Hi,I have a working MythTV setup (Open SuSe 12.3) now running mythtv 0.26 but cant get Torc to display anything

- Frontend (0.26) works on same host as BE
- Mythweb works (recording, streaming and even video and music!)
- DLNA works from my Panasonic Flat 50" Plasma & even Windows Media Player (Win 7) for Recorded TV, Music and Video - VNC crashes ;(
- JW Player works perfectly on Chrome

Torc doesnt work
- iPad 2 iOS 6.1.3

I have manually configured the BE & FE using the standard BE & FE ports

Can you give me a set of debug tasks

Thanks
Clive

Hi Clive,

Start with the tasks here:

The steps for streaming readiness will also confirm that the Backend service API is up and running.  You say configed BE and FE using standard ports, but just to confirm, you mean the standard ports

Torc doesn't use any of the services or ports used by MythWeb or DLNA, so those don't affect us here-- all that matters is that the BE is compiled properly with libx264, libmp3lame, and with avahi/zeroconf support, and that the BE and frontend are successfully binding to the Service API port (6544 on a routable IP for the backend, 6547 on a routable IP for the FE, no loopback/127.0.0.1).  Start there, let me know how you get on.

If you need to come back for more help, you may want to be more specific about what doesn't work-- streaming?  Anything?  Any error messages on BE and FE?

You may want to start your BE with upnp logging-- though UPNP is not use, the upnp loglevel also logs Service API requests.

Robert

Sorry, cut myself off there-- I mean the standard ports set by the Torc application, right?  ie, 6544 and 6547?

Hi

I found the issue - config.xml had localhost, not the routable IP. I changed that and restarted the BE

Looking good.

Thanks
Clive

Playback of recorded TV is choppy on playback after a while .. How do I determine if OpenSuSe (Packman) have compiled with the correct switches?

If it plays at all, it's been compiled properly.  It sounds as though your BE may not be quite up to the task of keeping up with the transcode, though (Or as a distant second possibility, that you could have network issues).  The app itself doesn't even have playback code, it just passes the stream URL to the iOS playback code and says "play this for me, would you?"  You can also try increasing the number of threads mythtranscode uses to transcode content:

1) Open up a mysql command prompt on your MythTV backend.

2) Run the following:

INSERT settings ( value, data, hostname ) VALUES ( 'HTTPLiveStreamThreads', '6', NULL);

3) Restart your MythTV backend service.

Cheers - didn't help, maybe worse ... Ill remove the row

The backend is no spring chicken ... so is most probably the issue.

I'll stop there now - thanks for your help

Regards
Clive
