Placement Targeting Engine/API

Hello Guys,

My team and i are working to create Ads Platform using Google Ads API.. now we are focusing on placement targeting.

I'm wondering if we can mimics the automated search on Google Ads Platform like the screenshot attached.

What's the Object required for such workflow ?

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. There was a system issue on our end so we were unable to respond to you earlier. The placement targeting could only be configured as negative using the Google Ads API. You could set it through the CampaignCriterionService and AdGroupCriterionService. For more information you could refer to this documentation.

From our debugging, the dashboard is calling for PlacementRecommendationService  (on the end-point)... but i couldn't find such info in documentation... can you help me on this ?

Thank you for raising your concern.

Could you clarify if the dashboard that you've mention belongs to a third-party tool? Also, is this third-party tool is using Google Ads API on its backend? If yes, then I am afraid that there is no PlacementRecommendationService in Google Ads API.

We only have this recommendation and it appears that placement recommendation is not supported here. With this, could you confirm if the placement recommendation is a feature of Google Ads UI and you are looking for corresponding API service? Please provide this information so that I can raise a feature request.

Hi Viktor,

Thank you for reaching out. The API doesn’t expose the PlacementRecommendationService. However, as you might know, the Google Ads UI does not always directly use the API services. In other words, the Google Ads UI might use different services as a wrapper for certain functionalities in the API and sometimes it even has its own implementations for some functionalities. Please understand this difference.
