Some people are reporting their events are not accepted due to blacklisting. Is there a list of words or phrases to curate better phrased posts? I appreciate that blacklisting was a response to the spat of Spam. I appreciate those efforts.

I attached the blacklist file. It's mostly drug names.

We've deleted a few events posted by the Imagination Station because they were not really tech related and they were for weeks or a month+ at a time. We would prefer not having weeks-long or months-long events on the calendar that are lego events for kids. These things dump into a lot of people's Google calendar (mine included) and essentially overwhelm real events and schedules. These things could be posted as a one day event that states that it will be running for the following month. That would be fine.

We're not opposed to multi-day or even weeks long events if they are tech and have a strong relevance to the tech community. They're rare but have happened before.

Just FYI.

The person who is entering in the event content needs to be able to see the list of blacklisted words to see what is causing the problem. They won't find it here in this group.

Ideally, the blacklisted words are HILITED on the page that says "some words are blacklisted".

I had all sorts of problems getting StartUp's Equine themed content to go thru. I had to delete a ton of stuff to finally get it to save. Then add content 1 sentence at a time so I could tell where the blacklisted word was. It took me 15+ minutes to do a 1 minute task.

Here is an example that makes it seem like the blacklisting is NOT working properly.

Go to http://toledotechevents.org/events/2885 - a sample I made for testing.

Edit the event and add “equine specialist” to the description. It is now blacklisted.

Yet those words do NOT appear in the list of blacklisted words or phrases.

chloroquine” appears in the black list, but that is as close as it gets.

Now add ONLY “equine” without the “specialist”. It saves OK!

So weird stuff is happening. I would call it a bug, since it is catching words that it should not.

Hello,
Thanks for deleting those events. I removed the calendar from mine because of those annoying events. For Milan's event, the sentence that contained words that were 'blacklisted' were not found on the list. I simply continued to edit the post until it passed. Thanks for everyone's contributions.
