Wordle Can't Be Activated on My Macs (running Yosemite)

Hello:

Seeing how amazing Wordle is I tried activating it on both of my Macs, which are running with OS Yosemite.

Unfortunately, after clicking Create (using Build #1455), then pasting the text, when I click Go, the field becomes entirely empty. I wait more than two minutes without seeing any activation.

How does a Yosemite user access and activate Wordle? Is there a Safari preference that needs to be set?

Please advise so I can create a Wordle word cloud.

Is someone there who can tell me if and how a Mac user running the latest OS — Yosemite — can activate this cool-looking app? I've waited for a week and a half for an e-reply.

In this forum, I've asked three times if Wordle has yet been configured to work with Mac OS X Yosemite. Neither Jonathan nor a forum user has responded to my inquiries.

If it's not intended to be compatible with Yosemite, kindly tell me/us that so we don't wonder, week after week, what the answer might be.

Please advise us promptly.

Wordle works with any web browser that supports the Java plugin, on any operating system that can run such a browser.

The list of candidate platforms is steadily shrinking.

Unfortunately, I have no idea. Your machine would have to be directly in the hands of a knowledgeable user or systems administrator to troubleshoot it.

In answer to your question following my clicking the Java link, I have the latest version (Java 8 Update 51). I tried moments ago to create a test Wordle and, after entering the text and clicking Go, I see inside the Wordle text box the message “Java out of date.”

Having the latest Java version, is there something I must do to reinitialize Java or reinstall it again?

I look forward to learning what you suggest I do.

Hello, again, Jonathan:

While I awaited your e-reply, I retested the Java link and was told that Java was blocked. I changed one of my Safari extensions — AdBlock —and deactivated it. I then got the Java site to confirm that Java was now orking.

I then retested Wordle and, after agreeing to trust Java on your site, Wordle worked!

Hooooooray.

Oh, how I wish there were a much more straightforward approach to determining if Java was blocked by a browser extension.

Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing how I can create word clouds with Wordle.

Hello:

I'm happy to say that I've now activated Wordle on my Mac running Yosemite.

Jonathan emailed me directly asking me to start of by checking the latest Java version now on my Mac. He gave me this link in his e-reply:

Clicking it advised me that, although I had the latest Java version for Mac (v. Java 8 Update 51), it was being blocked on my browser (Safari). I deactivated the "AdBlock" extension on Safari, closed and reopended Safari, and opened Wordle on Safari. I entered my test text entry in the Wordle text container, pressed Go, and was asked if I wanted Java to work on the Wordle site. I clicked "OK" and Wordle finally activated nicely.

I hope that helps others have difficulty activating Wordle on Java-enabled browsers. (I wish the troubleshooting process was more intuitive and easier to follow so we could get Java to work with the least of effort.)
