Just a little ditty....

1/2 and Ah! My Goddess Cross that focuses on Ranma and Mara. So far there
is not really a match-up... But Mara will most likely be there and disrupt
all those waffy Ranma & Akane moments so he does not really ever grow closer
to Akane.
An attempt.
Ranma was hobbling along, in pain and in misery. It had been only a short
time since his first time 'going cat' after arriving at the Tendo home, as
well kissing Akane while still a 'cat', which was quickly followed by
getting into a fight with Ryoga and Kuno at the same time. So now here he
was on his way to Doctor Tofu's to see if there was a way to lessen the
pain.
"Feh. Jerks! Ganging up on me like that. That don't even count as a kiss!"
he grumbled as he made his way.
"My my my. how the mighty have fallen," said a very feminine voice from
behind him.
Whirling around he was about to say something when he came face to face with
a blonde haired woman with reddish brown eyes. As he looked her in the eyes
he slowly began to notice other features such as her incisors were more like
fangs, but the thing that jogged his memory was the almost 'V' shaped red
markings on her forehead. "Mara?"
"In the flesh!" She said with a grin and spreading out her arms, she spun
around allowing him to see her fully.
Slowly his mind took in her appearance and realized that a lot must have
happened to her. "Mara. you've changed?"
Dropping her arms, she sighed. "Yea. I was called away to take care of
something. but."
"It got all messed up didn't it?" He asked her and knew how things can get
messed up pretty quickly.
With her shoulders and head drooping, she sighed and told him, "Yeah, and
because I failed. I."
"Oh. I'm sorry." he really wasn't quite sure what to say. It wasn't long
after he was taught the cat fist that Mara started appearing and strangely
enough began helping him. Keeping him alive, fed, and above all from going
crazy by being all alone at times. Even knowing that she was a demon and
having witnessed her demonic powers, he often wondered why she helped him,
but all she had told him then and several times since was that it was her
job to make sure he survived.
Squaring her shoulders she smiled at him, "So tell me, what've you been up
to lately?"
Ranma knew this tactic of changing the subject when you didn't want to talk
about something, yet he was never good at it working for him. "Oh you know
me, not much at all!" He laughed nervously, but it didn't seem to work.
"Really, you are battered, bruised and limping. Not to mention that you
were sulking just a moment ago."
"Ah well you see."
"Would you prefer I just read your thoughts, as a demon I can do that you
know."
"I. gah. I." every time she mentioned that it always made him think of
everything he didn't want her to know.
"I see. engaged. and several rivals. and oh. this is interesting." She said
with a saucy smile. "So you've finally kissed someone."
"GAH! It's not like I wanted to!"
Mara sighed she knew how that went. "Yeah I know." she then looked around
and noticed a man pulling a street cart. Knowing Ranma was always hungry,
she thumbed in the carts direction. "So, want a bite to eat?"
"SURE!" He said happily and quickly the two of them were eating and talking
the night away.
With food on his belly, and a mostly sympathetic ear, Ranma laid out his
life to the girl that used to help him. even if it was strange to get help
from a demon. And in doing so, he completely missed a familiar shorthaired
girl walking back from Doctor Tofu's clinic on the other side of the street
as well as the feline following the girl.
Having moved from the vendor after practically eating everything he had, the
two of them staggered to the park. "So let me get this straight." Mara said
as she sat down on the grass. "After I had to leave you when you were ten,
your father kept coming up with stupid training methods, and even took you
to a cursed training ground?"
Nodding miserably, Ranma was unable to say much about this.
"And then you were taken to the Amazons where you picked up an unwanted wife
after having been cursed to turn into a girl with cold water."
"Yea. the fat panda just. he just."
"Keeps screwing your life over. After he sold your soul to save his own.
which was followed by the neko-ken training. which brought us together."
He sighed, "Yea. though why do you keep saying you help me cause it's you're
job?"
"Because it is." She said simply. Her recent encounters with the three
goddesses taught her a lot. Mainly it was that she was not as first class
as she thought. After everything she went through, she was then demoted,
and had some of her power stripped away. Those things left an awful taste
in her mouth that she didn't want repeated. And so when she was told
earlier this year to return to her first assignment of keeping Ranma's soul
for the darkness meant that she had to keep him alive.
"Um... sure."
She just smiled at him knowing that this assignment was going to be a lot
easier than her old one. "Don't worry I'm here now, and you'll have me
watching your back."
Ranma took one look at the blonde woman and sighed knowing that this was not
going to be good, at all. "I don't think it's a good idea?"
"Oh you mean because of Akane?"
"Yea. she gets really mad when she thinks I'm being perverted or whatever."
Unconsciously he rubbed his head.
"Then why don't you do something about it?"
"What?"
"Ranma. you're too soft hearted. Stand up to them! Look, you're a martial
artist, so why do you let her hit you. why do you let them do any of this to
you?"
"I. well."
"You see, that's the problem, you're too soft." She knew his aversions to
being called weak and while it might have helped here, she knew that it'd
only work against her later.
"But. I mean there're girls."
"And Ryoga. and this Kuno person?" She asked with a raised brow.
"They're just idiots."
"So being an idiot means its ok to try and kill you? You do realize that my
job is to keep you alive, and if they jeopardize that." She left the threat
hanging as black fire formed in her palm for a moment before disappearing.
"NO NO NO its ok! I'll take care of it!"
"Good, you better. We can't have you dying because of some stupid feud or
the delusions of a wanna-be."
"Wanna be?"
Blinking Mara looked at him for a moment then sighed. "Yes, from what I've
seen of your memories and thoughts, he idolizes himself as a samurai." She
then giggled, "But the idiot is digging his own grave! Imagine a mortal
claming to be the judgment of the kami! If anything, he will be the one
that will be judged and punished! He's blaspheming against them, and in his
own delusions believes it to be so true he is dragging everyone with him!"
At this the demoness began to laugh loudly and to the point that she was
holding her sides.
For Ranma, this was a bit of an eye-opener in that Kuno was deluding himself
and making things worse. He knew that with what his pops did to him that he
was mostly likely gonna go to hell. But to know that Kuno was doing so and
deluding himself the whole time made him almost feel sorry for the idiot.
After several moments, she got herself under control. "Sorry about that.
ow. that hurts."
"Um. it's ok." he hazarded as what else were you to say to a demon.
"Ok, lets see. then you have Nabiki. she believes that she is conducting her
business for the good of the family, however no one ever looks at the bottom
line, its how the heart is. And she enjoys manipulating and controlling
others." Mara then sighed longingly. "Maybe I should extend a contract to
her. with what she's already doing I bet she'd jump at the chance for more
power."
"NO!" Ranma stated firmly. "Look, you already got me. ok. leave them outta
this."
"But she has so much potential." Mara pouted.
"Just. leave her alone. ok. and Akane too." While neither of them were on
his list of favorite people right now, that didn't mean he wanted them to be
harmed. or worse. like he was.
"Ok, but you have to promise me that in exchange for the Tendo girls, I
still have you."
He gulped, but there was no way he could allow them to get mixed up in
things like he was. "Ok. I. I promise that. that you still have me if ya
leave them alone."
"Thank you Ranma!" she said and gave him a quick hug. "All I need you to do
is sign this, stating that in exchange for the Tendo's I get you."
Gulping again. Ranma reached out and took the document. Slowly he signed it
and prayed that the girls would understand what he was doing and why.
"Now don't look so sad Ranma. this just means that you and I will be seeing
more of each other."
Ranma just nodded his head and sighed. "So. you'll leave them alone?"
"As stated, I will not seek the souls of the three Tendo daughters. But
that doesn't mean that if they attack me, that I won't defend myself." He
nodded his head, and that was all he could really hope for. "Ranma. it's
kind of nice out tonight."
Blinking hard he tried to understand how she went from talking about them,
to talking about the night. "What?"
"When your father was dragging you all over the place we never got the
chance just to stop and look around really."
"That's kind of strange coming from a demon."
She smirked at him. "I know. but in the past few years things have change
so much." While she was feeling kind of melancholy, she didn't want to tell
him that he was her last chance. If she failed this mission, then she would
be completely stripped of her powers.
Unknowing of her thoughts, Ranma just sighed and said, "Yea." before leaning
back on the grass to look up at the stars. "Seems things keep spiraling
outta my control." hearing her giggle he amended that. "Not that I ever had
much control of things anyway."
Mara leaned back as well and laying beside him the two of them looked up at
the stars. For Mara, she had never really done this much, but now she was
not sure of her own future. While she had his signature, it was a far cry
from having him join their side.
Neither one noticed as the other began to close their eyes, nor that they
had allowed themselves to fall asleep out under the stars in the park.

