If anyone wants to create seasonal topic poetry collection threads for V day, Thanksgiving, X-mas, etc; done like the Easter thread-- I could use the help.
Just remember the rule: no attack poems aimed at other members past and present-- as Pendragon affirmed, they're not suitable for a true archive/collection.
GD & Hieronymous need to speak up if they want their work included, for I have a suspicion that they may not want their work included.
Pendragon could advise if we should include poetry of members now gone, possibly leaving with grievances.

That's an easy one: only include past members if you contact them first and receive their permission.

Ash, I need to mention that using AAPC or other variations such as a.a.p.c. or alt.arts.poetry.comments will include ALL members of this poetry newsgroup... the group as a whole is unmoderated and open to all poets so using that title and inviting AAPC members may cause a problem since I'm not giving up membership in this group I've been a member of for nearly twenty years.

If you call your projects alt.arts.poetry.comments projects I will consider it open to me and all members, and since you have not specified otherwise, this may be fine with you, I just needed to mention it.
Again if these are alt.arts.poetry.comments projects, they need to be open to ALL members, just stating this for the record, as a member of this poetry newsgroup for nearly twenty years.

It's Ash's project.

He has the right to accept, or refuse, your participation.

It's Ash's call. Bear in mind that many AAPC members refuse to have their poetry appear alongside of your poetry. Allowing you to join in may cause others to pull out.

Ash, this is a good time to mention that you may not realize that soliciting poems from "AAPC members" opens your Spring thread up to all members here on a.a.p.c. which includes me since I've been here for around twenty years, and, of course, Zod.

I had not planned to post a poem on your Spring thread, but your statement clearly invites me and any other members of the alt.arts.poetry.comments group, but probably need to post one to establish my long standing membership here.

Thanks for making a move towards this group being inclusive rather than excluding valid members.

You couldn't possibly renounce your membership to AYoS, as you were never a member to begin with.

Looks like we can add "renounce" to the ever-increasing list of words and phrases Will Dockery refuses to understand.

PING! Dan Barfield. Will needs help editing his posts again.

Which is one of the many reasons why he has the right to accept or refuse you contributions.

Your wonky interpretation of the title is meaningless, Will.

Ash can call it whatever he likes.

If it's posted on AAPC, then he can use AAPC as part of the title.

You have no entitlement to anything regarding his project.

Unmoderated groups have no official moderator. However, the majority of members are going to determine what is, and isn't, considered acceptable behavior.

Those who refuse to comply with the majority's guidelines will end up earning a pariah status... much as have you and your sock.

This isn't a rule that I've made up. It's an observation on the way that Usenet works.

The archives show that you've been disrupting AAPC for the past twenty years (give or take).

The archives also show that you were as much hated then as you are by the current batch of members.

The archives show that I've posted hundreds of poems here.

The archives show that you've been fighting with everyone from the get go.

You're a disruptive presence and a troll.

And, no, spamming/necroposting your (cough!) poetry doesn't make you any less of a troll. It has, in fact, the opposite effect.

Will, I had expected your response. I have prepared for this eventuality. Yes, things marked AAPC are open to those that are here. But there's a penalty to your flame war-- attack poetry was explicitly excluded and that would apply to anyone or thing that brings fighting with it. You bringing trolls with you will destroy what I'm trying to do, so settle your war first. I warn you to think first, you bringing your struggle here will make you look really bad and make it obvious to everyone that you will destroy everything to make everyone else suffer with you.

The members in 2003 were making the same complaints about you that the members are making today.

How do you explain that?

Point out an example of hyperbole in the above. Be specific.

I can't find anything even remotely hyperbolic in it.

*We can add "hyperbole" to the ever-increasing list of words and phrases Will Dockery refuses to understand.

If so, please point out the hyperbole.

HINT: You can't because:

A) None exists, and
B) You have no clue as to what "hyperbole" means, because
C) It's a word you saw Corey use to describe my posts in another thread and figured that if Corey could use it, you could too.

What you failed to consider is that Corey has an unusually large vocabulary and understands what words like "hyperbole" mean. Because he understands what words mean, he can use them properly.

Here's a handy rule of thumb for you to remember: If you don't know what a word means, don't use it. Chances are you'll use it incorrectly and only prove your lack of knowledge/education/comprehension once again.

"you've been fighting with everyone from the get go" - an exaggerated lie, a misrepresentation.

"members in 2003 were making the same complaints about you" - another exaggerated lie, a misrepresentation.

Those are not examples of hyperbole, Will.

Hyperbole is not an exaggeration or a lie, but the use of *language* in an exaggerated form.

Examples:

He was as tall as a mountain.

She sang with the voice of an angel.

Her eyes were as bright as stars.

They aren't true, as they overshoot their mark. No man is actually as tall as a mountain. But they are not lies or exaggerations.

If I told you that you were one of my favorite poets, I would be lying -- but there is no example of hyperbole in that statement.

Another form of hyperbole is when one praises someone in impossible terms:

He was the greatest singer who ever lived.

She is the most beautiful woman in the universe.

Both sentences may be essentially true, but no matter how talented or beautiful the subjects are, the speaker cannot possibly know if his statements are literally true.

Yes, unfortunately with those that know no restraint, they would make it meaningless by using it indiscriminately.
