Hi,

for all you beginning and even sophisticated Unix command line users:

I am not sure whether you are also still frequently tempted to resort to a graphical file system browser to navigate between directories, etc., but I must admit I still do use the Mac Finder heavily. One reason is the `backward` and `forward` button in the upper left corner of the Finder window which lets me quickly jump back and forward between deep locations in the directory hierarchy. I don't know why I never checked, but I really didn't know until today that the same is possible on the Unix command line - Unix just doesn't stop to impress me :-). So here you go:

$ cd -

that's change directory followed by a dash/minus sign, which jumps you back to the previous directory. Being in your previous directory, this command jumps you back to your current directory, so it just remembers the immediate previous directory. Check it out!

I am obviously not the only one who missed that feature.

Hi all,

another similar command would be
cd $OLDPWD

cheers

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone of you ever came across cufflinks to analyse
RNAseq data?

cheers,
