Riders from motorcycle clubs across Canada attended the Langley service for the president of the Haney chapter of the Hells Angels, Mike Hadden on Saturday, Sept. 4.
There were several different clubs from as far away as Quebec, but the majority of the attendees were Hells Angels members.
Police estimated the number of visitors at between 1,000 and 1,500, with some participating in the ride, but not the service.
Law enforcement officers also attended the event, including at least one from Quebec.
RCMP’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, (CFSEU), was also on scene, taking photos.

Held at the Christian Life Assembly Church at, 21277 56th Ave. in Langley, the noon-hour event happened to coincide with the second annual Food Truck festival held in the church parking lot.
Organizers of the festival were advising customers to delay their trip to the festival until after the service, when there would be more room in the parking lot.
Many of the visiting bikers sampled the food truck fare before going inside the church for the service.

Hadden, who passed away on Sunday, Aug. 1, at the age of 64, was a lifelong resident of Maple Ridge, and described in an obituary as a “proud member” of the Haney Hells Angels chapter.
He was also owner of Haney Hawgs, a motorcycle shop.

Hadden is survived by his wife Carrie, his sons Jesse and Aaron, three grandchildren, and his partner and friend Dawn.
Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, with CFSEU, anticipated organized crime figures would be attending the funeral.

“Hells Angels funerals typically see members of the Hells Angels, their many supporters and affiliates, as well as other individuals connected to organized crime, attend to pay their respects. We are expecting that Mr. Hadden’s funeral will be no different,” Houghton commented.
Houghton said the event was incident-free.

Hundreds of Hells Angels from across Canada arrived at a church in Langley just before noon Saturday to pay tribute to Michael “Spike” Hadden — an original B.C. member of the club who died of cancer last month.
Bikers wearing patches from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec rode in procession from Hadden’s Haney Hawgs business in Maple Ridge to the Christian Life Assembly Church on 56th Street in Langley.
Other Angel support clubs from across B.C. and Alberta also rode in the large tribute ride.
The associated clubs included the Jesters and Shadow Club from Surrey, the Unforgiven from Calgary, the Silent Grey, the Commandos, the Disciple Christians and an all-women motorcycle club.
Stationed at the church’s entrances controlling traffic were members of the Horsemen Brotherhood biker club.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, from the anti-gang Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit. estimated there were about 1,500 people who attended Hadden’s service.
“Every chapter from across Canada was represented,” Houghton said, adding that Canadian members of Hells Angels charters in Greece and the Dominican Republic also attended.
One of the Greece members at the funeral, former Lower Mainland resident Damion Ryan, was featured on a poster released by police in May warning the public about gangsters who could be targeted.
CFSEU officers, as well as anti-gang units from other Lower Mainland RCMP detachment and police forces, monitored the funeral and the reception afterwards at the Haney HA clubhouse in Pitt Meadows.
Houghton said police were present because “it’s a funeral of an individual that’s long been known to have involvement with the Hells Angels and we are there to make sure that the event stays safe and respectful.”
An obituary published Aug. 24 said that Hadden, 64, was a “proud member of the Haney Hells Angels” and is survived by his wife Carrie, sons Jesse and Aaron, and three grandchildren. Jesse is also a member of the Haney chapter.
“From Hot Rods to Harleys, his legacy was larger than life,” the obituary said.
Many of those who arrived on Harleys Saturday had no identifiable patches or markings indicating an affiliation. Most were wearing black.
Many bikers milled around outside the church both before and after as food trucks were coincidentally set up in a section of the large church parking lot across from the Langley Airport.

The Hells Angels started in B.C. in July 1983 with three original chapters — Nanaimo, White Rock and Vancouver. Since then, the bikers have expanded with 10 chapters around the province and more than 100 members, prospects and hang-arounds.
Hadden’s Haney chapter opened 1987.

