BAYONNE, NJ - A North Arlington man said to be affiliated with the Hell’s Angels Motorcycle gang was arrested by members of the Bayonne Police Department Wednesday following a traffic stop.
According to Captain Eric Amato, Bernard W. Krynicki, 31, was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the area of 18th Street and Broadway. While conducting the stop, a report states, “Krynicki proceeded to make furtive movements while gripping items concealed in his pant pocket.”
An officer was able to observe a knife protruding from the suspect’s pocket leading them to remove him from the vehicle at which point a 9mm handgun was also found in his pocket.
A further search found Krynicki, who was wearing clothing indicating that he was affiliated with the Hell's Angels Motorcycle gang, and later confirmed to be an active member of its Newark Chapter, to be in possession of gambling records and over $7000 in suspected gambling proceeds.
Krynicki was arrested and charged with a number of crimes including Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, Gang Criminality, and Possession of Gambling Records.

He was given 4 years probation for punching a man in a bar in the head with a beer mug in a strange incident in which a policeman lied to help him avoid arrest and who himself was charged.
The North Arlington man who admitted in June to the 2012 assault of a man in a Hardyston bar was sentenced to four years probation.
SUPERIOR COURT -- The North Arlington man who admitted in June to the 2012 assault of a man in a Hardyston bar was sentenced to four years probation.
Bernard Krynicki, 26, was sentenced in state Superior Court in Newton by Judge William J. McGovern III on Friday.
He was also sentenced to 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay $205 in fines and fees.
Krynicki pleaded guilty on June 23 to third-degree aggravated assault. He admitted that on Jan. 12, 2012, while at Tony’s Bar and Pizzeria on Route 23 in Hardyston he hit a man in the head with a beer mug.
Prior to his sentencing on Friday, Krynicki and his attorney, Mark Ranges, both said Krynincki’s actions were the result of his reaction to someone yelling that the man he hit had pulled out a knife.
“He did not involve himself until after he heard ‘He’s got a knife,’ ” Ranges said.
Assistant Prosecutor Seana Pappas said no evidence of a knife was ever found, to which Ranges agreed. Ranges reiterated that his client’s reaction was to defend his friend Sean Sweeney, who was in an altercation with the victim.
“I acted out of a response to what I heard,” Krynicki said. “I did not go out looking for a problem.”
According to police reports at the time of the incident, while at the bar, Krynicki and Sweeney allegedly began an altercation with a man and woman who were also at the bar. During the fight, police alleged, Krynicki hit the man over the head with a beer mug while Sweeney grabbed the woman and attempted to punch her, according to the report.
Also charged in the incident was Fairfield police officer Anthony Girardi Jr.
According to police at the time, when police officers from the Hardyston Police Department arrived to investigate the incident, Girardi allegedly tried to prevent Krynicki and Sweeney from getting arrested.
According to prosecutors, Girardi identified himself as a police officer and provided false information regarding the assault to responding officers.
Pappas has previously said in court that Girardi had pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident, but did not provide details. Information regarding the disposition of Girardi’s case was not immediately available on Friday.
Sweeney pleaded guilty on July 7 to a disorderly persons offense of simple assault and was sentenced to pay $625 in fines.

Off-duty Fairfield cop pleads guilty to lying to police about biker gang bar brawl
Updated Mar 30, 2019; Posted May 31, 2012
By Joe Moszczynski/The Star-Ledger
fairfield.jpgFairfield policeA Fairfield police officer has been with second-degree official misconduct and third-degree hindering apprehension.
NEWTON — An off-duty veteran police officer pleaded guilty to lying to law enforcement officials who were investigating a bar brawl involving two of his friends, both known associates of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, authorities said today.
As part of a plea bargain agreement, Anthony Gerardi Jr., a 24-year veteran of the Fairfield Police Department, will resign from his job and not receive full retirement benefits, Sussex County First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller said.
Gerardi pleaded guilty to third-degree hindering apprehension for his role in the attempted cover-up of an attack on a patron who was hit in the head with a beer mug at a restaurant/bar on Route 23 in the Stockholm section of Hardyston.
“Anthony wanted to resolve the case,” said his Nutley-based attorney, Anthony Iacullo, adding his client will not be required to testify against his friends. “He didn’t want to put his family, the department or the community through a trial.”
More serious charges, including second-degree official misconduct — punishable by up to 10 years in prison — were dropped as part of the agreement.
“This (the plea deal) was primarily justified because this conduct occurred while he was off duty. He (Gerardi) also had exemplary prior public service,” said Mueller. “In this position, you try to be fair and objective with each case. This result is seen as appropriate.”
Gerardi went to the bar on Jan. 12 with Bernard Krynicki, a Hells Angels recruit, and Sean Sweeney, a club member whose girlfriend was celebrating her birthday. Later, Krynicki had words with a patron, then hit him with a beer mug from behind, prosecutors said, and Sweeney, wearing a Hells Angels cap, then tried to punch the patron’s wife.
When police arrived, the 48-year-old Gerardi identified himself as a police officer and said he didn’t know who had struck the patron. Gerardi also denied Krynicki, 45, of North Arlington and Sweeney, 42, of Hamburg had anything to do with it, authorities said.
But video surveillance that captured the melee proved otherwise, showing Gerardi sat just several feet from the attack, said Mueller.
Gerardi resigned from his job effective Wednesday, the day his guilty plea was entered before Superior Court Judge N. Peter Conforti, sitting in Newton. The prosecutor’s office will also recommend a 24-month probationary term and 200 hours of community service at the time of sentencing.
Gerardi, who is eligible for retirement in March, agreed not to seek future public employment in the state and will not to receive full retirement benefits, including the loss of medical coverage.
He was expected to receive an annual retirement pension of about $61,700, records show.
Star-Ledger staff writer Alexi Friedman contributed to this report.
