Hi,

If I use a portfolio target roas strategy for a campaign and for a limited time period wish to use a different target roas for specific adGroups within this campaign, I can only do it via bulk uploads as target roas is not available in AdsApp.AdGroupBidding

Like here, where adGroup target roas is changed to 732

Now, when I wish to change it back to campaign default,, How can i do that in an automated way?

I have tried to set it to blanc, zero and various string values, but I cannot seem to nullify the adGroup target roas value without deleting the adGroup itself.

Thanks
Sigurd

Hi Sigurd,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Ads Scripts Team.

I would agree that the method setTargetRoas() (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/reference/adsapp/adsapp_campaignbidding#setTargetRoas_1) which is available for campaigns is not available for ad groups. There also does not appear to be a method to remove the value that was set. With this, would you be so kind as to provide the following information so that our team can further investigate the behaviour?:

  • Google Ads account ID or CID
  • Name of the script

Best regards,

Hi again,

So, this was more of a general question of how to do something.

However, I actually have a test script running that gives adGroups with few impressions a lower tRoas than the rest, so as to try to get them going.
*As I cannot figure out how to clear adGroup level tRoas when they no longer need the lower tRoas, I have been forced to just add a tRoas values to all adGroups.
This is not ideal as: 1) it increases complexity. 2) It scatters data available for the bidding algorithm, potentially making it less efficient

Account: 939-573-3309
Name: "TEST: Update adGroup tRoas settings from portfolio bid strategy"
Line #74 is where I'd prefer to clear the adGroup tRoas value forcing it to use the campaign settings instead.

Thanks
sigurd

Hi Sigurd,

Thank you for providing more context to this. I was able to confirm the behaviour and would agree that only through bulk upload can you change an ad group's target roas. With this, I can raise a request to have this feature exposed via Google Ads Scripts but please note that our team would be unable to provide a definite timeline with regard to it's release. I would instead recommend you keep an eye on our Ads Developer Blog for future updates and latest announcements.

Thanks.

The important thing is to be able to clear adGroup tRoas, so as to force the adGroup to use the campaign setting.
