Recently started a project that uses Ace Editor.  It allows you to install on your own server and edit code directly on that server.  Its free and open source.

http://neutronide.com/

If you want to add it to your "Projects Using Ace" that would be awesome.  There wasn't anything out there that used ACE without having to buy some kind of service, so here you go.

I've been using it successfully for 2 months now but probably still needs some kinks worked out.

Didn't want to raise a formal issue, since this is more of an Android bug than an Ace one, but just thought I'd open a discussion...

So:  Ace is pretty broken on android.

to reproduce:  open an ace editor from an android device (personally tested on 2.3, can also do this in the android sdk emulator).  type, eg, "Hello".  Output is "HHeHelHellHello" - and it can be even more erratic.

This seems to be due to the Android autocorrect/autocomplete feature.

Workaround:  ask user to switch off all autocorrect/autocomplete in their android keyboard settings.  Major pain, obviously.

Although there are some html tags designed to tell mobile devices to not autocomplete/autocorrect, these aren't well supported in Android.  cf

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5380972/disable-spelling-assistance-in-html-for-mobile-devices

You're supposed to be able to use:
<input type="text" id="test" name="keyword" autocorrect="off" autocapitalize="off" autocomplete="off" />

but it doesn't work.  May help on IPhones though?

Awesome Idea. I'm going to try this out.

Great to see more players in the space!  May I introduce our own contribution:

http://www.pythonanywhere.com

At its core, a browser-based python console.  Built around that, a wider Python IDE / development environment, featuring the awesome ace editor, console vim and emacs, cron jobs, git/hg/svn/dropbox integration, and coming soon, web app hosting.

Having checked out neutron, I have to say I think we have some way to go in terms of elegance of presentation however.

If it's a free-for-all, we'd love a link from the "projects using ace" page too!

cheers,
Harry

Cool, I didn't know you could run cloud9 on your own.  Definitely a better interface than Neutron IDE but I hope to add some cooler features soon to Neutron like the editing of images in Pixlr http://pixlr.com/ and hopefully a good command line terminal.

Like ShiftEdit, but you'd already know that ;)

and hopefully a good command line terminal.
