Hello,
I installed ZAP using the .sh script on the official site on a ubuntu 22.10 system.
On the first run, I installed ZAP root certificate and configured both my Firefox 102.13.0esr (64 bit) and Chrome Version 116.0.5845.110 (Official build) (a 64 bit).
The application is correctly registaring and listing all the requests I make. I right clicked on one on the right panel and added it to the current scope.
However, in the browser, the HUD options appear all to be grayed out, and if I click on the green + icon on the left panel nothing happens.
Trying to use other icons, like start spider or start attack, leads to no result.

What could I do to troubleshoot the problem or what logs could I post/read to investigate what's happening?

Best regards and many thanks

Is that the same in both Firefox and Chrome?
Is there any reason why you are no launching the browsers via ZAP?
Can you share a screenshot?

Cheers,

Simon

Yes, it's the same for both browsers.
No, there is no particular reason I am not launching the browser via zap, I just followed the quickstart guide to scan my application.
I am working with double monitors, so you can see in the screenshot ZAP with context opened on the left and the browser on the right. I tried to reload the page and empty the cache a couple of times, browser side.
I added some censorship because of the NDA but I hope everything necessary is understandable.

Try launching your browsers from ZAP.
You may well hit the same problem, but at least it will help us rule out a misconfiguration of your browsers.

Cheers,

Simon

I am trying with the browser, it was not working until I applied the following option:
On tools > options > Selenium i have put "/usr/bin/firefox-esr" under "Binaries > Firefox" option.
From the browser launched from ZAP, I view the HUD as this:
