Thanks Jao Cardoso.
I did the direct cable to my lap top.
Configured my latop with static ip 192.168.1.100 subnet 255.255.255.0
Attached network cable directly to the DNS-321 and my laptop
Did a ping 192.168.1.254 -t
no response.
then I took a paper clip and pushed the reset button at the back just once and released quickly
Wallah
the box came to life and the ping started getting replies.
now I went to the web interface.
Observed the following
the default IP is static
The network interface speed is 1000
I changed the static to dhcp and plugged in my 100 switch. does not work.
plugged in to my 1000 gigabit switch , and it works.
I am using 100baseT switch due to the POE need.
Some how the DNS321 does not work on with the 100baseT switch.
Now I see the ALT-F working in gigabit environment, I will try to find how to connect it to my 100base switch.
There is lot of stuff and my unix /linux is 20+ stale.
