Hi, my Mavic 3 drifted and crashed immediately upon takeoff yesterday. I'd like to know what caused the drift and have read the internal log file (.dat) How can I analyze the data?

Best regards

Hi Dieter,

Thank you for your reply!

While we do not provide a crash or lost drone analysis service, I can certainly point you to a couple of locations within your AirData logs that contain helpful information.

First, select the flight in question by going to MY LOGS -> FLIGHTS, and select the flight from the list on the left-hand side.

With the flight selected, click on the "Notifications" tab under GENERAL. This screen will show you where notifications occurred during the flight. For a play-by-play, click on the "HD Flight Player".

Please be advised that while we display the last known location of the drone, a certain amount of "drift" is to be expected, depending on the altitude of the drone when the signal was lost and the wind conditions for that day.

Additionally, you can download the flight in various file formats (including KML and GPX which are compatible with Google Earth) by going to GENERAL and clicking on the "Overview" tab. You can see the available file formats beneath the display map.

Lastly, you can share the flight on our forum to seek input from our AirData community: https://groups.google.com/g/airdata

Regarding the DAT file you mentioned, please note that DAT files from newer DJI aircraft such as the Mavic 3 are encrypted and cannot be read by AirData. You can see which DAT files are supported here:
https://app.airdata.com/wiki/Help/DAT

If you have not yet uploaded your flight logs, the best method will depend on your controller, flight app, and workflows. For detailed directions, please visit our uploads help page:

Please let us know if you have any further questions and we are happy to help!

Best regards,
Jordan
