Wondering if anyone is in a position to share whether (or if) they deal with Partial Shipments in uStore.

We have a storefront where the Unit Quantity being shipped could be very high (100,000 Pieces - say 20+ Packages).
Occasionally the customer will want us to Overnight Ship a Partial Quantity of an OrderProductID and then ship the remainder via another method.

uStore does not allow you to create more than one Delivery for a single OrderProductID.
  • CreateDeliveryByOrderProducts (ActualDeliveryWS API Operation)

    • orderProductIDs
      • Allows Multiple IDs
    • deliveryDatetime
    • trackingNumber
What If the Quantity of a Single OrderProductID was too big to fit into a Single Carton, and every carton in the Shipment had a Unique Tracking Number?
There is not a way to associate multiple Tracking Numbers with a single OrderProductID?

Split Shipping could theoretically work, but I don't see a way to modify an Order after it's been placed.

At the Moment we're going to chalk it up to the Shipping Staff following a rule where they cannot Ship a Partial of a Product.
If they need to, some manual intervention will be required, and the Updated Tracking information will not be available to the uStore Customer.

The "Manual Shipping" delivery provider does not handle that level of control. With the others - FexEx/UPS, you can define on each product either a weight or quantity which will fit into each delivery service package. Then, the shipping calculation will select the correct # of packages required for the quantity ordered. This functionality is also available in Igor's optional Excel Shipping Calculator - or for developers who have the skills to create a delivery provider without documentation. (I don't think XMPie provides documentation of the shipping plugin in their uStore SDK.)

Appreciate the response Couch. I'm not certain that I explained the scenario completely.

Say you have an order for 1000 units of a given product.

On Monday you need to Ship 100 via overnight delivery (partial shipment). On Wednesday, you ship the remaining 900 units via Ground Shipping.

This would result in two different tracking numbers that need to be associated with the same Product.

It appears, uStore does not allow you to create two separate deliveries for a single product either via the UI or the API.

You're right. I don't know how you could do that without getting the customer to place 2 orders with different delivery options selected.

Igor/Guy - any other suggestions?

This can this be done in uStore and Out of the Box. One must enable the Specified Product for sending to different addresses and then the Customer can choose for the Different Delivery Addresses and Number of Items on the CheckoutFinal Page.
So I can Place one order and ship this to more then one Delivery address

You can enable split shipping option on your store setup page:

And then the customer can place an order for a large quantity of a product - or multiple products - and select the quantity to be delivered to each address.

I haven't tried this yet, but followed by down that path... Can a second address be added via the UStoreAdmin Back office or the API?
- I didn't see anything in the API documentation allowing that.

If this were an after the fact decision (after the order was placed), which it always is... The only was I see it being done is canceling the Order, then impersonating the user and placing a new one with the addresses and Qty split.
