Updates and Announcements

Hello everyone, for several months now the group has seen no
activity. Once again another group I've put together has basically
died. I moved to Google Groups from Yahoo Groups specifically to take
advantage of Google's superior anti-spam features. So far the group
has been spam free, and its been free of posts by members. We have
lots of members, even new ones joining, but nobody is posting
anything.

This is an anime discussion forum with a focus on fan fiction, but we
can talk about anything. We have people here who do fan fiction for
Star Trek and Harry Potter, so we're pretty open to ideas outside the
realm of anime.

If nothing happens in the next few months I am considering shutting
down the group. I don't know what more else to do to get people to
post here. its not like we have a lack of members or a lack of things
to talk about. My homepage will be moving to Google Sites soon but
the URL should remain the same. I'm close to update one of my fan
fics and I'm working on a novel at the same time, so I'm pretty busy.

Anyway, hello new members who recently joined us.

Well i don't know what to say i keep forgetting about the group I've been so busy with work & life in general i forget we Evan have this group.

If i could type for the hell of it i would post stories so i could get feedback but i can't I'm more of a reviewer so to speak. I know for a fact Zorch Central started out with posts nearly every hour then days then weeks so has everybody moved on from anime. To real life if so i don't think we would mind having a discussion about things in life.

Hmmm... I merely monitor the site RSS feed for activity.

If this is to be shut down then what of the stories that exist only

You know... I think it would be a bad thing if the group was to be shut
down... We just need something to get us talking again. Who knows.. Maybe a
bit of dialogue would prompt me to keep my stories going....

Well the decision to shutdown isn't a done deal. Its just there's
been so little activity here for so long. I'm pretty much the only
one who has really posted anything except for one other person.

I'm thinking of ideas but nothing is coming to me at the moment.

Dragon, annoy us anytime you have something ready, and Zorch it sounds like a good idea to post more here... though don't post everything about the novel here.. you have to leave some surprises for us to see in the book.

The character Orrin Quintarin from the Dark Lord of Jurai was an
original character I've been working on for a novel for several years
now. I'm about ready to begin the first novel in what will be a
series.

Orrin is the younger son of the Sovereign of the Satari Imperial
Repulic which makes their home within a massive 2 AU (Astronomical
Unit = the distance between the Earth and the Sun) diameter
sphere-world dubed Galiea created long ago by a long lost civilization
known as the Elo'quin. Galiea is host for the Alliance of Sentient
Planets, a neo-political body which helps promote peace between the
people's of the galaxy. Orrin becomes first heir when his older
brother is killed while on a diplomatic envoy to the home world of the
Imperium, a relatively new member of the Alliance of Sentient Planets.
They claim the death was due to attack by pirates, his brother was on
an unarmed vessel. What is known about the Imperium is shrouded in
mystery, they are a very secretive people, and Orrin begins having
strange dreams which lead him suspect the Imperium's involvement in
his brother's death.

Orrin has had many such dreams throughout his life. These prophetic
dreams lead him to pursue a scientific study of the ancient Elo'quin
race, and prompted him to establish the Absconditus. The Absconditus
is Orrin's own personal specialized task force of scientists and
fighters with their own fleet of ships and take orders only from him
and him alone. With the aid of the Absconditus he begins to try and
put the pieces together of the puzzle surrounding his brother's death,
but faces opposition on both sides. The Imperium tries to stop him
from looking into the truth, and his father fears Orrin's actions
might destabilize the delicate peace in the region. Of course, Orrin
discovers more than he bargained for in his investigation and the
lines between reality and fantasy begin to blur. The novel is a cross
between hard core sci-fi, with a heavy influence by Anime, and
fantasy. This first novel is the beginning of an epic series I plan
to write.

I've seriously refined Orrin's story a lot more since then. Orrin in
The Dark Lord of Jurai is now a kind of AU version of the one from the
novel now. His abilities are more like those Ranma and Akane have in
Upon Ethereal Wings more or less now.

Realy cool but still your are doing a re-write of that tenchi story would it change the concept of it if you changed him in that as well.?

I don't know, I've been considering a rewrite of The Dark Lord of
Jurai to improve it and fix a lot of mistakes, but I haven't decided
yet.

Part 3 of chapter 6 from "Ranma Forever" is nearly done and I'll post
it here soon.

OK, I'm editing a number of Man from UNCLE stories which will end up
being slanted toward the bad guys, if I can keep up the momentum.
Probably no one else on this list is a fan, but I think the stories will
stand on their own ... oh, yeah, they're also Lovecraftian in flavor. I
have this thing about tentacles ... and deep ones and nasty evil cults
... LOL

wondered what he did with all those tentacles. :)

acutally, the overfiend may have borrowed them ... HPL wrote weird fic in the 20s and 30s ... with tentacles in places most people would not want them if they were sane ... not a trait a lot of his characters rely on, sanity <g>
