Hi,

We're looking to improve our tracking as we often have additional "post sale" revenue that should be attributed to the original conversion that we record via an offline conversion.

Is there a time limit/cut off point for sending Conversion Adjustments?

For example:
  1. Person is initially tracked on the 1st January 2023
  2. We record a conversion on the 1st March 2023 (90 day window for the conversion) - the amount is £800.
  3. At some point after the 1st March 2023 we wish to record an additional £200 against that conversion (upsell, sales order correction etc).
For point 3 is there a time limit for recording a correction? I see we have to wait a minimum of 24 hours (which makes sense), but is there a maximum time before the conversion becomes fixed and uneditable?

Many thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Yes, I could confirm that there is a time limit or cutoff for sending conversion adjustments, and you need to wait 24 hours after a conversion is reported before adjusting it to avoid a CONVERSION_NOT_FOUND (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v14/ConversionAdjustmentUploadErrorEnum.ConversionAdjustmentUploadError#conversion_not_found) or TOO_RECENT_CONVERSION (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v14/ConversionAdjustmentUploadErrorEnum.ConversionAdjustmentUploadError#too_recent_conversion) error.

Moving forward to this, "is there a time limit for recording a correction? I see we have to wait a minimum of 24 hours (which makes sense), but is there a maximum time before the conversion becomes fixed and uneditable?"

  • It seems that the concern is more with data accumulation; kindly note that even if the uploads were performed via API, When API uploads are successful, product-level factors should then affect the final values reflected. That said, if you have further questions regarding data accumulation, I recommend that you reach out instead to the Google Ads Product Support team via this link: https://support.google.com/google-ads/gethelp, as they are better equipped to provide guidance on this matter.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks,

However, it seems the my question wasn't read in full? I had already mentioned I was aware of the minimum of 24 hours.

The bit I needed clarity on is this:
"but is there a maximum time before the conversion becomes fixed and uneditable?"

This isn't confirmed anywhere in Google's documentation. Can I assume there's no time limit for making alterations to a recorded conversion?

Kind regards
Greg

Hi Greg,

According to the Google Ads API's CONVERSION_EXPIRED (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v14/ConversionAdjustmentUploadErrorEnum.ConversionAdjustmentUploadError#conversion_expired) error, an adjustment can't be made to a conversion that occurred more than 54 days ago.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have additional clarification.

Perfect! I looked everywhere in the documentation, but didn't see that page. 🙂

"an adjustment can't be made to a conversion that occurred more than 54 days ago."

Does anyone know if this is the conversion time or the upload time?

The wording seems to indicate conversion time, but it is not 100% clear.

Hi,

Yes, adjustments are not possible for conversions made more than 54 days ago.

I hope it helps.