Early the next morning, Ranma awoke, and smiled as he looked up at the trees
with the sun shinning through the leaves. "Man, I haven't woke up like this
since pops an I." he suddenly stopped, sat up and looked around, thus
confirming that he was not at the Tendo home, and was really in a park.
Though what made things worse was the fact that he awoke with a girl right
beside him. While it brought some comfort that she was not cuddled up
against him, it was still not a good thing. "Oh man."
Slowly Mara opened her eyes and blinked hard before covering her eyes.
"Cure that light, it's too bright."

I was just wondering what you all thought about it so far and could offer
some critiques. Like if the concept is good, or some other places and
things to throw in. I want the three goddesses to be more or less absent
from this for the most part.

a lot of the "Akane & Ranma" Moments happened that people seem to like oh so
(annoyingly) much. By eliminating things, such as how in this meeting Akane
never carried Ranma home on her back from Dr Tofu's. If I keep interrupting
moments before they even happen, then the cannon Ranma and Akane pairing
won't be near as strong.
Since Mara is set to keep Ranma alive, anything she see or perceives as a
threat she will act on, in true Mara the demon fashion. So Ranma will be
trying to prevent that from happening, as well as trying to keep her from
collecting everyone else's souls as contracts.
While I like the fact that Ranma is much stronger later in the series, I
didn't want him to be too strong and that was reluctant to take Mara on in a
head to head fight. Since after Saffron he could beat her, but this early
in the series, he might not have a chance at it.
What do you think, or am I just rambling on?

Sounds good to me I had an idea arlier about
Ranma...what if Genma had put a curse on Ranma so that
he attaracted all of the bad karma in an
area...especially Genmas? This would explain why he
has such bad luck and such

Though how would one get out from under something like that? And if he
attracted all the bad karma.. Man... Then even Kuno's, Nabiki's and Akane's
bad karma would be put on him so would Ryoga, Soun and countless others.
His life would really suck. Oh wait... That kind of explains a lot.

fresh approach to a Ranma fic. I assume Ranma's predicament won't be
allowed to continue by the Kami. After all he was a child when his soul
was sold by his father, and it could likely be claimed by the Kami that
since it wasn't Ranma who sold it in the first place the sale was
invalid. Or, now that Ranma knows that everyone is basically "going to
hell" quite literally that he might take steps to make a change which ends
up saving souls. Thus, this could be a test to see if Ranma was worthy of
something higher in Kami-sama's eyes. Boy would that just burn Mara and
Hild's buiscuts.
I also assume that Mara's demotion was because she failed to break up
Keiichi and Bellandy, which prompts me to ask if the Norns will show up in
this fic or not? And, is it me or are you hinting at a possible
Ranma+Mara pairing here?