A full-patch member of the Hells Angels is among 22 people who have been charged by Manitoba RCMP as part of a four-year investigation leading to what Mounties say is the biggest drug seizure they’ve been involved with.
On Tuesday, Mounties announced the results of Project Divergent, a national and international operation “focused on the importation and distribution of illicit guns and drugs."
Insp. Grant Stephen, officer in charge of federal, serious and organized crime with Manitoba RCMP, said it was the “largest drug seizure in Manitoba RCMP history.”
During the investigation, officers seized 110 kilograms of cocaine, 41.4 kilograms of methamphetamine, three kilograms of fentanyl, and half a kilogram of MDMA. Stephen said the estimated street value of all the drugs seized totalled $70 million.
Officers also seized 14 handguns, five assault-style rifles and more than $445,000 in Canadian money.
“I provide you with this context not to wow you at this seizure, but to show how many people could have been affected by this illicit product, and not only affected, but potentially killed,” he said. (Greg: Police lie. It is both. Insp. Stephen must be pumped at this outcome.)
Jane MacLatchy, assistant commissioner of the Manitoba RCMP, said the arrests made, which include one member of an outlaw biker gang, will have a significant impact.
“We’ve been able to cause a large disruption in the flow of guns and drugs in the country,” she said.
RCMP said Project Divergent started in 2018 after officers noticed trends of international drug importation in the country. During the investigation, RCMP and other police agencies said they saw large-volume transactions of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and assault-style firearms, and discovered a connection with the Hells Angels.
Damion Ryan, 41, who RCMP says is a full-patch Hells Angels member for the motorcycle gang’s Attica chapter in Greece, was arrested in Ontario in February and is facing numerous charges related to firearms and drug trafficking.
“He has tremendous reach into different networks, both in Canada and internationally,” said Stephen
Other people charged in the investigation include:
Enrico Funk, 29, from Freidensruh, Manitoba;
Artjom Gotting, 32, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Nathaniel Cabal, 31, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Trinh Ducthang Dinh, 31, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;

Jesse James Whyte, 26, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Kelvin Lee Nelson, 27, from Burnaby, BC;
Mazin Nzar Zandy, 24, from Burnaby, BC;
Andre Omar Steele, 41, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Brittany Girardeau, 28, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Albert Theodore Jansen, 39, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Sharon Jonatanson, 66, from Libau, Manitoba;
Scott Matthew Jonatanson, 27, from Libau, Manitoba;
Caitlin Jones, 22, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Owen James Quesnel, 33, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;

Brian Christopher Yakimoski, 28, from Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Jeffrey David Gaudet, 32, from Winnipeg, Manitoba; and
Dylan Durval South, 28, from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
None of the charges against any of the accused have been proven in court.
RCMP are also looking for two more suspects who have warrants out for their arrest.

