"HTML5 Ad" has no AdType in the report and is not returned by AdgroupAdService

Hello,

one of our customers has some peculiar Ads in their account.

Example:

campaignId: 317716007

AdgroupId: 72472174998

AdId: 433377016075

They are called "HTML5 Ads" in the UI, when we try to request them from AdgroupAdService they basically do not exist there 

and when we request an AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT, we get rows for them with some properties but no value for AdType.

What kind of Ads are those and are those supposed to be handled via API at all?

Hi Konstantin,

These ads are a new ad type that are only available in AdWords API through reporting. You won't be able to create or mutate these ads using AdWords API. This ad is available through Google Ads API as a DisplayUploadAd.

As the Ads API is still in beta is there anyway to get these ads in the current Adwords API?  https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/AdGroupAdService.Ad.Type?hl=pt-BR  

We want to be able to get information about these ads such as the dimensions but how can we know the type?

Using AdWords API, you will see these ads return but the AdType will come in as blank.

We have some times where the same ad_id was returned as TEMPLATE_AD and then we later on get it blank? Can you explain why that is and looking at  https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-api/c/k3tVSGKWQUw  there is another example of someone getting conflicting results.

For TEMPLATE_ADs we were able to get further information about the ads such as  TemplateAdName shown here https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/selectorfields?hl=de  and we would also receive useful information  about the file where the images could be seen but with these blank ads we are getting no information. The users say the ads they are creating are no different to the ones in the past so have these new ads that are returning the blank ad_type new?

This is the big issue for us because we cannot get copies of the images at the moment which is what we could get from Template Ads and then display them for the client.
