Poverty is not our portion
by Augustine Togonu- Bickersteth
We are not going down
Poverty lane.
Poverty is not our portion
We are traversing prosperity
We are october 1
We should be number 1!
we say NO ! to position 130
130 out of 190 countries
ease of doing business!.
We should be number 1!
We are not going down
the poverty lane.
Poverty is not our portion!
We are traversing prosperity
We have the resources
in abundance.
Human and natural
Poverty is not out portion.
We have paid our dues
we need to be rewarded
Poverty is not our portion
We are traversing prosperity
We are October 1
We should be number 1
Many thanks for these encouraging words of Positive Faith. Let us hope and pray that the message gets home.
Once upon a time, there was a lion cub that was brought up by sheep and grew up believing that he was one of them.
I think that part of the problem is the missionary zeal which deliberately misinterprets what Jesus could have meant when he said, in his Sermon on the Mount, “ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” and thereby continue to fool the gullible among Nigeria’s Christian Faithful. In support of that kind of distorted interpretation, of course, was this kind of colonial contribution to promoting Africa’s sense of “ suffer, suffer for world, enjoy for Heaven” :
Desmond Tutu has told the story: They had the Bible, we had the land
My impression is that the mega-churches in Nigeria preach some kind of “Prosperity Gospel “ which partly explains why there are so many multi millionaire pastors in Nigeria
Here is some Eastern Orthodox understanding of “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
In Sufism, there is the ideal of spiritual poverty
of Islam in Africa, there is the example of Mansa Musa

You're welcome, St. Augustine! Cheers! If only the leadership would catch the message and act upon it as if they really care.I must apologize if I gave the impression that some of the Nigerian church pastors are bloodsuckers, busy mostly fleecing the poor because many churches are doing their best to alleviate poverty - such as the Bethel Church in Ottawa which raised $250, 000 ( last year?) to spread the word about salvation, to at least save people from spiritual poverty...Today, I followed this service on youtube ( with a lot of Western Propaganda of course about the Church's alleged persecution and sufferation in Ukraine) and it was most distressing when this "poverty map" turned up and the listener was told ( as you can hear for yourself) that the darker the colour, the greater the poverty :
