Know How Talks at IDEO
TOMORROW, Thursday, 11/12/09 5:00 pm
IDEO Cafe*
Free and open to the public

Aromar Revi
Aromar is the Director of the Indian Institute of Human Settlements (IIHS) (http://www.iihs.co.in) that will create India’s first independent National Innovation University to address its dramatic urbanisation challenges. It will do this by creating a new interdisciplinary profession (the Bachelors & Masters in Urban Practice) and integrated programme of education, research, consulting and advisory service delivery. Aromar has degrees in technology, law and management from IIT-Delhi and the University of Delhi. He has led over a hundred major research and consulting assignments across India, a dozen other counties and three of the ten largest cities in the world.

Meghann Dryer
Meghann is a Business Designer at IDEO, focusing on new product development, brand experience and innovation strategy.

Here's our PROGRAM for TOMORROW, Thursday (see attached poster):
5:00 - A thought starter: Designing Systems
Meghann Dryer will kick-off this Know How with a provocation around the tension between designing for human challenges, which are fundamentally unique, and designing for scale, which requires some degree of standardization. Using education as a lens for this tension, we’ll explore emerging thoughts in designing for systems that meet individual needs but also allow for growth and replication at a mass level.
5:15 – India's Urban Transformation: From Challenge to Opportunity
Aromar Revi will explore the dynamics of India's urban transformation and the opportunity of multiple interventions to catalyse this - including the IIHS a new interdisciplinary national innovation University that plans to educate and train over 100,000 'system integrators' by 2030
5:50 – Discussion – Meghann Dryer will moderate a discussion.
