Hello,
when voiceattack is running for longer time (hour maybe sometimes much less like 5 mins), it starts to slow down, if i try clicking stop listening button i cant click it again to start listening, or if i open menu and close it it takes like 30 seconds to main window to unfreeze.

After it unfreezes it shows some non recognized commands, and any other commands i say after that freezes the program again, after a while it returs with non recognized commands, its like the voice recognition hits some loop and program is waiting for it. When its unfrozen after returning recognition results i can actually click again the butto for start listening, but when i say something it brokes the buttons again.

I use beta 1.5.8.8 but it was also doing on 1.5.8, running windows 7, on i5 intel.

Restarting voiceattack solves it for a while.

Any advices would be much apritiated.

Martin

Hi, Martin.

You might want to check out this thread :

That seems to be a fairly common problem... just requires a little legwork to get back to working again.

Sadly no change, same thing, still freezing on recognition.

Hmm...  Does this happen on all profiles or just that one?

It happens even on empty profile (one command for testing with simple tts answer).
I even tried changing UK recognition to US and same problem except now it doesnt recognize practically anthing i say lol.

If it's doing that on an empty profile, something is bogging down your speech engine for some reason.  You may want to try logging in as a different user and see if you get the same performance without any other apps running, as at this point it could be any of a billion things that could be happening.

I tried to login as diferent user, and it seems to be working, but now it started working again on my normal profile...so for now lets called it fixed and dont poke the bear so it stays asleep.
Thank you for your help
Martin

Hi, Martin.

Thanks for the info.  Do you think there's something else that was running that may have contributed to the slowdown?

Hey,
if you mean anything to do with voice recognition....no, and i didnt change anything on my normal windows profile which now works - no programs deleted added etc. I think it did something like you sugested in you first reply (the new profile in windows recognition), some sort of "reset", but thats just a wild guess.
I will be back if it starts happening again, and try to do some more testing, but for now im verry happy that i cant test that .-).

Btw when it was broken i used a workaround with a script which was restarting voiceattack every 10 minutes which worked like a charm, so i guess its some sort of "voiceattack waiting for windows response" which is stuck (verry slow), and when it creates new instance of the recognition (on program start) it starts working again (i dont know much about voice recognition in windows so i dot know if you have to create instance or you just use some static implementation in windows, its just my wild ass guess from programming experience).

Thanks for your help
Martin