Technically, since she is a demon, she doesn't have to follow EXACLTY
the only react if attacked rule. Especially if that is someone like
Genma.
To really put another nail in his coffin, have genma's past come up
to bite him, and have him offer his son's soul AGAIN... In front of
everybody. That way, Mara can say... "oooh, too bad you already did
that xx years ago, remember?" Oh the beatings. Then because he tried
to offer collateral that was already spoken for, by another demonic
contract no less, have his soul be scheduled for the ninth circle and
let him get a short preview. Getting sucked into a sulfurous pit of
flame in front of Happosai and Cologne might make an impression, to say
the least.
Of course poor Kasumi will have to buy stock in the Renuzit company
to get the smell of burnt panda hair out of the dojo when he returns.
Since it is a demonic situation, Mara can enter Akane's dreams and
show her what her future will be like, especially after Mara shows her
repeatedly beating Ranma to death and what hapens afterwards. She can
see her own death as the fiancees take revenge, and/or she can see
herself getting to be some cellmate's play toy. See if that soaks in
for her.
Each of the people in his life can be shown the worst case scenarios
of their actions, and what happens because of those actions. It's the
beauty of being part of the dark side; you don't have to play nice-nice
with the people in ranma's life.
Kuno can get a taste of exaclty WHAT an evil sorcerer's wrath feels
like. His sister can be introduced to a drug induced nightmare of epic
proportions. etc. etc.
Oooh... being evil can be fun. *ahem*

I was talking to Tex James about this and could it be

Years ago after starting the training trip Genma had
a curse put on Ranma that forced all of Genmas and
everybody elses bad karma onto the boy? The catch
being you had to be near him for 6 months or so before
it started working.

Yes, Ranma finding out what's in store for the others changes his mind on a
lot of things. Though Mara does it trying to get him to see the justice of
it all, it backfires and Ranma tries to help everyone that he can.
As for the contract, Ranma was too young at the time and could not be
considered Valid. However, at that time if called on it, then Mara could
just say she'll take his fathers soul, which would cause Ranma to try and
save it by sacrificing his own. However, now he HAS signed a contract with
her it's more binding that before.
And yes, she was Punished for her failures with Belldandy. And as for
Following the rules of attack if attacked, well she is a demon and who's to
say that she cannot press them into attacking first. Maybe insulting them,
intimidating them, or something else?
Oh and Genma is going to definitely no like having her around. Happosai
either for that matter. Especially when the little pervert is told that
Hild is looking for him, as his contract is ending soon and there are scores
of denizens of Hell that want a little payback on the pervert, and they will
have all of eternity to extract their revenge.
Kasumi... Ah she is a special case. Kasumi has the same Voice actress as
Belldandy and the two are VERY similar in a number of ways. So every time
Mara hears Kasumi's polite voice, she has a "GAH! What are you doing here
bell!" type of reaction.
"Akane, what delicious and uncontrolled anger! I can't wait to see what
she's like in the future! Her uncontrolled rage makes her a danger to the
masses, and any boy she sees she deals with in a suitable Kuno fashion. Yet
unfortunately most males are not made with heads as thick as Kuno."
"Nabiki, her greed is rewarding! She manipulates and takes what she can,
just imagine her as a demon! I bet I could get a promotion with her!"
Those are just some of Mara's thoughts on those two. Yet there are so many
more that she can use, and since Ranma only protected the Tendo girls from
Mara OFFERING a contract, then Mara is free to do what she wants with the
others, and she may be making a number of comments and trying to get one of
the Tendo girls to ask for a contract.
Kuno... After he mistakenly calls Mara a goddess she will not dissuade him
in any form, and even going so far as to tell him that she has a contract
with Ranma and if he were to die then the contract would pull he both of
them back to hell! Either that or she will tell him she is a demon and he
will not believe it and assume that Saotome has somehow convinced a goddess
that she was a demon.
ACK! TW how could you spoil the surprise like that! <sigh> Ok, yes I am
attempting to make this a Ranma and Mara story. Even with everything she is
doing, he is spending a lot of time around her, and at times, like in this
intro, he can see another side to her. And he starts trying to bring out
that side o hopefully get her distracted and leave the others alone.
As for the Amazons, this happens right before Cologne makes her entrance
into the story and before the Cat's tongue and phoenix pill. After
observing Ranma a bit, she will see Mara for what she is, and then try
everything she can to get rid of the demon, which will mean that Ranma will
suddenly be spending time rescuing Mara.

she can't stop herself from dancing when she hears rock music. None of
the NWC usually don't use good luck charms except for maybe Kuno when
he thinks it'll give him an edge over Ranma. You know what happened
when Mara comes near good luck charms, and there are a lot of Tenuki
statues around Nerima.
Tenuki are those raccoon like animals you see in the manga and anime
standing in front of stores wearing a straw hat and usually have a big
jug next to them. They're intended to be good luck charms. As in the
anime episode with Kuno and the ditz from the Golden Pair it is legend
in Japan that the Tenuki can take on human form and have magical powers.

he was connected to. So, all of a sudden everyone else's turn to hell
and Ranma get a break for the first time in his life (though they'll
probably try to get him to fix all the problems for them).

