“You’re not stuck. You’re just committed to certain patterns of behavior because they helped you in the past. Now those behaviors have become more harmful than helpful. The reason why you can’t move forward is because you keep applying an old formula to a new level in your life. Change the formula to get a different result.” ~Emily Maroutian
The thing that lies at the foundation of positive change, the way I see it, is service to a fellow human being. ~~ Lech Walesa
A man should never be ashamed to own he was in the wrong.
You've got it backwards. Taking action isn't a consequence of confidence and courage, you gain confidence and courage when you take action. ~Prayables

Daily Reflection
"BY FAITH AND BY WORKS" On anvils of experience, the structure of our Society was hammered out. . . . Thus has it been with A.A. By faith and by works we have been able to build upon the lessons of an incredible experience. They live today in the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, which—God willing—shall sustain us in unity for so long as He may need us. TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 131
God has allowed me the right to be wrong in order for our Fellowship to exist as it does today. If I place God's will first in my life, it is very likely that A.A. as I know it today will remain as it is.

Pot Luck
“So you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and inequity.” ~ Matthew 23:28
In a Charlie Brown comic strip, Charlie is asked by Linus, “Charlie Brown do you want to know what’s the trouble with you?” Charlie says,“No.” The two stare at each other. Then Linus says, “The the trouble with you Charlie Brown, is that you don't want to know what is the trouble with you.”
That's everyone's problem. The threat of honest examination and the thought of admitting our flaws is never welcome. We all resist any criticism, any thought of our imperfection. To admit our “character defects” is to confront the most stubborn resistance we have to recovery. The Fourth Step is the beginning of real change, real healing.
We take the desperate steps of surrender in Steps One, Two and Three. Now we enter a new world of restoration and rebuilding. The Fourth Step focuses us to look at ourselves not our disease, at our character not our illness. Such a “fearless moral inventory” is hardly free from fear! It's full of it! Yet as fearful as we are, such a self inventory is the doorway to change and new health - it is the road of repentance, of changing course toward fuller recovery. The pain of examining the exact nature of our wrongs is as intense as our pride. The larger the ego, the tougher and the longer the fourth step. Yet the greater the pain, the better the outcome and the more certain the victory of God over ego, in the more wonderful restoration and reunion with God.
Dear God, I have so many flaws. I have such a warehouse of past wrongs. Please help me see them and confess every one. Look with me. Amen
