Dear friends,
From the appointment of an anti-vaxxer to lead the Department of Health and Human Services during a lethal measles outbreak, to devastating proposed cuts to Medicaid at a time when Americans are already struggling to afford medical care, over the past month it has become clear that the greatest threat to our national health is national politics.
Right now in the U.S., our access to healthcare is under continuous attacks from all sides! Sign up here to fight back!
The current administration is aggressively pursuing an extreme, dangerous healthcare agenda: making deep cuts to Medicaid; privatizing Medicare and the VA; denying care to immigrants; and limiting our ability to seek reproductive care, gender-affirming care, and even vaccines. Thes are huge fights, and the stakes are high, but we can't afford to lose.
That might mean sending emails or making calls to your elected officials, writing a short letter to the editor or making an online comment, sharing information with your social networks, etc. -- ways you can make a difference, often without leaving your home. We'll provide you with the tools you need to act in the moment and, if you want, connect to ongoing campaigns around these issues led by Healthcare NOW and our partner organizations in the fight for healthcare justice.
We promise to limit the emergency calls to action we send you to no more than 3 per month, and of course, it's up to you if and how you take action.
Our healthcare system in this country is already failing to serve millions of people who desperately need it -- we should be expanding access to healthcare instead of shredding what little safety net we have.
Don't let them leave even more of us out in the cold -- it's time to turn up the heat!