If so, who? Also, would it take six months for that effects of the
curse to manifest for them? You could get really, really twisted and
have it hit Kasumi (the person who would deserve it the least), and
the guy who cleansed Ranma had to use a one-time artifact, meaning
that Ranma has to watch out for her and also look for a cure at the
same time. Just a thought.

Being a father, I get rater appalled at the things Genma did to Ranma, his
own son and personally, I believe that the fat bastard should be strung up
and have his fur ripped off his body... Um... Ok so maybe I get a bit touchy
about that... Hehe...
The idea that genma has debts created purposefully in his sons name, grates
on my nerves, but sadly it is something that is within his character to do
so. I find it amazing that Nodoka can turn a blind eye to everything and
yes, if the collectors could not collect from Genma, then they would track
him down. It would not be all that hard to locate Nodoka Saotome and ask
her about Genma and or Ranma. Ok, so at least I do not think it would be
that hard IF you at least had her city of residency.
With Genma being on the road, more that likely the places he has tabs to
pay, do not know where his home is, so all they have is a name, and they
will possibly feel pretty sure its an alias. But without further
information, then they really would not have a way to track it back to
Nodoka Saotome. Or at least not easily.
I'm glad you want to see more Ranma & Mara, as I myself want to write more,
and then let all hell break loose in Nerima and see who survives. As for
Ryoga, Mara would (in my story at least) perceive him as a threat and seek
to eliminate said threat. Also, she would be under no requirement not to
tell Akane about Ryoga's curse, though I can see her tormenting the girl
about it. Maybe some horrible dreams where the curse is revealed and the
dream Ryoga then starts trying to do hentai things to her. So when the
truth is revealed, Akane thinks that Ryoga will then try something hentai
with her and freaks out. Though now I am intruding on this thread with
thoughts of my story.

Goddess, Oh My Demon," Is a story where Ranma ends up with Peroth and Mara
for Fiancées. Then there is "The Goddess ball" where it is a Urd, Mara,
Setsuna and Ranma match-up. But what really got my attention was a thread
on the Anime Addventure board where Ranma was murdered and returned a demon
himself out for revenge. But before he was murdered he did father a child
with one of the fiancées. Strangely enough it was Kodachi. So when he
returned with Mara helping him kill those that murdered him he also ended up
Marrying Mara and Kodachi.
That particular story line, was seriously messed up.

Nodoka as Daimakachou Hild ...the curse doesbn`t
affect her and she knows what Genma did. It`s what
kept her from locating Ranma for so long. The
underling that did it well....her toilet now has a
pernament latrine queen so to speak.
Now let Nabiki tell her if she messes with her
family she will make Nodokas life a living Hell...and Ranmas

levels of hell, so what if she were to send him to the first level. Then
when he returns she tells him that that was just the beginning, the next
time he says that, it'll be much worse. How many levels do you think he
will go through before he stops saying Ranma made his life hell?

"9 levels of Hell?"
Though having a mother like Hild.. That would be... Weird...
Humm... Ranma a son of Kami-Sama and Hild much like Urd is. However, since
Urd chose the light, Hild was hoping to win Ranma over to the darkness.
Nodoka, is just a side of Hild, so she is only a construct that is intent on
making Ranma a man among men which is why stealing, peeking and such would
be considered ok.
Naw... That may be pushing it a bit.

No she slept with Genma and gave him a son. Nodoka
was a cover she used on Earth. The craziness and
manliness obsession is an act. To keep peope from
looking too deeply. he proudest moment was when he
kicked Saffrons ass.
She hasn`t left due to the fact the karma spell was
messing with her locator spell, she placed on him. Now
that he is found she is planning on helping him get
out of there.

