Some of the things Doug Marman got very wrong in his research and assumptions
about Paul Twitchell and the history of Eckankar.

The first one is his unyielding focus on the output of David Lane. Which extended
publicly from 1983 to around 2006. Doug has often stated that all he needed to do
about David Lane was to "prove" the weaknesses in some of Lane's conclusions and
to show that there were other "possibilities" based upon the "known facts."

What Doug did not do was to actually find "facts" that countered Lane's "facts".
And the many other "facts" and personal first hand reports of a multitude of
other people only some of whom David Lane included in his TMOASM book and
ongoing discussions, mainly here at a.r.e.

Doug was biased to a point of being blinded by his own beliefs coupled with the
personal reports that had been impressed upon him by people like Patti Simpson,
Gail Twitchell, Brad Steiger and Harold Klemp, and many more.

Doug was prone to accept such information without question and yet when hard
facts arose that countered their "beliefs and opinions" he simply ignored those
new verifiable facts.

Whilst David Lane too jumped to many lightweight assumptions based on only a
few facts and reports, and his own limited research, he then used his Occam's
Razor philosophy of "most likely that means X" to make all kinds of judgments
of what happened and why. These were not necessarily true or accurate
conclusions to draw either.

Doug showed the many shortcomings in Lane's reasoning and his conclusions about
several things, and yet what Doug never did was to provide valid reliable
documented historical evidence to prove what he assumed and concluded was true
either. Doug's conclusions very much rely upon his own flaky "reasoning" and
"thinking", much more so than on actual hard evidence aka the facts.

Neither person ever really followed sound historical research practices. Both
were very biased and more interested in their own "stories" and persona being
seen as accurate and proper than the accurate reality, or aka "the whole
truth."

For example one of David Lane's most significant failure as a researcher was
that he stopped researching the history. In particular as he was so easily
convinced early on that Twitchell was a major plagiarizer in his writings,
Lane decided well what's the point of wasting more time to further document the
extent of that. It was enough information for him and many others who agreed
with him, so he spent most of "time" arguing over and over the same stuff on
a.r.e. for years.

Everything boiled down to semantics, debates and who was the best Sophistry
expert on the day who could carry the argument and convince the most people who
were interested and engaged. Both Doug and David spent over a decade on a.r.e.
ignoring research, ignoring documented factual information and just argued about
each other "beliefs" for entertainment and self-aggrandizement.

That's my overall summary conclusions of what happened. It was a waste of
everyone's time and energy. Both camps pretty much remained committed to their
own opinions as there was nothing of real value available to shift anyone's
opinions ... bar everyone else's opinions.

By 2007/08 I had really had enough of that. I had only ever been a "hanger on"
because a.r.e. was a great way to fill in time and the overall topics covered
were of interest to me. I had falsely assumed from 1998 to 2006 when Doug finally
published his The Whole Truth book, that everyone so engaged had actually done
the basic historical research in the first place - that the reason why there was
so many gaps and all the arguing going on was because there was no such
documented evidence available to decide on way or another.

I think everyone else did to. meanwhile both "sides" would continue to massage
their weak arguments while ignoring all the flaws and logical fallacies in them.

But it was all fun and entertaining most of the time. NO one got violent and
no one was killed. So no big deal. It was the earliest days of "online social
media" and everyone was new at it and learning as they went. It was new kind of
human dynamic, and it had it's various effects upon participants along the way.

So by 2009 I decided after seeing the glaring gaps in TWT "narrative" where Doug
was making the exact same errors that I had seen when I first read Lane's TMOASM
treatise ... illogical conclusions not supported by real evidence etc ...
I decided to suspend all beliefs and opinions, and begin my own personal
historical research about Paul Twitchell - with a view to either confirm or deny
what either side had been claiming for decades was true using hard evidence and
as yet unknown personal reports by others who were there. I started mainly in
two areas, archived newspapers and the thousands of newly digital books of the
past being uploaded onto the internet around that time.

So I got to see material that was never known or seen by Lane or Marman or Ford
or even Harold Klemp. I confirmed many ideas/opinions some held to be true and
found enough evidence to totally discount as incorrect as well.

It was tedious, it was difficult, it was very interesting, and it became really
hard work because the more I researched the more data came falling into my lap.
Not everyone can possess the personal skills or attitude to do this kind of work.
Or have the time to do it like I and the few who helped me did.

The really hard work started trying to make sense of it all, remember past claims
thought be true or thought to be false, and connect the dots so to speak. It was
excruciatingly difficult and at times really intense. All I wanted to achieve was
to collate, compile, and assemble the actual hard facts (which of course includes
various things people had said (true or false) in the past that related to Paul
Twitchell and Eckankar.

I discovered a new mountain of material to be added to that already discussed
long and hard for decades from all sides, from all kinds of people and from
different paths and groups. The devil truly was in the details. No one had
seriously approached this subject matter like this before or got to a point of
knowing as much as I and Etznab knew about the big issues and the minutia.

My or our conclusions are irrelevant to anyone but ourselves, imo. The material on
the TEHA imo, speaks for itself. People have to decide for themselves what that
"means to them". Today's most significant problem about that is that so few even
care to look - pro or con. The steam has gone out of the Twitchell saga. Many have
switched off who used to interested. Others simply do not care or more often than
not are not even aware of how much controversy actually surrounded Paul his whole
life and especially in his starting of Eckankar.

In Eckankar it is of course a "no go zone" now, even more so than before. The
typical response is that nothing that could be found physically could have much of
an effect upon the "REAL TRUTH OF ECKANKAR" anyway.

iow it doesn't matter. That's their choice. So be it.

So fwiw I decided to do this simple write up of the things I can recall from
memory that Doug Marman, Eckankar's #1 Apologist for Paul Twitchell and Pseudo
Historical Expert on him and Eckankar, that he got seriously wrong. People can
make of this what they will, and all I will say is that most of the evidence
could be found on the TEHA site. One only needs to look for it and then think about
it rationally, clearly, and using their own "inner resources and guidance" and their
level of maturity and all the personal wisdom they possess.

Everyone has 'inner resources" and abilities to various degrees. Everyone has
experiences where they have some kind of psychic or spiritual insights come to them
or from other people and even from 'spirit' and from inner guides and so on.
Therefore it would be a mistake for anyone to simply conclude that what has ended
up on the TEHA was merely the results of physical world research or via the mental
realm alone. To get the most out of the TEHA material one would be well advised to
use the full extent of their own inner guidance in exploring it. Ask the right
questions and the appropriate answers will no doubt appear. One can also use their
mental acuity and inner strengths to go and check the validity of things found on
the TEHA for themselves. Ample opportunity is right there to do that.

iow no one needs to blindly accept or dismiss or believe anything there presented. It's
your own responsibility to both think for yourself and to check the validity of
everything for yourself. Who could be better placed than yourself to draw your own
conclusions and form your own beliefs than yourself? No one is!

I'll break now and come back with my list of errors and mis-takes made by Doug
Marman (and many others too) in the following post.

I'm doing this list from memory of the things that I think Doug Marman got
factually wrong in his history about Paul twitchell and Eckankar. I won't
bother with too much detail as to why which can be found on a.r.e. and
the archive easy enough.

Plugging "doug marman" into the alt.religion.eckankar search box will show
more than enough examples with factual references (ignore my humourous
hyperbole commentaries here and there), and browse through the Best Of
compilation on the Paul Twitchell Eckankar History archive.

The PAUL TWITCHELL and ECKANKAR HISTORY ARCHIVE - aka TEHA and PTHA
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-M0yAR0UPhPalFWRzl6YmlmM00

One can check Doug's 'facts', conclusions and various reports on his
websites DITAOC and Spiritual Dialogues Project, or buy his 'The Whole
Truth' (TWT) book.

As usual this is longer than I hoped, but all of it is worth knowing, imo.

1)
Doug maintains that Twitchell only 'plagiarized' >2% of his total writings
on Eckankar. That it was probably closer to only being 0.7 to 1.0 of PTs
total Eckankar writings.

Given many new finds from 2008 to 2015 the (at times verbatim) plagiarism
so far discovered in Twitchell's writings suggests Plagiarism could be as
high as 90%. When the plagiarism is located it usually amounts to whole
pages in length at times up to entire chapters.

2)
After Doug was provided with clear evidence of large amounts of plagiarism
examples he had never known about (or had admitted to knowing about) he then
claimed "it still doesn't matter" and refused to adjust his views or
opinion. Nor has he added this new information to his website so others
knew of it too.

3)
Doug repeatedly claims that the plagiarism only occurred in a few books.
That's wrong because verbatim plagiarism is present in every book and the
discourses of Eckankar written by Twitchell.

4)
Doug did say that SBTR shouldn't be taken literally as if it really
happened as described but as a 'creative setting'. That he knew of no
plagiarism in SBTR or DWTM and that these two books show how RT
communicated with Paul, teaching him directly via the inner 'as if'
dictating to him. I think that's an accurate way to show how Doug
explained it.

A large portion of RT speaking in the SBTR has been taken almost verbatim
from RS Mat Prakash (Radhasoami Agra, Sant Mat) the first RS english book
written way back in 1896.
See: Stranger by the River Plagiarism v RS Mat Prakash Part One
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPbzlrQzZvU1BOZGs

Compare pages 129 and 130 of Paul Twitchell's STRANGER BY THE
RIVER (1970) with page 67 of Kirpal Singh's MAN! KNOW THYSELF (first
published in 1954) in THE WAY OF THE SAINTS. David Lane.
'1996 Plagiarism SBTR v Kirpal Singh - Eck Vidya TTF v Julian Johnson'
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPUElxQTJhVmNodFk/view?usp=sharing

Doug Marman said that there was no known plagiarism in the SBTR book. He
was wrong. He never really looked for it. Doug never did much active
research. Most of the time he was passing on ideas, reports on plagiarism,
and information passed on to him by others.

Most of Dougs time on a.r.e. was in discussions about people's 'thinking'
or their 'beliefs' or their percieived 'biases' or their 'assumtptions,
and their 'cherry picking' items, and hypotheticals missvies about changing
times in how people think about 'plagairism' and then arguments about
arguments about known and unknown 'facts' and very little about the
documented historical evidence.

5)
About one third of RT and other 'eck masters' dictating in the DWTM book
is directly from Charles Haanel's 'The Master Key System' (Course 1912;
Published 1919)

In DWTM Chp 5 Twitchell has RT 'dictating' to PT from the 1956-07 The
Ananai Magazine (Japan) article, 'THE SCIENCE OF MORALITY' written by
Paul Twitchell as a (Kirpal Singh) Ruhani Satsang Initiate. A clear
example of PT re-writing his (Ruhani) writings 15yrs later, following
the same text and FORM when he copied, redacted, re-wrote, and
re-presented the writings of others and himself as coming from (RT)
Rebazar tarzs and other 'eck masters.'.

It was these kinds of texts that explained Eckankar philosophy and were
the same basis for Twitchell's discourses. Many times passages from eck
books are found in various discourses verbatim or close.

DWTM is almost all plagiarised material, with over a third of it already
documented coming from 18 authors. See the file ''Dialogues with the
Master' Plagiarism by Paul Twitchell"
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPdzhFU2JFalJoaEU

6)

“Why did he dramatize in his books? That's the question. I think he did
it for the same reason all the other authors I referred to above did it.
Because art and creativity are often the best voice for spiritual
communication. But I really don't know.”
Doug.
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt.religion.eckankar/OhxqwMqKQAI/lAlk2GX762QJ

Exactly, Doug says he doesn't know. When Doug goes on 'not knowing' he
ignores things like this on the DWTM book cover.

"The contents of this book was the first real study of the works of
ECKANKAR which I did a number of years ago. It is the record of the
spoken words of Rebazar Tarzs, the great Tibetan ECK Master, who was
training me for the future position of the next Mahanta, the Living
ECK Master in this world."

It's a fact that the majority of "the spoken words of Rebazar Tarzs" are
in fact verbatim plagiarism the whole way through, lifted whole in sections
in the same order as they were written in the source books.

"There is only one thing in the world, Imagination, and all man's
deformations of it.” said Neville in Awakened Imagination 1954 p.19

"There is only one thing in the world, imagination and all man's
deformations of it.” said Rebazar Tarzs in The Far Country (1964) 1970 p.221

The facts show that there is not one book with RT and Eck masters speaking
that doesn't show up as being plagiarised and copied from another book and
religion/group. But the 'teachings' say that Twitchell was shown and
dictated to him by the Eck masters such RT, GD, FQ, YS, Rami Nuri, Shams
Tabriz, Rumi, and so on.

It is not merely a similarity in belief or philosophy, but a verbatim
plagiarism copied in the extact same form, bar a few name or word changes
here and there, out of other books spoken of and acknowldeged as read by
Twitchell or typed up extracts of them found in Twitchell's archive held by
Harold Klemp and nevr made public or to 'researchers.' How can this be so?

Twitchell took those texts and blended them all together as the 'teachings
of Eckankar'. He used his writing expereince of doing that same thing in his
'pulp fiction' writing days - taking existing texts and blending them into
a new story with different character names but it's the same general plot.

The source material was "FITTED OUT FOR ECKANKAR" by making it come out of
the mouths of the "Eck masters" story line in the writings by Twitchell
where he was the central character and new world leader of this esteemed
'spiritual hierarchy'. This devleoped over time from 1963 when Paul first
coined 'Eckankar' as a distinct idea until 1966. Paul wasn't presented as
the 'master' at that time.

