The issue is that external parties report poor call quality to this one 3CX installation (uses NexVortex SIP) however pcap and audio recordings of these same calls do not have this poor quality.

This client uses Time Warner Business Class as their ISP.  TW reports that they do not use any QoS to prioritize voip traffic across their network.  My question is - do you know this to be true or not?

Thank you.

Hi List

Is there anybody out there actually using a Time Warner Business connection for 3CX Phone System internet connectivity? What is your experience with call quality for this?

Hi Everyone,

We have a client who is running 3CX on Time Warner Business Class with one main site and 2 remote sites using the proxy. We ran fine for a month or so, then we started running into major phone quality issues. After running some traceroutes on Time Warner's network, we found a bad hop of 200ms or so. Contacting them did no good, due to no SLA.  As long as you are getting your bandwidth, they do not care about the latency. The client is currently switching to an MPLS service to fix this issue. Sadly Time Warner's latency is unreliable and a huge headache and without an SLA, they will not even assist you with the issue. I do not recommend using them for SIP and/or remote sites.

Hi Everyone

This is useful information.

I would like to suggest that someone starts off a message in this mailing list that declares a preliminary list of services that are KNOWN to have QoS capabilities, and also a preliminary list of services that are KNOWN TO NOT have QoS capabilities.

Other contributors to the list can then add their knowledge to the list, and everyone then has a point of reference going forwards.