The thought that any woman would choose Genma... Is rather... GAH! I mean
even someone like Hild...
Oh.. I thought of something nasty...
So lets say that Hild disguised herself as Nodoka, and came to Japan. She
met this nice man that protected her from a pervert and she decided to
reward him. A few days later she finds out she is pregnant and hastily
marries someone and he turns out to be a real loser, also known as Genma
Saotome. When the kid was six, he made a promise to her, and signed it, but
she gave him a portion of the contract. No one has realized that the
seppuku contract is page 2, the first part is a contract for his soul in
which she promises eternal pain and suffering for him if he does not fulfill
his promise.
Every time Nodoka comes to the Tendo's she is hit with a bit of nostalgia
about something, but cannot place her finger on what it is so she seems
rather scattered and well.. Nodoka like in the series.
However, she soon finds out why she feels so different there. Because the
man that she rewarded, the man that is her son's true father... Is none
other than Soun Tendo.
The schools cannot be joined... As Soun is Ranma's father.
And the two fathers... Just stare at her after she tells them the story and
the three girls just look at their father in amazement.
Yes I know that Kasumi is older than Soun, but hehe a demon can be very
persuasive and he has since then felt very bad for cheating on his wife, so
he buried the incident which is why he did not recognize Nodoka.

Worse....she kept the contract but Genma had Ranma
fingerpaint the seppeku contract later.
Needless to say Genma won`t let Ranma see the
origional.
To her the plan was supposed to be simple but Genma
f***** it up. Mak Ranma manly go to Juuban and watch
the fireworks as the Sailor Scouts tear each other
apart over him...the curse is an added bonus cause now
the two outers will join the fun.
Even better is watching Setsuna rip her hair out by
the roots and not being able to do a thing about
Ranma...Hurt Ranma and Hild falls on her like a ton of bricks.

Though, with Genma signing a second contract, it does not make it binding.
Especially if he signed it later.
Although I have to admit it might be funny, I really do not want to
introduce the sailors, as especially since if I use this, then Ranma would
be part demon, and Rei and Ami would be able to sense it as it become more
active.

Actually this would explain the water magnet
thing....no one else has trouble with water, save for
Ryogas during the MA Gymnastics contest but that can
be attibuted to being close to him...
Challengers and such every day of the week, Hinako
always on his case....heck not evben the police seem
to care or they also hold him to blame for the things
that go wrong. Curse is broken and Genma not only
doesn`t realise it...but can`t recast it due to the
fact he needs to summon a demon and....
All the available ones keep looking at the schnook
now Hilds personal bathroom cleaner.

absorb all the bad karma of those around him was messing With Hild's /
Nodoka's ability to accurately track and or find Ranma. So now that the
spell is broken, Hild knows where Ranma is, can see his past, and what has
happened to him.

And From that quote from you earlier is referring to the demon that helped
to place the curse on Ranma in the first place. This demon has now been
made into a bathroom cleaner, so none of the other demons wish to anger Hild
so they refuse to help Genma. Am I right with what you are suggesting?

I agree that if Ranma is part demon that it wouldn't work with the
sailor scouts. If anything have him breeze through Jubaan just to set
off their alarms and raise their hackles, maybe let them get a look but
never get close enough for them to place that he's a demon. That way
they can drool and fight over him but never actually HAVE him.
This is going to be one long story dude... Hope you're taking notes.

the room...and spots a horde of imps , all with
notebooks and pens. One calls out.."Attention
Students" and they all bow to Ranma before starting to
take notes as Akane comes in and well his usual day
starts...
Ranma is the only one who can see or hear them.They
avoid Kasumi somewhat he does ask in the question
why me and the response is he is better at chaos and
mayhem than some full time demons and their Boss
thought it qwould be a good thing for them to learn
from him.

Do the little devils get Ranma-sensei diplomas when they can incite
more chaos in Ranma's life? Okay, so I guess that wouldn't be such a
lofty goal after all.
Should be interesting. I do suspect it will be a rather short story
though.
