Slow load time in PC vs Mac

Hello,

When loading the chebi ontology (ftp://ftp.ebi.ac.uk/pub/databases/chebi/ontology/chebi.owl) in TBC, we are experiencing very different load times on a PC vs on a Mac:

Mac: 1 minute

PC: just over 20 minutes

Version: TBC SE 4.5.0

(Note: the .owl extension was changed to .rdf before loading)

We did this following installation of a fresh copy of TBC.  Are there any suggestions on how to improve the load time on the PC?

Hi Willie,

We attempted to recreate this issue in TBCSE 4.5 and the result was 3 minutes on the PC. We loaded from the workspace. Is that the location you are loading the file from? Or are you loading the data from a URL?

Thanks for looking into this.  We are loading form the workspace, as well.  Just to give more details, this is on a 64-bit quad core machine with 16GB RAM.

Hi Willie,

We used same but with 8GB. Have run some tests with application configuration changes and will email you the options (screenshot) that did shave a percentage of time off the load.
