Timeless Cancelled, then UNcancelled

The time travel show was cancelled, but apparently the flurry of requests to keep the show, caused NBC to reconsider, and the cancellation was undone. The show will return in 2018. 

Being a history buff, I was quite fond of the program, especially since they often touched on little-known historical facts. like the NASA women who were highlighted in the movie, "Hidden Figures," who were featured on Timeless before the release of the movie.

Almost like someone changed the timeline somehow. Hmm.

I always felt like there should have been more of a "butterfly effect" situation resulting from the changes they end up making (beginning with the pilot, and the increased number of survivors of the Hindenburg), but I know that can be hard to pull off in a weekly TV series, where it gets confusing for the viewers if they come back to 2016 and everything looks different than it did last week.

I think I have posted here enough about how disappointed I was in this show. Once I got over being pissed that it was not nearly as good as it could have been, I found it tolerable. Happy enough it is getting a chance to get better, though I am not holding my breath that it will.

They need to do an episode where they end up on the set of "The Time Tunnel".

I'd settle for an episode where anything they do/change makes an actual difference to the timeline

In the very beginning, Lucy discovered that her invalid mother is now healthy, but her younger sister Amy no longer exists, and Lucy herself is engaged.

And there was an additional James Bond novel and movie after their encounter with Ian Fleming.

Okay, okay, what I've been waiting for, since the Hindenburg landed safely in the pilot, is one of the travelers making an "oh, the humanity" reference (in the present) and being met with confusion.

True, but the changes to the timeline have been few and mostly specific to the people we know. One of the ways time travel novels maintain a basic coherence to the timeline while their heroes stumble though it is to posit a basic premise - as Stephen King put it: "The past does not want to change". Connie Willis has a somewhat different mechanism with a similar function in her novels. These things make it meaningful for people to go back in the past while still having a present to return to, and also a reason why whatever the protagonists are doing back there does not immediately become less important than killing Hitler or whatever. Timeless' approach is simply to not worry about things like this, except when it is convenient for thier plot. 

No time travel story can be completely logically consistent, but I do like to see them try to set up some rules for their universe and then stick to them.