Then he changed his philosophy and redacted names and his writings to fit
the ideal of the 'Tidetan god-eaters vairagi masters' hierarchy and it's
'history'. Paul first introduced RT in late 1964 in his God Eater's article

PT: "...only when Rebazar Tarzu took charge that many changes came about."
from 1964-11 Psychic Observer Mag - The God-Eaters [PTHA Doc Rebazar Tarzu,
Yaubl Socabi, Kirpal Singh, Tigers Fang]

THis is the first time PT ever wrote about Rebazar Tarzs/Tarzu or Yaubl
Sacabi/Socobi, but he didn't use the term "vairagi eck masters'

He says in 1964-11 Psychic Observer Mag - The God-Eaters

PT: "Master Kirpal Singh spoke briefly of these masters when he took me
through theseveral invisible worlds, in 1957. The story of this trip has
been recorded in my book The Tiger’s Fang."

Now, that’s MASTERS not *matters* (Doug copied that wrong several times for
years) - AND that's KIRPAL SINGH not RT taking Paul through the 'invisible
worlds' in the TTF book and not RT.

PT: "Although I had been travelling in these invisible worlds for years it
was only when Rebazar Tarzu took charge that many changes came about.
He broke the barriers of the spiritual worlds and took me to strange lands I
never believed possible. ... he accompanied me for the first time (circa
summer mid-1964 in San Diego or earlier) to this fantastic spiritual city
which looks something like the Land of Oz."

THEREFORE REBAZAR TARZS, according to Paul, only 'took charge' in mid-1964
taking him on these major 'inner travels.'

This is AFTER these books were written:

- Dialogues with the Master DWTM 1956-57; Revised & Edited 1970

- The Tiger's Fang TTF 1957; Copy for Kirpal 1963; Revised & Edited 1967

- The Flute of God TFOG 1959; Orion Mag (changes) 1966-68; Revised & Edited 1969

- LTG 1 Dec 1962-May 1963; Revised & Edited 1973

- LTG 2 May 1963-July 1963; Revised & Edited 1977

- The Far Country Jan-May 1964; Revised & Edited 1971

and this 'reconnection' with RT from 1951ish and meeting the 'god-eaters' with RT
ocurred after PT took Gail for a Ruhani Initiation with Kirpal Singh in Dec 1963.

AND

PT: "Frater X writes of a similar group called the Green Robe monks in South America."

Frater X was in fact L Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology

Doug asks: "Why did he dramatize in his books?"

That he did 'dramatize' aka 'FICTIONALIZE' is far more important to know. Most
people do not know that yet nor the extent of it. And 'dramatize' or
'fictionalize' or 'spin' his real life as well through his artciles and the
IMSIAF book especially.

In 1968 and 1969 Paul suddenly introduced the new terms: Eck master, the living
Eck master, and in January 1969 'the Mahanta' title. No one had heard of this
before, and Paul had never mentioned this before. Twitchell's 'Eckankar'
philosophy and the 'eck masters' story and his 'history' kept on changing from
1963 up to 1970 as shown in last books and the SKS books especially.

For example the broader 'story' in the DWTM book of how Twitchell was taught
"eckankar" is not true. That never happened like that with Rebazar Tarzs. The
facts just do not add up.

The 'story' outlined in The Tiger's Fang book is not true either. That never
happened like that with Rebazar tarzs, the other eck masters, lord's of the
planes speaking .. it too was plagiarised content being put into the mouths of
others PT created in that story. The facts don;t add up.

The broader 'story' presented in The Far Country, and the various articles
speaking about Paul's early contacts with RT are not true. The facts just
don't add up.

The 'stories' presented in IMSIAF also do not add up with the facts. All
Twitchell's stories have been dramatized, fictionalized and mythologized.

The articles and the various stories in such booklets as TKTE don't add up
with the facts either. Twitchell was massaging his 'stories' all the time,
developing them (some would say embellishing them) with more and more
detail over time.

Eventually PT had created an Eckankar cosmology that went all the way back
to the beginnijng of time with his own creation story and history of humanity
as 'spiritual beings' on earth.

These 'story lines' were all done in writing in PTs books and lectures. The
majority of the text in all these books was plagiarised materials copied from
books Twitchell had read.

Now Rebazar Tarzs and Fubbi Quantz may well be true and real 'beings' who
had 'spoken to Paul Twitchell', however they didn't say what PT said they
said to him. he all that from the books and not directly as DICTATION from
ascended Eck masters in contemplations or lucid dreams or his imagination.

7)
There is a set pattern (modus operandi) to Twitchell's writing as he takes
whole sections in order from other people's books. Doug marman ignores this
obvious pattern to how Twitchell wrote his books - by copying from others.

Of course one could still attribute inner guidance to why Twitchell chose
'x' from the source books and not other bits. One can still believe
Twitchell 'saw the inner shariyat books' at the Golden Wisdom temples, and
then also recognised these sections of written material that he transcribed
almost verbatim with minor changes into his Eckankar books and discourses.

Or assume that when Twitchell read all these books across decades, that he
noticed particular writings as 'ringing with the Eck', or was 'led to them
by RT' and intuition or whatever.

But none of that can explain the verbatim copying and that it is done in
the very same order in Twitchell's books as it was in the source books. For
example, Twitchell takes several chapters in a source book, and then
re-writes that into his own book following the same order one section
after another in blocks.

One or two source authors seem to make up the bulk of his books with
several other authors adding in parts all through or in a chapter or short
sections here and there. Twitchell more favoured authors appear in several
of his books. Sometimes he uses the same source text and then places that
into different 'eck masters' speaking and as himself in different books.

What is also a known fact that gets ingored all the time by Doug Marman is
that Twitchell had boxes full of texts bound in manila folders that was typed
up 'VERBATIM EXTRACTS' from a large number of the Library Books that he had
read over the decades.

This large collection of 'copied texts' is noted in multiple reports from
the 1950s into the 1980s. People who assume that Twitchell had a 'photographic
memory' (in fact the opposite, he often made mistakes and had a bad memory
for the details) are only guessing because they did not know he had so much
material already prepared in boxes of manila folders. People like Doug who
say they have seen it have all seaid there was too much so they had not seen
all of what was in Twitchell's archive.

Plus Twitchell had his own collection of pre-assembled 'draft manuscripts'
many more than what was published as Eckankar books.

Knowing all this personally Doug Marman persisted for 25 years to insist
that the content 'known to be plariarised by Twitchell' was only a very tiny
2% at most. Such a belief defies the known facts and a lack of evidence by
ignoring it.

Doug Marman, like most everyone else, had no idea Paul referred to himself as
'the Messiah' in his promos and books .... Doug thought this in the 2000s
after 25 years supposedly focused on PTs life and starting of Eckankar.

