Hi,

I hope all is well. I'm wondering if there will be an extension to migration date to the new script experience. While the alerts were sent out back in April to notify us of the migration, the actual new scripts were not published and working correctly until recently. For agencies like ours that have implemented hundreds of linkchecker and negative keyword conflicts scripts, it would be great to actually have enough time to update them before the migration date.

Can you share the details of how the migration will be rolled out / handled?

  • What happens to any scripts that have not been updated? will the code itself be updated or will the "new experience" option just be turned on?
  • Will some accounts be migrated before others? is there an order to the rollout?
  • Is there a way to request an extension for our agency?

I would like to upvote this post.

Some of our scripts (or created by Google and copied from their "Solutions" page) still throw adsapp internal errors. I have already asked for help here on the forum, and they assured me it's on their list. However, I don't think the issues will be fixed in the last 7 days and if does get fixed, I have no time to check it before the 31st of October. Extension for like a month or so would be fine for me.

Hi Leon,

Thank you for reaching out to us. This is Yasmin from the Google Ads scripts team.

As per this blog post and the Ads Developer Blog, it appears that the migration is still on schedule. Scripts will default to the new script experience once legacy scripts sunset. October 31st should be the expected date for legacy scripts to not work, but since there are a lot of issues being encountered, there may be a possibility for the migration to be extended. On that note, our team would be unable to further comment on this as there isn't an official announcement yet. You may instead keep an eye on the Ads Developer Blog in the event that there are changes to the migration deadline as it should be cascaded there; but as much as possible, if your team can comply with the migration before October 31st, then you may use that as reference.

I believe that all users of Google Ads scripts will be affected by this migration, such that there are no exceptions to any users, and that there is no order to the rollout. There also is no way in order to request for an exemption and extension for a certain user. This is why we are highly recommending that users manually move their scripts before the deadline (October 31st) in order to ensure continued functionality.

Let us know if we can assist you with anything else.

Regards,

Hi,

Are there any updates on this? I don't see any updates, but the scripts running on the previous version still seem to run fine. It would be really helpful if you would be able to post an update on the Google Ads developer blog.

Best,
Luuk

I second Luuk's question. I don't notice that any of our old version scripts that are enabled have been updated or are using the new experience. Can we please have an update or more details about how this is being rolled out?

Reposting the last inquiry (https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-scripts/c/CyehoVQF8ys) from the forum as it wasn't routed to our support queue.

Hi All,

This is Yasmin from the Google Ads scripts team. Please excuse us as your messages failed to be routed to our support queue.

Just to provide an update on the migration, any scripts that are not already auto-migrated to the new experience will not be auto-migrated until at least January 5. Essentially, we are pausing the migration effective now until early next year.

Yasmin

Hi,

There still hasn't been an official update on the blog. Will we get an official update on it soon? Will the migration proceed after January 5? Based on the forum it seems that there are still some unresolved issues with the new experience. I myself have at least 3 or 4 open topics, so an official update on the blog would be appreciated.

Hello Luuk,

I confirm that there’s indeed no official post that has been released in our blog post. However, I assure you that the migration has been delayed until the end of the year and will resume in early January. With this, users are highly encouraged to manually update their script to ensure continued functionality.

I understand that there are still some unresolved issues with the new script experience. But I believe the team is working closely to resolve all the pending issues in the latest version. I also believe that the team is still open for considerations. We’ll just respond to the respective tickets that you have created once there’s an update.

Hoping for your understanding.

Hi,

I still haven't received updates on posts from about 6 months ago. I haven't seen an update on the developer blog about the migration to the new ads scripts experience as well and we still have scripts running on the previous version of the ads scripts environment.

Would you please be able to post an (official) update about the migration of scripts?

Best,
Luuk

Hello,

This case has been escalated to me. We are currently in the process of ramping back up the migrations. The previous communication mentioned that we wouldn't start again until at least January, so the rollout can begin again now at any time. We are trying to take a caution approach rather than roll out all at once.

Mike, Google Ads Scripts Team

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the update. I still have some open issues (I think about 4), all related to scripts in the new script experience. Are scripts that are known to have issues marked on your end so they won't automatically be switched to the new ads scripts environment?

Hello,

Part of the delay in resuming the migration is our effort to fix some outstanding issues, and in some cases we are delaying rollouts for certain scripts depending on whether or not they're affected by certain issues. Unfortunately, I can't be much more specific than this.

If you share the email subjects or reference IDs for the various open issues you have, I can check on them specifically.

Hi,

Thanks. Of course I can, here you go:

System errors: Script runs sometimes and sometimes gives an error > https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-scripts/c/IYkAEHtSPqc/m/xF-8PlUGAgAJ

And it seems that one issue, an important one for us actually, has been closed or deleted but I still had the link in another email conversation: https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-scripts/c/-0J83xoCkTo. Would you be able to restore that issue or else I would have to open a new issue for the same problem (which is quite inefficient).

Best,
Luuk

Hello,

I'm forwarding these specific issues to the relevant teams in order to try to get them to take a look sooner. For the missing one, unfortunately, I can't find any records of that on our side either. The search functionality in our tool is limited. I understand that this is frustrating, but for now I think the best thing to do would be to file a new issue for that one.

I will keep an eye on these and keep you posted as I have any new information to share.

Mike, Google Ads API Team

Hi,

Alright. It's really sad to hear that the thread is deleted an I have to report it again. I don't understand why I have to go through the hassle of reporting an issue while it shouldn't have been deleted since it wasn't solved in the first place. I'm sorry to say but it's frustrating indeed. I will send in an issue next week. The issue was for a script that I run in a client manager account. The testing & development of the script takes place in my developer MCC. Would you like me to report both the dev and live version of the script (in the same issue) in order to make sure they won't be migrated automatically?

Best,
Luuk

Hello,

The team has made a bunch of fixes over the past few months that should address a lot of issues like the ones you reported. Since the last report you made was back in October, we don't have logs anymore of those executions.

The link checker issue is excepted from this. There have been a few reports of issues with this solution, so our team is looking into that separately.

If you have any recent executions that are still failing, can you point me at the specific failures in your script history so that our team can investigate? We will treat these with priority.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back. I understand and I'm sorry for the frustration. I have recreated the ticket after I tested and found out the same issue still appears. Would you be able to have a look at this one with priority? https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-scripts/c/MVQ5WMj4hp4

Thanks in advance. Regards,

I'm just writing another comment to make sure this post has been forwarded to the support query, since it seems that that issue is still going on :)
