Didn't want to raise a formal issue, since this is more of an
Android bug than an Ace one, but just thought I'd open a
discussion...
So: Ace is pretty broken on android.
to reproduce: open an ace editor from an android device (personally
tested on 2.3, can also do this in the android sdk emulator). type,
eg, "Hello". Output is "HHeHelHellHello" - and it can be even more
erratic.
This seems to be due to the Android autocorrect/autocomplete
feature.
Workaround: ask user to switch off all autocorrect/autocomplete in
their android keyboard settings. Major pain, obviously.
Although there are some html tags designed to tell mobile devices to
not autocomplete/autocorrect, these aren't well supported in
Android. cf
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5380972/disable-spelling-assistance-in-html-for-mobile-devices
You're supposed to be able to use:
<input type="text" id="test" name="keyword" autocorrect="off" autocapitalize="off" autocomplete="off" />
but it doesn't work. May help on IPhones though?