A prominent B.C. Hells Angel, Damion Ryan, has been arrested in Ottawa after an investigation by the RCMP in Manitoba.
Sources confirmed that Ryan, considered a leader of the Wolf Pack gang coalition in the Lower Mainland, had been picked up by police at a luxury home in the nation’s capital.
Manitoba RCMP spokesperson Tara Seel said that she should could “confirm that there is an ongoing RCMP operation in Ottawa.”
“We have not confirmed names. There is no risk to public safety. Additional information on the investigation will be released at a later time,” Seel said in an emailed response to an inquiry specifically about Ryan’s arrest.
She confirmed that the investigation involved an Ottawa house at 88 Rossland Ave. Until last July, the house was owned by Hisham (Terry) Alkhalil, a former B.C. resident who also has connections to the Wolf Pack. He sold it for $1.5 million, property records show. Two of Alkhalil’s brothers were shot to death on the Lower Mainland. A third was gunned down in Mexico in 2018.
Search warrants in connection with the Manitoba investigation were executed in B.C., according to Postmedia sources.
Ryan is a former member of the elite Ontario Nomads chapter of the Hells Angels, which was disbanded after a dispute with other regional chapters of the biker gang.
Hells Angel Damion Ryan blurred his face when he posted this shot with unidentified Hells Angels friends in Europe on his instagram account. From 2017. PNG
He was charged with several drug trafficking counts in Ontario in the summer of 2015. The file was transferred to Vancouver, where he pleaded guilty to two trafficking counts and one of possession of stolen property in 2016. He was sentenced to three months. (Greg: Very lenient sentence.)
Ryan then transferred to a Hells Angels chapter in Greece, but has spent long stretches of time here in B.C. At some point last year, he was denied entry to Greece.
He attended the funeral in Langley in September of original B.C. Hells Angel Michael “Spike” Hadden, who died of cancer in August. (Greg: Cancer it doesn't care if you are a 1%er a tailor a nurse or mentally retarded. BC Cancer Agency
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BC_Cancer_Agency gives way more of the money % wise it raises to cancer care and research than the more famous C.C.S.
https://bccancerfoundation.com/ to donate.)
But Ryan had been lying low, mostly out of province, since he was featured in May (Greg: 2021) with 10 other Lower Mainland gangsters on warning posters issued by both the Vancouver Police and B.C.’s anti-gang Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.
The unusual police tactic came during a jump in gang violence across the region.
Ryan sent several messages to Postmedia at the time, denying he had any role in the gang conflict.
Hells Angel Damion Ryan, who was based in Greece, wore a scarf over his face at Chad Wilson’s December 2018 funeral PHOTO BY JASON PAYNE /PNG
But in reality, Ryan has been targeted for violence more than once, as have his associates in both the Wolf Pack and Hells Angels.
A young Ontario man named Knowah Ferguson was hired to kill Ryan at the food court at Vancouver airport in April 2015. At the time, Ryan was meeting with United Nations gangster Thomas Duong. The would-be hitman, dressed in a burqa, approached Ryan from behind. The gun jammed and both Ryan and the hitman fled. Ferguson, only 18 at the time, was captured and later pleaded guilty. The price on Ryan’s head was $200,000, according to evidence at Ferguson’s sentencing hearing.
In December 2010, Ryan attended a birthday party at a restaurant on Oak Street when gunmen linked to the UN gang opened fire. Ten people were shot, though none died. Ryan was hit in the leg.
Now 41, Ryan’s first B.C. conviction came in 2005 when he was sentenced to five years in connection with a violent home invasion involving a marijuana-growing operation.

An Alberta Hells Angel sentenced last year to nine years for kidnapping and beating a B.C. man was attacked by another inmate in Matsqui prison earlier this month.
.
Sources confirmed that Robert Lowry of the Edmonton chapter of the notorious biker gang was injured in the Nov. 18 attack.
Marie Messer, an assistant warden at Matsqui, said in an emailed statement that “an inmate was found to have been victim of an assault” at the medium-security federal institution.
“The injured inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment and has since returned to the institution,” the statement said. “The assailants have been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken.”
Messer did not say what those actions were.
“No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident. The Correctional Service of Canada will investigate the circumstances of this incident,” Messer said. “The safety and security of institutions, their staff and the public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.”
Later CSC regional manager Jean-Paul Lorieau told Postmedia that police were not contacted about the attack on the inmate.
Lowry is appealing both his 2020 conviction and his 2021 sentence. His appeal is scheduled to be heard in January.
In July 2021, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Ward Branch sentenced Lowry, fellow Hells Angel Neil Cantrill and Cantrill’s son Stephan after convicting all three a year earlier for kidnapping, extortion, aggravated assault and overcoming resistance for a vicious attack on Robert Houle, a former Hope man who grew cannabis for Neil Cantrill for more than a dozen years.
In December 2014, Houle travelled to Edmonton to tell his partner that he wanted out of the pot business and offered the growing equipment to the biker.
He heard nothing more until July 31, 2016, when Neil Cantrill contacted him to arrange a meeting. The next day, Houle arrived at a roadside pullout near Hope, where he was grabbed, choked and beaten, then taken to his house where the trio tried to force him to sign the property over.
RCMP officers arrived and took Houle to hospital for cuts, broken bones and a burn to his forehead.
Branch said Houle had been severely impacted by the brutal assault and was forced to enter the witness protection program.
“When Mr. Lowry was choking him, Mr. Houle thought he was going to die as he was losing consciousness as well as control of his bowels,” Branch said. “He left town fearing that his life was on the line.”
At the time of the attack, Lowry was a Hells Angel “hang around.” He later became a full-patch member of the club.
Neil Cantrill was sentenced to 10 years, while his son got six years for their roles in the 2016 kidnapping and attack.

