16qam is alright for uplink qpsk is crappy for downlink, idealy you want a 32qam for byour downlink and 16-32 for your uplink. Now you can have the best signal in the world and still have the modulation too low. Unless it autonegs dependant on the signal stregnth. So what rake said about doing a site survey with your modem in differnt spots will reveal that. And if it don't you might need to gain root on the modem to adjust those settings.

Hi..
Your downlink modulation is QPSK1/2 only, can you please share the received signal strength too?? As a quick remedy, you can increase you bandwidth by moving you modem to a place with better signal and or connect and externl antenna with reflector.

I just speaking off the top of my head but qpsk or bpsk is a protocol that is used while pathing in a antenna before 16-32qam can be negotiated. I'm wring all this from my phone. I cant get to the room where the router is to reset it.
