Image Ad Extensions

Hi,

Is it possible to automate adding image ad extensions? I can't see any documentation on the Google Ads Scripts developer site.

Across our accounts we have 165k ads initially which we would like to add them to and so cannot do this manually.

Thanks for reaching out. I am Harry from the Google Ads Scripts Team.

If by image ad extensions you mean image extensions, then I'm afraid that this currently not supported in the Google Ads Scripts. Ad extensions including app extensions, call extensions, callout extensions, message extensions, price extensions, review extensions and sitelinks are only the ones that are supported through scripts.

On the other hand, I can reach out to the rest of the team and communicate a feature request on your behalf in this regard. However, please be informed that all requests are subject for consideration and are not guaranteed to be supported anytime soon in the Google Ads Scripts. Please do note also that image extensions are in beta and may not be available to all Google Ads users so this might not be feasible via scripts at the moment.

Nevertheless, I'll still forward the request for you if you would like to proceed. Kindly confirm and provide a sample use case to the feature.

Is there an update on whether we can get Google Ads Scripts support for image ad extensions at the MCC level? 

I'm following the blog that you linked to in June - would any updates to Google Ads Scripts be posted under the newer label

Is it possible that I could use"this process to add scripts in the child accounts that would upload an image extension? I've been trying to upload image extensions with an image URL/photo URL using the bulksheet template provided in the Google Ads UI, but I get a vague error "An error occurred. Please try again later." when trying to bulk upload image extensions - below is what I tried uploading:

We have just launched a new backend for bulk uploads in Google Ads Scripts. Starting today, you can opt into the new experience by specifying the useLegacyUploads flag when creating a new bulk upload:
var upload = AdsApp.bulkUploads().newCsvUpload(columns, {useLegacyUploads: false});

Thanks for following up here. Allow me to reach out to the rest of team with regard to the feature request of image ads extensions and update you accordingly. With this, you should follow the blogs labeled under google_ads_scripts instead. Furthermore, I can confirm that image extensions are currently not supported through Google Ads Scripts; hence, you are encountering an error when trying to bulk upload the entity in question via scripts.

On the other hand, you may try to reach out to the Google Ads Product Support Team through this link to see if image ads extensions are already supported for manual bulk upload in the UI.

Let me know if you have further questions on this.

I regret to inform you that there are no significant updates yet about this request because our team is still having a discussion whether this kind of functionality will be feasible to be implemented on Google Ads Scripts. Hi James and team,

I understand that Ads Script still don't support bulk upload of image extensions.

There is an image extension bulk upload template and it does work (see here: https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/10702525#zippy=%2Cad-extensions). 

However, it only works for existing assets despite the "image url" option. When I try to use the "image url" column instead of the "asset id" column, I get the same error as the previous poster, ie.: "An error occurred. Please try again later."

Can you please confirm that the "image url" option should work?

The image I'm linking to works fine when uploading it in the UI, it's square and 1200x1200px.

In any case, you may reach out to the Google Ads products support team to know more about the image extension bulk upload template as they are more knowledgeable with the said template. You may contact them through this link instead.