Greedy, greedy, greedy Hell's Angels. Good reporting yet again by Kim Bolan.
Lowry was once a promising computer programmer, having developed a computer program and eventually being awarded a $970,000 grant from the federal government for software development. He and his wife raised two children, and have a close family.
In 2007, Lowry was diagnosed with concurrent mental health issues, followed by a car accident in 2009 that resulted in a brain injury. He currently suffers from anxiety, depression, insomnia, mood and sleep disorders, bi-polar disorder, anger issues, hypogonadism and syncope.
His medical issues led to his life taking a turn for the worse, the judge wrote. He became a “hang around” with the Hells Angels chapter where Neil Cantrill is a member. But the court found that when Lowry joined up with Cantrill, he didn’t intend to get involved in a violent attack. He also does not have a criminal record. But just the same, he participated, the report read.

ALERT investigators displayed results from a coordinated crackdown on a high-profile motorcycle gang, and released more details on their investigation.
On Wednesday morning, officers with ALERT, RCMP and the Edmonton Police Service executed ten search warrants in the capital region – ALERT said Friday that the warrants lead to the seizure of two handguns, 26 pounds of marijuana, and 19 vests.
The next day, ALERT said a total of six members of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang – the gang at the centre of the investigation – had been arrested and are facing organized crime charges.

ALERT investigating Hells Angels in Edmonton-area
“They’re involved in things like drug trafficking, there could be human trafficking, gun trafficking, mortgage frauds,” ALERT Insp. Darcy Strang said Friday. “Anything that makes money.”
ALERT said it’s the first time members of the gang have been charged with organized crime in Alberta.
The accused include Darcy Lee, 38, Troy Pawluk, 43, Eduardo Bartolozzi, 34, and Dustin Lowry, 35, all from Edmonton, Dominic Depalma, 33, from Strathcona County, and Roy Radies, 50, from Acheson, have all been charged.
In addition, ALERT said Friday that a seventh individual, a woman, was also charged in connection to the raids – but she wasn’t listed in the initial release, police said, because she’s not a member of the Hells Angels.
Police believe the bust has made a dent in the Hells Angels Westridge Chapter – as that clubhouse was one of the ten locations searched Wednesday.
The entire investigation was sparked after a clash in Drayton Valley in February, involving Hells Angels and a rival gang called The Warlock.
However, Insp. Strang said investigators were not allowed to search one item on that property – a white trailer – as officers didn’t have a warrant to search it.
CTV News cameras later recorded the trailer in question being towed away – Strang admitted that trailer might’ve yielded more evidence.
“I wasn’t at the scene, so I don’t know what happened in relation to the timing and such, again we had over 200 people involved in this and most everyone was busy,” Strang said.
The six men arrested as part of the investigation were expected to appear in court Friday afternoon.

A trio of full-patch Alberta Hells Angels are in jail in Greece after being arrested last week following the near-fatal beating of a Greek man.
At least nine B.C. Hells Angels also attended the international meeting, in which more than 2,000 Hells Angels from 500 chapters descended on Athens. Some of the B.C. Hells Angels stopped along the way in Paris to do some sightseeing at Notre Dame Cathedral.
The three Alberta Angels made a court appearance last Friday. The 41-year-old man they allegedly beat up is on life support.
The Canadian government is providing consular services, spokesman Francois Lasalle confirmed, without identifying the people involved.
"We are aware of reports of Canadian citizens detained in Greece. Canadian officials are in contact with the individuals and providing consular assistance as required," Lasalle said in an email to The Vancouver Sun.
"Due to the Privacy Act, further details on this case cannot be released."