From: 1968-1971 The New Age Messiah In Our Midst and Plagiarism

That is, all Twitchell's books were written this way. He fed text in from several books at a
time, and then changed to another set of sources books for the next few chapters.
When plagiarism has been found it dominates the entire text for pages on end. It's fair to
assume that when 20 pages show up and there's no known plagiarism there, that there's
going to be at least one or two sources for it.... even if it's not known right away.

It's clear 'plagiarism dominates' the entire collection of books from beginning to end.
This plagiarism approach to writing and compiling related material becomes a rewriting of
the source content to varying degrees. The extent of the pattern for how much is found in
whole chapters naturally also exists (persists) throughout and across all Twitchell's Eckankar
writings.

That's his style, his MO. Paul would take some passages or whole chapters of text and type
them up on his typewriter for his “manuscript folders”. Later he would “combine and edit
these pages” into a new manuscript. Slightly rewritten and then said by an Eck master or
himself.

Much of the discourses are copied in the same way, the text reordered slightly from the books
or manuscripts. Or Vice-Versa.. But almost all of it is borrowed from some other text. His
monthly letters to chelas was often plagiarized from some text and reframed into 'eckankar'.

Just sayin' .. not complain'. That's what happened basically. An educated guess is more than
90% of Eckankar writings were done in this way.

"One of these days, those folders will make me a lot of money." (sic)

[TEHA 2015] Background Philosophy of 69 Known Authors Plagiarized by Paul Twitchell

There are 69 authors that Twitchell has plagiarized verbatim from that we know of
so far. It's not merely copying 'ideas' or 'words' but the whole content as it is,
word for word. Only basic changes are made such as words/names changed into Eck
terms.

So several years of intense research as the TEHA archive was compiled, the Eckankar
teachings and writings are a compilation mainly drawn from the following religious
philosophies:

New Thought
Metaphysics
Christian Science
Theosophy (Great White Brotherhood & Ascended masters)
Various OOBE, inner astral travel proponents
Scientology (OOBE)
Radha Soami and especially Ruhani Satsang
Kriya Yoga
Hindu Bhakti
Advaita Vedanta
Sufi Islam and
Buddhist teachings

LOOK HOW LITTLE KNOWN THE FACTS ARE ...

The coming new president of Eckankar in 2016 was the guest speaker at the
2013 ECKANKAR Connecticut Regional Seminar July 12, 13, & 14, 2013

In the FRONT PAGE of the promotional brochure they included this quote:
Change Your Consciousness, Change Your Life

“It is possible for anyone to change the trend of his
life, not by hearing or reading truth, but by making it
an active part of his consciousness in daily experience,
until it becomes a habit every moment of the day,
instead of an occasional thought. Let God operate in
the consciousness morning, noon, and night until the
actual awareness comes gradually.”
(spoken by Rebazar Tarzs)

The Key to ECKANKAR by Sri Paul Twitchell, p. 42 (1968)
Guest Speaker: Susan Miller, RESA of Minnesota

That quote was originally written by Joel Goldsmith in 1956:

"It is possible for anyone to change the trend of his life, not by hearing
or reading truth, but by making it an active part of his consciousness in
daily experience, until it becomes a habit every moment of the day, instead
of an occasional thought. Let these principles operate in the consciousness
morning, noon, and night, until gradually the actual awareness comes."

you will eventually find (if you look) that it comes from someone else

If Rebazar Tarzs was there and as real as Twitchell described him, and with
him dictating "eck truths" and going on 'inner travels' then RT would have
had at least had something to say to Twitchell directly and had it recorded
in at least one of his books.

Yet there are no 'real dialogues' between Rebazar Tarzs and Twitchell to be had.
There were no real dialogues between Twitchell and Kirpal Singh either in the
1950s though Twitchell claimed to other RS initiates Kirpal was "appearing" in
PTs apartment and dictating a series of lectures to him.

Twitchell had created several "Literary Pegs" iow, these characters were used
to speak the writings and ideas of others. eg VAIRAGYA by Dr. Julian Johnson
- becomes Vairagi by Twitchell

"VAIRAGYA is the next important step in mental preparation for the Path,...
This means the mental detachment of oneself from the external world. This is
real vairagya. It does not in any way teach or imply that one should physically
detach himself from the world. He need not leave his family or society, his
public or private duties. The Masters never teach that sort of vairagya....
Detachment, as taught by the Masters, does not imply austerities."

MORE ON PLAGIARISM SOURCES

Doug Marman never did any real research or collected all the relevant
information known about Twitchell and the early Eckankar days. Doug would
usually come at things independent of the rest of the story and Eckankar as it
was.

See : [TEHA 2014] PLAGIARISM by Paul Twitchell LISTED by Author Book Movement

Incomplete breakdown of various plagiarism examples by book, by author.
Does not include all known 'plagiarism' but examples of it.

Doug Marman never properly addresses the number of known authors used
by Twitchell to fill the content of his major books. Let's look at a few.
Doug Marman never acknowledges the amount of plagiarism involved. He never
really looked at it all properly, side by side book by book page after page
chapter after chapter.

In 1967, The Tiger's Fang 'story' includes much plagiarism from:

Julian Johnson
Talbot Mundy
Walter Russell
Ali Nomad (alias of Dr. Alexander J. McIvor-Tyndall)
Thomas Merton
Kirpal Singh
Shiv Dayal Singh
Robert Graves and
Christmas Humphreys or EA Burtt

The Key to Eckankar, 1968 ( 48 pages ) is almost totally plagiarized materials
despite most of that book being RT talking to Twitchell.

Neville Goddard (NTM)
Talbot Mundy (Novelist/Occult)
L. Ron Hubbard (NTM/Occult)
Joel S. Goldsmith (NTM)
WT Stace (Philosophy of Mysticism)
Seng Ts’an (Buddhist)
Christmas Humphreys (Buddhist)
EA Burtt' (Buddhist)

1969, Eckankar: Key to Secret Worlds,
is almost a reflection of the essentials found in The Path
of the Masters by Julian Johnson. Other parts are from Kirpal
Singh's Ruhani writings and also from the 'Sar Bachan' by
Shiv Dayal Singh. A book PT referred to as "his bible" in the
early 1960s where the text shows up in several Eckankar books.

Here's what Paul Twitchell says about
the apparent similarities between
Eckankar's inner plane cosmology and of
the Hindu's Advaita Vedanta & Theosophy's:

"What the Theosophical Society calls
their planes or what we know of them
through the Vedanta group never
particularly bothered me, for they are
the same and we are not troubled
with making comparisons. All we wish to
do is to keep straight in our mind those
various planes and the governments on
each. I have used the names given by the
Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad which is the Holy
Book of the Eck masters of the ancient
Vairagis order."

