update g1 phone from 1.5 to 1.6 is there a quick easy way

For me trying to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 is difficult as i find i have
the wrong sdk, version of eclipse and fail in updating. there was a
way i upgraded from 1.0 to 1.5 that loaded the update zip onto t/
he sd card and i was succesful.
is there a way to carry this out with 1.6

Yup.

Download signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721.zip from
http://developer.htc.com/adp.html and rename it update.zip, copy it at
the top level of your SD card (you'll be able to do that without any
special drivers).

Reboot your phone in recovery (hold down the home key while booting,
for about 15 seconds). When in recovery (with the /!\ logo), press
alt-S.

Is this the same process to upgrade from 1.0?  I'm not seeing the /!\ logo.

The same process should work from 1.0, but I haven't done that in a
very very long time so I don't actually remember.

You need to do the radio image first if starting from 1.0.  But yes the process is the same.

I figured out my problem.  I was rebooting by pulling the battery, that doesn't work.  Home + Power combo to shut down, then again to restart, and it did it fine.

just completed upgrade
downloaded the file to my desktop
rename file to update.zip
connect phone and mount
dragged file to the phone sd card
hold home + power combo
used tracker to highlight upgrade from sd card
again use tracker ball to highlight reboot
after waiting a long time to upgrade
then reboot again
android symbol

again long time or so it seemed before android appeared and the writing changed white and blue as it upgraded..

now have firmware ver 1.6

I did delete the previous radio ver 1.0 from a windows vista machine on the sd card. hope this helps anyone else who trys aswell
