Donna, Your teaching is awesome. You really have a handle on the Word...and the apostasy in Christiandom. The only other person I have read that is as astute as you is Pastor Don Corner, whom I am sure you know of. He is said to have written the most exhaustive study refuting Eternal Security in all of time. I love his work too.
Feeling so grieved of the false teaching so rampent in the church, I developed my own teaching on my website: www.insearchofthenarrowgate.org....written for ages 12 and up.... a 4week course in getting into the narrow gate. Our theology is very, very closely the same....I just have two points I want to ask you about.
1)
When a person breaks the law unknowingly the Bible calls it
a sin of ignorance. (This person does not "COMMIT" sin)
I find the distinction of committing a sin, (slipping up) and "practicing sin" (blatant, unrepentant sin) another way to look at it. But the bottom line here is...."Study to show thyself approved....and work out your salvation with fear and trembling..." are commands, not suggestions, as far as I see it. People have not been taught the seriousness of living their life in the way God would have them to do....because they are not taught. They are lambs led to the slaughter. That should say something to people. We cannot just go to church twice a week....soaking in all the pastor teaches...when he could very well be in false doctrine, just by not telling the whole truth.......lest he step on too many toes and loose his job!
When a person breaks the law of the city....and gets a parking ticket.........they are not "forgiven" because they are ignorant.......and are told, if you wish to drive and park in the city, you must get a copy of the City ordinances...and learn them.To be saved is the first step in the process of salvation. Those who are saved do not have eternal life - but they can - if they will
continue on to true repentance. That is why Paul wrote:
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my
presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling." Phi 2:12
Being saved leads to salvation and receiving eternal life. And how
does one inherit eternal life?
"And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good
but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the
commandments." Mat 19:17
Jesus told the disciples that he spoke in parables, lest the scoffers and unbelieving understand and turn to him. I believe the entire new testament is written in a way so that the Bible says one thing, at face value....but as one grows closer and closer to Jesus, he reveals more and more to us as his true Children of the true meaning. That is why there is so much disagreement between the churches.
"OSAS proponants take the "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved," to the inth degree....as a done deal, right then. You know that, but that verse has so many hot words in it...it's very serious. They then go and live as carnal christians. But upon study you have come up with one I had missed...."
"God said, if you will have eternal life...keep the commandments.
So, at the initial experience with Christ....how can we even say we are "saved" when we have not even been "born-again?"
I understand, as you...that saved, is being rescued from the wrath of God.......it is a word of protection.....but also a word that deceives the masses. You are most correct in that we then are given "eternal life" when Jesus said, "Blessed are those who obey the commandments as they are given the right to enter in to the City of God."
I am pleased to have come to know your theology....as it just confirms mine, and that of Dan Korner.