Doug Marman never address the WHOLE OF THE HISTORY involving Twitchell. He never
made lists like the above. He never laid out the basic facts or the evidence
piece by piece. He was always 'massaging' the story and the meaning of individual
pieces of evidence, but never looking at those in the broader context that
includes all the known information .... as opposed to ignoring it or forgetting
all about it.

Not every instance or author has been found. It is unlikely that
all PTs text sources could ever be known. But it is clear that
'plagiarism' is the NORM and NOT the EXCEPTION for Twitchell and is
present in all Twitchell's books and articles and included in some of
his monthly letters as well.

Doug Marman always took a position to minimise the extent of known plagiarisms,
would argue what was and wasn't "verbatim enough" to be considered plagiarism
or just close, and he never really did his own research. Doug would be discount
the importance and extent of most examples. The fact is in the 1980s to the
2000s very few people had access to copies of these kinds of books.

The Path of the Masters was a classic case of finding a source that Twitchell
used repeatedly across several books.

Most plagiarism had previously been found by Prof Sutphin, then David Lane,
and by several others who fed that information to Lane (including Dr Bluth a
President for Eckankar for many years and a long time high level initiator of
High Initiates such as Patti Simpson and Darwin Gross.) Most cases of
plagiarism were found by coincidence as people were reading books. Few did any
in depth searches or paid much attention to the list of authors recommended by
Paul Twitchell and various mentions of people in his texts. By the mid to late
2000s many books had been digitized and uploaded to the internet. Now it was
possible to do key word and phases searches. Today there would be even more
old books now online that were sources for Twitchell's writings to be
discovered.

But there comes a point where enough is enough and the pattern is clear and
obvious how Paul Twitchell wrote his books. He blended texts from all over and
placed them in a context of "eckankar and the eck masters" which included how
he claimed he was taught.

One could still believe and accept that Twitchell was 'guided by RT and eck
masters' and agree the majority of his writings are plagiarized (in the normal
sense) almost word for word from over 100 books. That PT was 'influenced' or
even 'told' to include those parts of the source writings to be a part of the
eck teachings.

But one would also probably conclude, based on the evidence now, that it's not
literally true when Paul was claiming that RT or another eck master was
'speaking or dictating' to him as written - because that material keeps coming
up as being plagiarized too, often verbatim copying, from other authors.

PT writes that Fubbi Quantz 'dictated' both Shariyat books to him. That doesn't
seem to be accurate either. Rebazar Tarzs didn't give those talks in the SBTR
stories. Rebazar tarzs didn't turn up nightly and 'dictate' material for Paul
to write. RT didn;t say all those things to Paul in TKTE booklet, most of it is
plagiarized in huge chunks from mostly 8 authors in the same "field" as Paul's
Eckankar was.

That's no coincidence. People finding it in the 1960s would have been rare
indeed, an uncommon coincidence. It's not as difficult now to find out about
the plagiarisms or find more examples of it new, than it was in the 1980s and
1990s.

The main mistake made is not realizing that:

... 'An absence of evidence does not mean it's evidence of absence.'

Those who believe that a 'thought experiment' (sophistry argument by several
Eckists going back to the 1990s) a 'gross calculation' only 2% of plagiarism
had been found in Twitchell's writings have not looked at the plagiarism that
has been documented themselves in full.

An interesting report by Doug Marman, made in 2009
It's about DWTM & Twitchell's personal chela/master “letters” to Kirpal Singh

“By the way, in my notes that I recently ran across, I also found that I had
seen a letter that Paul had written in 1956. It appears to be in the format
of Dialogues with the Master and it did refer to Kirpal, but it was
never included in the book. It was an inner study of Buddhism. So, this is
at least one example of notes he had that originally referred to Kirpal
that he left out, when he published the book years later.”

"This is a time for Truth, the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth. This is no time for

half truths,

for bewilderment and lack of understanding, for these are the soil in which helpless grief grows. In

truth alone is

there comfort and understanding and courage. That is why, because I understand so well, I am giving you

Truth.

"Apart from Truth being spoken to others, Truth is an absolute need in our lives. We must see Truth and

Truth and think Truth, always. If we refuse to see Truth, or pretend we cannot tell what is true and

what is not;

if we distort Truth or seek to mix it with untruth; if we, in fact, like to deceive both ourselves and

others if the

truth does not present an attractive aspect to us, then chaos will reign in our lives."

The experience described in each of the nine books came to me while I was awake and conscious, so all I

can do is to

call it a “waking dream”.

It occupied about three to five minutes in each case, so that all that is described in the nine books,

while seeming at the

time to cover a vast period, actually occupied no more than thirty to forty minutes. Immediately I had

had the

experience I was filled with such joy that I could hardly wait to get it all down, writing on and on at

top speed for hours

each day, despite the fact that I was ill and in much pain. [...]

I do not know, with my conscious mind and in my everyday life, any of the people who are mentioned in

these books.

As for the date—it was, as far as I can remember, about 1943. – Bernard

Doug Marman agrees and further accuses Kirpal Singh of things he never did in TWT.

Doug Marman

Feb 21 2010

"As for what David did, I'll put it this way: If I had come out and

openly critcized and attacked a person's reputation and then found out

I was even partially wrong, never mind so far off from the truth as he

was, I would have felt horrible and would openly have apologized and

made a public statement to correct my mistake."

"And if I had caused some people to leave their faith on what turned

out, even partially, to be inaccurate information or misleading, I

would have been humbled and would also have publicly done what I could

to make up for such an egregious error."

And yet Doug Marman himself made several false accusations against Kirpal Singh
that were never true. He never corrected the record nor did he admit fault.

Doug Marman has simply ignored what he got wrong in TWT for many years now.
What's 'funny' is that Doug is guilty of all the 'bad things' he accused David
Lane of doing 'against Twitchell and Eckankar.'

The DOB Twitchell's Date of Birth Vagaries ... very much got bogged down in
circular arguments without all the known facts ... David Lane's evidence was
scattered and conflicting. He made some assumptions he shouldn't have. But
so did Doug Marman. He practically ignored all the times Twitchell was
definitely responsible for giving incorrect info out for his DOB etc in
official reports about himself.

Doug Marman settles on PTs DOB as being '22nd Oct 1909' while making all kinds
of errors along the way and doing no research of his own. No one really had
all the information needed for some time and various sources suggested
different dates. Except for showing how David made a few mistakes in his
arguments and conclusions, Doug never looks too deeply in finding the
information himself. David based his conclusions on what he had back in the
late 1970s and first published widely in April 1983. And no one has ever seen
a proper Birth certificate or a proper Record of one for Paul Twitchell or
for his three older siblings. Doug said it doesn't matter. Yet Twitchell did
not give out accurate information about himself over a long period of time.

Twitchell used multiple Social Security numbers and bank account IDs apparently.
The SSN on his 1971 Death Certificate doesn't exist in the records for Kentucky
or anywhere else. Twitchell used a number of 'ghost names' as an author. Having
multiple identities served to spread his income and avoid paying income taxes
as a writer. There are multiple times where Twitchell gives a wrong DOB or
indicates he was much younger than he really was.

I think the evidence tells us the following:

PT himself believed his DOB was 22nd Oct 1908

It was all quite confusing for the family, so even Twitchell had that wrong.

Twitchell used that date several times including with the Copyright Office for
his Eckankar writings. There is no other written works by Twitchell registered
his writings or books for Copyright except for his Eckankar writings.

One reason for this is that maybe his 'pulp fiction' writings had the copyright
automatically transferred to the publisher. I'm not sure, no records exists for
any of his 'prolific writing' from 1937 to 1956. At a time he was said to have
written and published several 'novels' and many detective or western short stories.

PTs actual name was Jacob Paul Twitchell - DOB was 23rd October 1909.

Shortly before the earthquake that shook Paducah at 1:15am on the 23rd a Saturday.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPaEY4VWRsYzgydmM

The earliest known record of this is from a 1929 Genealogy of the Twitchell family.
1909-10-23 Genealogy (Jacob) Paul born 23rd - Parents Jacob Twitchell & Effie Troutman
This is very reliable respected collection of DOB family information.

1929 GTF book published (Jacob) Paul born 23rd Oct 1909
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPdG9CanNaWm5LRUU

In all the old records no where is Paul's second name 'John'. If mentioned it is
either put as a J. or Jacob. Family records for Paul's DOB vary between the 22 or
23rd, and between 1908, 1909 and 1911.

I think the 1910 Census records were released publicly in or about 1990. Dean
McMakin, an eckist from Paducah KY. at the time, researched this and Paducah
street / telephone directories and the local library to create the first known
summary of Twitchell's family Bio. Dean published this in 1992, shared it, sent
copies to Eckankar and the local Library at Paducah. IN 1996 he published it
online and was shared around by some.

The Census confirms that Paul was born in October 1909 to Effie Twitchell, her
4th child. It's hardly something one would need to lie about on a census form,
or could lie about it in such a small community there.

[PTHA 1992] JACOB Paul Twitchell Ancestry & Biography Compilation by Dean McMakin
"Jacob Paul Twitchell was born in Paducah, Kentucky on 22 October 1909, the fourth
and youngest child of Jacob Noah and Effie Dorothy (Troutru.an) Twitchell. The
Twitchell genealogy gives his birthday as 23 October 1909, but Paul consistent-
ly gave his birthday as 22 October.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPRTdoR3BtaFR1bE0/view?usp=sharing

This Biography is republished by Ford Johnson on his websites after he published
'Confessions' in 2003. Doug Marman never knew anything about this, or the
information in it until presented by Ford a decade after it was compiled.

From 1983 when TMOASM first came out and Doug Marman became interested what Lane
was saying until 2006 when his manuscript was ready for printing did he ever
contact or go to Paducah Library, to Paducah and old College's Paul attended until
late 2006.

When Doug did this he had to revise his TWT book and added in the 'new' but old
information he had only just found. This was probably Doug's best effort at
actively doing original research into Twitchell. I don't think anybody has really
done a proper and professional job of documenting Twitchell's biography or timeline
based on verifiable known evidence and facts.

The thing is Paul's birthday was traditionally celebrated on the evening of the
22nd and so that date stuck. While he and others became mixed up on which year.
It seems no one had their DOBs registered however there is a chance their records
were lost in the 1930s in a fire or because of the giant 1937 flood in Paducah
( I can't recall exactly now )

His ex-wife Cammile remembered it as 22nd Oct 1908 but knew he was born on the
23rd after midnight too. And that Rupert the first born is acknowledged in later
Census shows all this core information is consistent with the 1929 Genealogy data.

Paul's listing in the Who's Who of Kentucky of 1936 put his DOB as 22nd Oct 1908.
Same as that used for the Copyright Office - which btw has been changed in some
records to be 1909 now. It's hard to track and keep up to date, it's easy enough
to check those Author records nowadays.

In 1941 with PT out of state in NYC with his new 'literary friends' - for example
Walter Winchell who had been in the Naval Reserve as a Captain for some time.
This is what Twitchell was trying to do before the War started. He needed a
Birth Certificate for his Navy application as a Commissioned Officer in the Naval
Reserve, just like Walt Winchell.

So Paul asked his father to get a Birth Certificate for him. But 'Jake' made a
mistake with the year. It was issued as :

Name: Jacob P Twitchell

Date of Birth:22 Oct 1912

County:McCracken

Mother's Name: Eilie Twitchell (Effie)

Volume Number:110

Certificate Number:54564

Volume Year:1941
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPcnlINXVsM29kWTg

It was noted in the research this DOB certificate was obtained in May 1941 by
Jacob Noah Twitchell listed as Father - Timekeeper – and that this Certificate did
NOT relate to any actual Birth Registered in McCracken County – It was made up by
the Clerk on Jake Twitchell's verbal request in May 1941.

There are NO RECORDS for Birth Registrations nor Birth Certificates issued for Paul
Twitchell's siblings either - Ruppert, Clyde Howard or Julia Katherine.

It seems safe to conclude that any Birth Registration information was destroyed or
lost. Records do say that some information from McCracken County Ky was 'lost'.
eg 'Research shows that Paducah City Hall Built 1909 had a 3rd Floor added in 1930
after fire.'

This Birth Cert. confirms Paul's other name was Jacob (not John) and was the same
as his father.

USNR TWITCHELL, Paul (n) Service Number: xxx xx xx (on file)
Enlisted: Louisville, Ky. 1942-02-02

1942-04 NCO Promotion: Chief Specialist (A) AA
(aka Chief Petty Officer. Senior enlisted rank above Sgt. eg an Army Warrant Officer)

1942-07 USNR Twitchell, Paul is transferred to the Construction Battalion,
US Naval Construction Training Center, Camp Endicott, Davisville, Rhode Island.

There's a Record of Marriage 1942-08-12 for Paul Twitchell (1912-10-22) to
Camille Ballowe (1908-07-21) in Providence RI. (makes him 4 years younger than
Camille) This is clearly based on the 1941 Birth Certificate. When Paul and Camille
divorced in court in 1960 it was the same in the documents. It would safe to
conclude the 1912-10-22 DOB was used throughout PT's time in the Navy and afterward.

And it is clearly not the correct date, it's wrong. Provided by Paul Twitchell
himself. And yet Doug maintains that Paul never lied about his own age?

By 17th January 1964 Paul marries Gail using a 1922-10-22 DOB - making Paul 41
years old instead of 54. It's not the correct date, it's wrong. So again no one
other than Paul can sign off on his Marriage registration but him personally. Here
Paul is 'lying' about his DOB in official records.

It doesn't really matter 'why, because Paul is making it up and he knows that.
Until circa 1941 Twitchell had lived his life as if he was born in 1908.

From 1941 until 1960 he lived his life as if he was born in 1912. Then from circa
1961 or before Twitchell lived his life as if he was born in 1922. It's likely
that Twitchell worked with all three IDs (or more) especially in regard to any
income from his writing. Such a setup was suggested at to avoid paying tax on it
by Harold in a 1984 talk about Twitchell after he had seen various things in the
PT Archive that Gail Twitchell sold to Eckankar. iow, it all fits.

It wouldn't be too hard for a printer type chap to change the 1912 into a 1922 copy.
The July 1963 SP-I article mentions Twitchell having just made 40 years old, which
equates with the 1922 date. He started at the SP-I in 1961 so he would have used
that 1922 DOB and SSN ID for his job there.

It's hard to know for sure exactly when or what he did regarding his different IDs.
But I suspect that there would be enough items in his personal effects archive held
by Harold Klemp and Eckankar. Maybe we will never know what that personal archive
contains. I think it could fill in some of the gaps in Paul's biography.

It was Ford Johnson who found a copy of Paul and Gail's Marriage certificate made
in 1992. Now this is the same year that Dean McMakin wrote up his Biography on
Paul Twitchell so I think he found it and passed it on to Ford when he went public
with his break from Eckankar.

The main point here being that it wasn't Doug Marman who found anything until his
visit to Paducah in 2006. It wasn't Eckankar who had properly researched Paul's
past and then published information about that for the membership. Everything about
Paul's past has been framed inside the idea of Twitchell being taught personally
by the 'eck masters' and especially Rebazar Tarzs ... that they dictated the
doctrines and knowledge of Eckankar to Paul or showed it to him via 'soul travel'
experiences (and he recorded that.)

The facts now show that Twitchell used multiple identities with different DOBs. His
name shifted from Paul Twitchell, to J. Paul, to Jacob P. Twitchell as well. Born
in 1908, 1912 or 1922.

The facts also show that the majority of Twitchell's writings contain extensive
plagiarizing by him of other authors and so that means it's impossible that RT or the
'eck masters' were 'dictating' the teachings to him when he is taking it verbatim
from various written sources.

The question is I suppose is how was this relationship Paul said he had with RT?
How were they really interacting if all this detailed dictation giving wasn't
happening like that? If these descriptions of the inner planes was being taken
from another book then what was RT or others saying to PT and how were they
guiding him?

Doug Marman has suggested that what PT was showing us in his books is how he was
taught and shown by his 'master RT' and Sudar Singh before him. But was it real?
Or simply another 'dramatization.' Makes one wonder how many Eckists since the
1960s have had eck masters come and dictate things to them in full consciousness
or in the dream state and still be able to write down all that was said.

Of course on some occasions examples arise of these kinds of things happening or
at least reports being given they happened. One could also ask why on earth would
someone born in 1909 be using a 1922 DOB in his 'everyday life?'

By 1970 Paul is presenting himself in public as 'being/looking in his late 30s'.
It just doesn't make any sense, now does it?

Old knowledge never catches up to Doug Marman by 2006. He ignores Sutphin and many
others. He ignores Steiger's stories changing several times. That he had tapes of
Paul and then years later he never had any tapes. Sutphin had been an Eckist for a
time, and one thing led to another and he discovered quite a lot of the early
plagiarism examples. Being a Uni professor helped in that.

Doug ignores the historical facts regarding PT still owning IWP publishers, his unpublished
intellectual property, manuscripts, and copyrights

Transfer to Eckankar of IWP (publishing business) in 1977
Transfer to Eckankar of PT Discourse's Copyrights in 1979
and Transfer to Eckankar of ALL PT Copyrights in 1982

1977-1979-1982 Copyrights SOLD Twitchell Works IWP Discourses to Eckankar by Gail Twitchell
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M0yAR0UPhPMnVGMVlqem5wTDQ/view?usp=sharing

It is also clear from this information that at all times Paul Twitchell retained full personal
ownership of both IWP and his Copyrights until death, and that all of those were transferred
to Gail Twitchell personally as his next of kin, and not to the Eckankar Corporation.

That it is clear that Paul Twitchell did not transfer any ownership nor control for any of his
writings or copyrights to the Eckankar Board running “Eckankar” before or after it became a
*not for profit* Corporation circa January 1969 in Nevada or later in May 1970 in California.

See File:1970-05-21 ECKANKAR CA NV Changed to Non-Profit Religious Organisation
“15 January 1969 ECKANKAR INC. CA is Dissolved and a New ECKANKAR and Board Structure is
formed in Las Vegas, Nevada for Tax and Cost advantages.” and

“1970-05-21 ECKANKAR Becomes a Non-Profit in California File Date: 5/21/1970
Type: Domestic Non-Profit Corporation”

It is also clear from known information that despite Paul Twitchell supposedly near death
from “poisoning” in September 1970 and his subsequent ill health that Paul in his personal
Will left everything to his then wife Gail Ann Twitchell. That he never 'donated' anything
himself to the Eckankar Corporation.

19)

Oh there's more but more than enough for now I think.
It all gets way too complex and complicated. :-)

And we're then told that Paul offered to make Patti Simpson
the new LEM in late 1970 but she refused. There's a lot that
Doug Marman knew (or believed as true) but he never spoke
about that along the way nor put it in his TWT book.

Addendum for a DWTM Source Author List

Doug claims (suggests/concludes) in his TWT book that DWTM wasn't plagiarized
like The Far Country book was. But it was very much verbatim copying throughout.

18 authors have been named as sources for the Dialogues with the Master DWTM book,
the largest source so far being Charles Haanel.

Plagiarism doesn't just show up here and there, or in only a few books by
Twitchell, but across all of them. Plagiarism is the norm not the exception
to the standard method used for how Twitchell wrote all his books and
discourses.

"[...] David Lane, a philosophy professor at Mt. San Antonio College in the Los Angeles area and author of several Eckankar books, said Eckankar isn’t dangerous or cultlike but “should be more honest about its origins.” Lane alleges that paragraphs in several books by Paul Twitchell, Eckankar’s founder, were copied from other religious texts. [... .]"

Speaking about Paul Twitchell, the modern day founder of Eckankar, Harold Klemp (the current leader) says:

[...] He was a master compiler. [... .]"

http://www.eckankar.org/FAQ/index.html#paultwitchell

So the idea of plagiarism and copying from other texts is not just allegation only. The fact that Eckankar mentioned the word plagiarism in a major newspaper is a sign it is worth mentioning.

For those who want to look at the "plagiarism allegations" - those mentioned by David Lane and others - I have made it easy for them.

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/alt.religion.eckankar/41391720

Also keyword search these archives for the words "growing list".

Yea. Not just allegations.

"And, as I mentioned before, Harold also spoke with me about his discoveries with Paul's early life while he was uncovering them, and the many books Paul had used as sources for his own writing. Harold also shared the difficulties that arose between himself and Darwin during those times."

http://www.littleknownpubs.com/Dialog_Ch_Twelve.htm

"For the reader who is interested in looking at how wide-ranging Paul's use of other materials really is, outside of the Radha Soami references that David has offered, here are a few of the books I have run across that turned out to be more than just a little bit familiar sounding:

"In The Way of the White Clouds, by Lama Govinda, a book about Tibetan Buddhist teachers, you will find the exact description Paul used when approaching Lai Tsi's cave in The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad. In Walter Russell's book, The Secret of Light, you can hear the words of Brahm speaking to you, just like the words Brahm spoke in The Tiger's Fang. Read Darkness and the Deep, by Vardis Fisher, and you will see the origin of creation as Paul wrote about it in the Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad. A book by Edouard Schure, called The Great Initiates contains some of the same sweeping historical overview as The Spiritual Notebook. Manly Palmer Hall's Karma and Reincarnation covers the whole subject of nidanas that you will find in The ECK Vidya. Besides these, there are a few pages in The Varieties of Religious Experience, by William James, some sections from Ouspensky's The Fourth Way and In Search of the Miraculous, passages from Neville Goddard's The Power of Awareness and Awakened Imagination, and even The Bible has been a source for Paul. Lai Tsi's contemplation seed in the Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad looks very similar to one of the Psalms."

http://www.littleknownpubs.com/Dialog_Ch_Six.htm

"[...] Running across words from Paul's writings in other books surprised me at first, but I now find it an enjoyable discovery. [... .]"

http://www.littleknownpubs.com/Dialog_Ch_Six.htm

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt.religion.eckankar/QsYrXh5EH3g/nK5yXYAoTvoJ

So as an Eckist one cannot escape the fact that Paul Twitchell copied, compiled and borrowed, etc. It has already been admitted in so many words. And now in the major Minnesota newspaper the word *plagiarism*. It is inescapable.

Quote from Etznab

Of course there were real people who wrote and published books. Because Paul and Eckankar used (as is copied, paraphrased, plagiarized, edited, etc.) the words of real people this can be proven by comparing the text.

Iow there are so many word for word examples and this is why both yourself and Eckankar cannot escape admitting the word plagiarism.

Let me spell it out for you ... 1620s, from -ism + plagiary (n.) "plagiarist, literary thief" (1590s) ... .

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?allowed_in_frame=0&search=plagiarism

There's more ... from Latin plagiarius "kidnapper, seducer, plunderer ... .

So clearly the original meaning for this word proves what the action - even today - is talking about.

So all of those words that Paul compiled from real people, the real people who wrote them, were taken by Paul; Harold evidently likes the word "gathered" and "compiler" as forms of euphemism. Maybe (I guess) to make the action seem less than stealing. And it wouldn't have been so bad if Paul had cited the names for all those real people, because it is quite common to use the words and writings of others so long as proper citation and credit is given.

About the former, maybe Paul did include people's real names in the beginning. In fact we have evidences for this when looking at the earlier writings. This is something Harold and Doug would probably know about more in depth because they both looked at Paul's manuscripts and the library handed over by Darwin.

O.K. So what does this prove? It proves that the identity for those individuals who writings contributed to Eckankar dogma and teachings was different and that it was changed. This is something else besides plagiarism, when a person tries to take credit for stolen works by changing the name of the author.

So we have examples of Paul Twitchell and Eckankar going on record writing about and in so many words stating how Rebazar Tarzs dictated to Paul Twitchell what later became material for Eckankar books. You ask me to show proof that this amounts to fiction and I tell you that it has already been stated and it has already been discussed; even argued over and several Eckankar members left the church because of it (several who were clergy and members for decades).

The type of responses you give are clearly what a P.R. person would write who wanted to minimize the severity and repercussions of admitting the creation of pseudo history and religion; the latter elements having caused unnecessary and unloving and unkind results in the lives of many people but where the method for dealing with this and taking responsibility for it has been to "spin" the truth into something less deceitful.

You already admitted that Paul plagiarized, in other words that he "stole" from others, but you have fallen short of admitting he tried to pin responsibility for that on the Eck Masters who he named and wrote about. However, this too can be proven by the record of what Paul and Eckankar sold to people. It can be shown how Paul credited Rebazar Tarzs and others besides the real authors.

This (to me) looks kinda like a criminal denying guilt and wanting to place the blame on someone else by saying He, or She did it. Iow, Paul didn't want people to know what he did so much as he wanted people to know that words of wisdom came to him by an ancient line of spiritual adepts.

From spiritual adepts or library books copied from and plagiarized? See? These are two different things. Just like the real people Paul took from and the Eck Masters he credited are two different things.

I hope my spelling this out for you helps, but I rather imagine you are still trapped in the denial, anger and bargaining bands for death of an ideal.

Furthermore, the burden of proof is on the defendants who have been accused of creating pseudo history, religion and fictions. Eckankar had the books printed and published where several people subsequently accused them of plagiarism and basically having made up false information. These actions were denied, spun and minimized in so many ways and what I came to realize was that the truth will show through in the end and now is time to admit it. Otherwise a lot more of the unnecessary, unkind and unloving actions will continue to haunt the legacy of Eckankar.

So Eckankar has not only been accused, but it was forced to admit whether the accusations were true, or false. Denial is a detraction preventing further inquiry and learning of the actual truth. And for years already denial has been changing into admission. Little by little the pieces are falling into place and the picture not so much a puzzle.

You and I as Eckists have responsibility to be honest with what we know about the truth vs. fiction and it doesn't help to deny the truth. Not any longer.
Eckankar has the documents and materials to prove beyond a doubt what fictions were created and it is they, not you and I, liable for an honest explanation.

Have you considered writing to them, or asking whether Paul created fictions in the process of manufacturing Eckankar? They have the evidence that can prove to you beyond a doubt whether Paul made anything up. All that we can do is talk about and speculate for the most part, but it wasn't us who created the deeds that are in question.

Darwin and Paul are no longer living and it would seem that this would make it a buried case. But no. According to Eckankar and others the Eck Masters are "real" and because people have experiences with them. I take it this includes Rebazar Tarzs. Now you see where I am going?

Rebazar Tarzs? Is this a real person? A real living person? This is what I have been trying to establish the truth about because if he is real then he has some explaining to do. Hiding out in the Himalayas is not a protection because if he is real then he is liable for having created pseudo history and religion and I sincerly believe he needs to answer for it; since he is among the surviving culprits.
