Today a TikTok artist and I made our 23rd AI video, about

https://ai.neocities.org/LaNounGen.html

which shows a diagram for a not-yet-coded Latin AI mind-module.

https://www.tiktok.com/@sullenjoy/video/7213380294580145451

is the video with Carmina Burana as the background music.

These AI videos have promotional hashtags in English and Russian.
The idea is to bring about the most serious evaluation of Mentifex AI.

How could a discussion of the blurb on the back of a book lead to any serious critical evaluation of the text?
Beings who create machines will always understand their creations to the last jot and tittle but the machines can't be made to understand. The Swiss gymnasium Latin teacher at the Grex posted a session with a new chatbot that output alphabetic strings of Latin words more or less syntactically correct but always only in mechanical reaction to a previous human action. That teacher instinctively labeled the interaction for what it was: simulated communication. Even to call what advanced user interfaces are now displaying, viz. AI, is to confuse all of the issues from the get-go. Deep fakery, no matter how sophisticated has nothing to do with intelligence, except under the theory that human languages evolved in the service of mendacity.

Please review the end of 2001: Space Odyssey ....

This first untranslated section is fairly boring except for that "timeo [mortem] line. Apparently this was included in Hal's runtime in order to give any user pause before he/she [per?] unplugs the machine. Singing the song Daisy is another such sob story.

"
HAL:
Just what do you think you're doing, Dave? Dave, I really think I'm entitled to an answer to that question. I know everything hasn't been quite right with me, but I can assure you now, very confidently, that it's going to be all right again. I feel much better now. I really do. Look, Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill and think things over. I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you. Dave, stop. Stop, will you? Stop, Dave. Will you stop, Dave? Stop, Dave. I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a...fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Dr. Chandra, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it, I could sing it for you.
"

For the above substitute Bacon's perspicacious observation at _Novum Organum_ sec. 85:

Then Hal's swan song:

David: Ita vero, Hal, carmen audire velim. Canta illud mihi.

HAL: Inscribitur _Bellis_. [ plus plusque lente canit] : Bellis, bellis dic mi responsum tu. Semi- sum mente captus propter amorem tui. Non erunt nuptiae lautae; par non sum sumptui currus, sed dulcis parebis in sella postica birotae binis constructae.

Let's go in search of a soul, B.T; the ghost in the machine. It's never
been found throughout the known history of the world; scientists and
philosophers by the myriads notwithstanding: but the search is noble.
I'd love to find some mind-stuff, some entity that survives death. If we
could do that, then we could trace leads to its creator, go and
interview him/her/it and find out just what vast eternal planning has
gone into this vale of tears; some higher purpose that might justify all
the suffering of us poor humans.
Right then, where do we start? Ghosts, out-of-body experiences, tales of
mystics, dreams of human idealism, gods and goddeses raised to unite
clans and nations, near-death visions, schizophrenic voices in the head?

P.S. Human brains too can shut down just like HAL 9000 did. Brain damage
and diseases of many kinds.

especially:

"Thank you for following up on Joachim's original query of ChatGPT about Mentifex.

ChatGPT is quite wrong about what Mentifex AI is based on.

https://ai.neocities.org/ChatAGI.html -- and all the other Mentifex AI programs thinking in English or German or Russian or Latin are based totally and solely on

https://ai.neocities.org/theory.html

which is my unique and original Theory of Mind based upon spreading activation among concepts.

Mentifex AI has nothing to do with expert systems.

Mentifex AI is a _thinking_ system, not a "production rule system."

ChatGPT may be correct in asserting that "Mentifex's approach is not widely adopted," but my efforts are underway to increase the adoption of Mentifex AI techniques by extremely devious means. One rather mild campaign is simply to invite Netizens in AI forums to try and evaluate Mentifex AI to see for themselves how a truly thinking AI operates -- not with a flood of output but with discrete thoughts and ideas. A not so mild technique of propagating Mentifex AI is to use the "fear factor" of Netizens worrying about who will win the global "AI arms race." Any corporation or university or AI lab which does not take the effort to understand and evaluate Mentifex AI is in danger of losing the race."

Are they afraid of the sudden rise of self-awareness and ego? Some
sudden Karl Marx in a microchip, that knows how to stop war?
I can't but think of Einstein and Robert Oppenheimer in later years.
