2k I guesstimate. They offered a service that never worked and even after I cancelled it after some back and forth emails and they refunded a small part of the money they have tried a number of times by email to get me to use their scam service again.

USENET SERVER, Easynews, Omnicrom Media, Highwinds, Stackpath operating part of their their multi-national scam out of a phony address at a UPS store in Brookings, South Dakota?

Fri., Sep. 4 at 3:15 a.m.

© UsenetServer | 120 22nd Ave S. #146, Brookings, SD 57006 they sent me a email yesterday once again trying to scam me. Their so called service never worked for me and even after I cancelled the service which they acknowledged they continued to bill my credit card. I was able to get some of the money refunded by them but I figure they owe me 2 grand. Could you please cancel their mailbox since it is being used for fraud. Have great weekend.!!!

>
I know these aren’t real answers right now but I can
>tell you there is no physical business her in Brookings, South Dakota that business operates out of and as far as I can tell no “employees” for the business here either. Why he chose to use a UPS mailbox in South Dakota is puzzling as well but I will continue to dig on this and see what I can find. I will let you know what I do find out regarding this. If you have any questions please let me know.

>HW Media (the part of Highwinds still owned by Omicron Media) is well known for its reseller services and claiming to be the Usenet server with the largest retention. However, resellers of HW media fail to disclose that they work with the company. Most people who buy multiple accounts for increased binary completion end up buying multiple accounts from different HW resellers. This leads to people paying multiple times for the same service. This has drawn criticism from Usenet users that HW Media is trying to deceive customers by not making their resellers disclose their affiliation with HW Media. The list below is non-exhaustive list of HW Media resellers:
