TUNA/USTC开源镜像管理员：

CTeX作为中文TeX界历史最久的发行版，从2012年后一直没有得到维护，也给用户带来了一些使用的不便。

今日我和Liam Huang经过与原维护者aloft的商议，决定重新维护和发布CTeX。

由于ctex.org的FTP服务器损坏，此前的发布一直采取免费网盘的方式，不利于直接维护以及下载（没错我说的就是百度云限速）。故现申请在贵处托管CTeX的安装包。

之前的版本过于老旧，不会再发布，如接受则会从最新版本开始托管（乐观预计20日前可以发布）。

我们采用了新的打包策略，每个安装包约250MB左右，版本更新不会频繁，因此占用空间较少，亦不会造成很大的流量压力。

请考虑。

CTeX 套装最早是由中科院 Leo Wu（吴凌云）研究院开发、维护和发布的 TeX 发行版。CTeX 是应当时中文配置困难的背景（CCT、CJK 等）而诞生的，而现在的中文支持技术（xeCJK、LuaTeX-ja 等）配置已非常简单。

 

CTeX 套装自 2012 年 3 月 22 日发行 2.9.2.164 版本后，至今未更新，已不能适应当前 TeX 中文技术的发展。

 

此外，CTeX 套装使用人数众多。很多从老师、学长等了解到 TeX 的初学者，可能被推荐用 CTeX 套装。

 

因此，实际上很多初学者使用着不符合时代的 TeX 发行版，这是不好的。

 

另一方面，Leo Liu/Qing Lee/Clerk Ma/Liam Huang 等人在 CTeX 论坛、水木 BBS、知乎专栏等处推荐的 TeX Live 发行版，对于新手来说，安装上（在 Windows 中）可能遇到各种问题。这可能让初学者撞上很多不必要的「墙」，也是不好的。

 

2016 年初，Liam Huang 和 Harry Chen 受到 QQ 群讨论的启发，希望接手 CTeX 套装的维护，避免以上两个缺点。Leo Wu 欣然应允。

我们希望推出一个时隔 4 年的新版本，即 3.0.0 版本。这个版本，相对上一个版本的主要变化有：

 

1. 加入最新的 WinEdt 9.1

2. 全面支持 UTF-8 编码

3. 将 MiKTeX 和所携宏包更新至最新

4. 将 GSView 和 Ghostview 更新至最新

5. 使用国内的镜像作为 MiKTeX 默认的更新镜像

6. 不再区分 Basic 版本和 Full 版本，也不再支持从 2.9.2.164 版本差量更新

 

对于上述 6 的说明：

 

过去 CTeX 套装的 Basic 版本打包了几乎是原生的 MiKTeX。对于中文用户来说，Basic 版本欠缺非常多的宏包，以至于新手第一次使用时，也可能需要 on-the-fly 安装很多宏包。这是不好的，因此我们放弃了 Basic 版本。

 

过去 CTeX 套装的 Full 版本打包了其时 MiKTeX 能获得的所有宏包，安装文件体积较大。其中很多宏包，普通用户是用不到的；对于这些「高级」宏包，我们认为可能用到它们的用户有能力*自行安装*，因此没有加入它们的必要。

 

此次更新，我们在原生 MiKTeX 的基础上加入了一部分对于中文用户来说常用的宏包，以保证对于大多数普通用户来说，不存在「缺少宏包」的现象。详细的列表可见：<https://gist.github.com/Liam0205/0da87bd77f13c9f4549f>

 

我们认为 CTeX 从 3.0.0.x 版本需要进入一个新的「纪元」，因此不准备支持差量更新。

考虑到「CTeX 套装其实已经完成了它的历史使命」（引述自 LeoLiu），今后的计划如下：

 

1. CTeX 3.x 版本本身只做最基本的维护，不再进行大面积的更新

2. 开发 CTeX 4.x 版本（暂定名 newCTeX）。在设想中，newCTeX 是一个工具集，它能够在 Windows 系统上与 MiKTeX 及 TeX Live 协同工作，专注解决安装和中文配置方面的问题

TeX Live 2015 要几个G，CTeX 怎么只有250M？需要用宏包时缺岂不是很蛋疼（对于新手）？

 

另外为何要重新维护和发布 CTeX？我记得刘海洋说过 “CTeX 已经完成了它的历史使命”。
